Chapter 286 Leaving Everglow City

"How is it?" Ethan asked with a smile, watching her relaxed expression.

"It's alright, barely edible!" Lyra retorted.

"You should really try more street food. The environment might look a bit messy, but the food they make can be just as clean as what you get in a five-star hotel. Some hotel kitchens are the ones you should really worry about!" Ethan laughed as he watched her devour the food.

"It's only because you brought me here. I never had the chance to eat at places like this before. My parents never allowed me to eat street food!" Lyra said.

"Are you full? If you are, let's head back!" Seeing that Lyra had finally finished, Ethan paid the bill and stood up.

"It's still so early. Why don't we walk around a bit? You're leaving for Nova York tomorrow, and who knows when we'll meet again!" Lyra said, looking at Ethan with a face full of reluctance.

Ethan was about to speak when a group of people suddenly stormed into the restaurant. Their aggressive demeanor made it clear they weren't there to eat but to cause trouble.

"We've been looking for you all day, and here you are!"

"You have no money but still try to pick up women and eat for free on our boss's turf. You must have a death wish!"

"Guys, get him!"

A group of thugs shouted, waving their sticks as they charged at Jesse. Ethan quickly pulled the startled Lyra back to avoid getting caught in the fray, astonished that Jesse had tried to eat for free and was now being chased for money.

What surprised Ethan even more was that Jesse, facing so many thugs, remained completely unflustered. He finished the whole glass of wine, and with a flick of his wrist, the glass flew towards the leading thug with a whistling sound.

"Ah!" With a scream, the thug fell to the ground, clutching his bleeding head. The other thugs, shocked by the power of Jesse's retaliation, froze in place. By the time they recovered and tried to attack, Jesse had already reached them. With a few swift punches and kicks, he had them all on the ground, groaning in pain.

"I didn't want to do this, but you left me no choice," Jesse said in a deep voice, shaking his head in resignation.

"Ethan, how does he know judo?" Lyra asked excitedly, clutching Ethan's hand.

Ethan hadn't expected to encounter a man who was also a warrior. Judging by Jesse's technique and strength, he was undoubtedly a master!

If Jesse had thrown a fork instead of a wine glass, he might have killed that thug!

"Don't talk nonsense. This is a master-level expert!" Ethan warned, his face serious.

Although he hadn't seen Jesse at his full strength, Ethan felt that Jesse was on the same level as Ignatius and Gino. Ethan wasn't sure he could defeat him!

"Is he really that powerful?" Lyra asked, her eyes wide with surprise.

"Boss, here's the money for the meal and a tip!" Jesse said, leaving ten dollars on the table before quickly walking out of the restaurant.

But before leaving, Jesse turned and glanced at Ethan, then finally left.

"He is interesting!" Ethan chuckled, ignoring the thugs groaning on the ground, and led Lyra out of the noodle shop.

Once outside, the man was nowhere to be seen.

"I'll take you home!" Ethan pondered for a moment, then got into the car with Lyra.

On the way back, Lyra was still excitedly talking about the fight with Jesse. Finally, she asked thoughtfully, "Those thugs said the man didn't pay for women, but he doesn't seem like that kind of person to me. And with his skills, wouldn't he have no trouble finding girls who like him?"

"We don't know the whole story, so let's not judge. That man is not simple. If you encounter him again, keep your distance," Ethan warned her seriously.

"Oh!" Lyra had originally wanted to spend more time with Ethan, but seeing his sudden, serious demeanor, she swallowed her words.

Back home, Lyra naturally recounted the evening's events, including the encounter with the man at the noodle shop. Percival and Chloe found the story interesting.

"Percival, do you know or have you heard of him?" Ethan asked, though he knew it was a long shot. Percival had been recuperating for years and wouldn't be aware of such matters.

"I really don't know. But according to your description, if he's a master-level expert, he shouldn't be obscure. Maybe you could ask Orion from the Harris family," Percival suggested, shaking his head.

"Alright, I'll take Sarah back to the Harris family and come back tomorrow morning to pick up Chloe," Ethan decided, wanting to find out more about Jesse. He suspected their encounter was no mere coincidence.

However, Carlos also hadn't heard of Jesse.

"This is the first time I've heard of such a young master-level expert and a monk at that. Actually, you shouldn't be asking me. There might be someone who knows it," Carlos reminded.

"You mean Phoenix?" Ethan's heart skipped a beat.

"Exactly. You're going to Misty Ridge tomorrow. Phoenix might know something about him," Carlos explained.

"Alright then, since you don't know, I'll have to ask Phoenix." Ethan nodded reluctantly.

The next morning, Ethan took Sarah to pick up Chloe. After saying goodbye to Percival, they also brought Beverly along to the airport. Cherry and Merrick drove separately to the airport.

Ethan planned to go to Misty Ridge first before returning to Nova York. He intended to travel separately, but when he went to get the tickets, he found out that Sarah had booked two extra tickets on the same flight as him. So, Chloe and Sarah would be accompanying him to Misty Ridge.

Finally, Ethan took them along. Everglow City was not far from Misty Ridge, and there was an airport nearby, making the journey convenient. The flight took less than an hour, and by noon, they had arrived at Misty Ridge.

"Misty Ridge truly lives up to its name. The scenery is beautiful!" Chloe exclaimed as she admired the view along the way.
