Chapter80 You Bastard

When one reaches a certain level called the ‘upper class’, no matter how intense the silent fight was, they still had to smile on the surface. It was an unspoken rule that everyone knew.

Unless they become archenemies, nobody would keep mocking someone on the same matter.

However, Ethan was good at playing dumb, which left Louis feeling highly irritated and somewhat powerless.

He couldn't just directly say he sent someone to follow Ethan. But even if he did, Ethan wouldn't be able to do anything to him, right?

“Mr. Wilson is truly a comedian. My friend happened to have something come up and had to leave, so we can only re-discuss this another time.” Taking two deep breaths, Louis restrained his urge to explode and blocked any of Ethan’s further inquiries.

“Oh, what a shame.” Ethan couldn't help but show a disappointed expression.

Just at that moment, a waiter with a tray came over. He accidentally sprained his foot, causing the already-opened bottle of red wine on the tray to directly tilt toward Sarah's side.

Fortunately, Ethan reacted quickly and grabbed the bottle, preventing the wine from splashing all over her.

Despite that, some droplets still landed on her dress hem.

Fortunately, Sarah was wearing a black evening gown. It wouldn’t be noticeable even if it got a little dirty.

Louis immediately stood up and reprimanded, “What's wrong with you? Miss Harris is my esteemed guest; couldn't you be more careful? Hurry up and apologize to her!”

“I'm sorry, Miss Harris. It was truly unintentional!” The waiter apologized repeatedly to Sarah, hurriedly grabbing a few tissues from the table to help wipe off the wine stains.

“It's alright, I'll go clean up at the restroom. You can continue your conversation!” Sarah waved her hand and got up, walking toward the direction indicated by the restroom sign.

After she left, Louis personally poured a glass of red wine for Ethan and smiled as he asked, “Would you like to have a drink, Mr. Wilson?”

“Mr. Wilson came to Seattle for business this time, right? I heard that the people from Shine Group and RP Investments are collaborating on tourism industry investments.”

Ethan waved his hand dismissively, “You already said it yourself; it's Shine Group and RP Investments’ collaboration. What does that have to do with me, an outsider? I’m just Sarah's friend, accompanying her for a visit. Projects like this are handled by Shine Group's top executives. Even Sarah doesn't know about it, so I’m definitely unqualified!”

Ethan's response intrigued Louis, “Why so humble? I know you're a business genius. The Harris family must’ve paid a significant price to have someone like you, right?”

“What do you think?” Ethan countered without giving a direct answer.

Louis glanced in the restroom’s direction, not seeing Sarah return. He lowered his voice and explained, “Actually, QU Group hopes that you can come and help us as well. How about this; regardless of how much the Harris family paid, we’ll add in an extra 10% for you as long as you can help us!”

“Ten percent? That's too stingy, isn't it?” Ethan chuckled, seemingly dissatisfied with that offer as he shook his head.

Louis tentatively continued, “How about twenty percent then...?”

Ethan remained silent, his expression disdainful.

“50%! As long as you agree, we can reach start a partnership immediately!” Louis clenched his teeth, appearing rather in pain.

“Double it, and I might consider!” Ethan shook his head, raising a finger toward Louis.

“Mr. Wilson, you’re quite greedy, aren't you?” Louis's face instantly turned unpleasant, though he internally sneered with amusement.

If Ethan could truly be swayed by financial interests, that means he wouldn't regard the other party highly. Things would be much simpler then!

Once he settled Ethan, Shine Group and Sarah would be at his mercy, wouldn't they?

Ethan narrowed his eyes, smilingly reminding Louis. “Well, my offer is only for those who have guts!”

“Fine, I agree! So, does that mean our collaboration is settled?” Louis feigned hesitation but firmly made up his mind, raising his glass to Ethan.

“Of course!” Ethan also raised his glass, clinking it against Louis's as they both finished their drinks.

Afterward, the two men laughed heartily as they exchanged knowing glances.

At that moment, Sarah returned from the restroom and saw the two men seemingly engrossed in conversation. She asked curiously, “What are you discussing so happily? You didn’t do something devious while I was away, did you?”

Upon hearing this, Ethan almost spat out his drink.

Louis looked at the two with astonishment in his eyes and asked cautiously, “You have a good relationship with Miss Harris, don’t you, Mr. Wilson?”

“Well, of course. Didn't you just ask me how much the Harris family has benefited me? You can see it right now!” Ethan wiped his mouth and said things that made Louis freeze.

“Mr. Wilson, your joke isn’t funny at all!” Louis wanted to slap himself, recalling that Ethan never played by the rules.

Sarah asked curiously, “What's going on?”

“When you weren’t here earlier, he asked me how much benefits the Harris family gave me, and he said he’d give twice the amount to hire me. So, I promised him that!” Ethan calmly explained, almost making Louis roll his eyes in anger.

“Benefits? You're willing to double what we can offer? Are you sure you can afford Mr. Wilson?” Sarah immediately caught on, mocking Louis sarcastically.

Louis's face turned as dark. He felt an overwhelming anger rising, but didn't know how to vent it.

“Don't say that. Maybe Louis really can really double the amount!” Ethan laughed and then earnestly asked Louis, “You saw the benefit the Harris family gave me, which is Sarah. However, I don't know how you plan to double it. What, will you introduce me to your two sisters? If you only have one, I won't agree since you promised to give me double.”

As soon as he said that, both Louis and Sarah’s faces darkened.

“You bastard!”

Both of them simultaneously burst out, with Louis quickly realizing he lost control. With an unpleasant expression, he stood up and said, “I have something to attend to, so please excuse me for a moment.”

“You haven't told me how many sisters you have. Remember to come back and tell me; it’d be even better if you bring them along. If I'm unsatisfied, I'll return them back to you!” Ethan's voice rang behind him, accelerating Louis's footsteps. He was afraid that if he stayed any longer, he’d be angered to death!

Sitting next to Ethan, Sarah rolled her eyes as she laughed loudly.
