Chapter 292 Jim's Scheming

"Stop saying that. If you must know why, then go back and don't bother me again!" Rex snorted coldly and ignored Caspar and Kenny, rising to walk into the backyard.

"Dad!" Seeing this, Caspar wanted to follow, but Jim stopped her.

"Caspar, Dad is angry. Don't push him any further!" Jim advised earnestly.

"Do you know why Dad doesn't acknowledge Gino?" Caspar stared at Jim, questioning him.

"Caspar, don't make it hard for me. I don't know anything. Dad has his reasons for saying what he did. Don't you trust him? If you keep this up, you'll break his heart!" Jim reminded her seriously.

Caspar bit her lip and fell silent. She had returned this time to uncover the truth about Gino's disappearance thirty years ago, but she hadn't expected such a strong reaction from Rex. She wondered what Rex was hiding.

"Caspar, do you think I would harm you? Or do you only recognize Gino, your full brother, and not trust me, your half-brother?" Jim's gaze bore into Caspar as he questioned her again.

Kenny's eyes widened in surprise. He had always thought Jim and Caspar were full siblings and hadn't realized they were half-siblings. Nor had he known that Rex had children with two different women.

"How could you think that? Your mom died early. Have you forgotten who raised you?" Caspar asked incredulously, staring at Jim.

"Caspar, that's not what I meant. I think you shouldn't ask so many questions right now. You've seen Dad's attitude. You don't want to make things worse, right?" Jim advised helplessly.

"Then what do you suggest? Don't think I don't know what you're up to. You're afraid Gino will come back and compete with you for the position of head of the Salvador family. Gino isn't that kind of person! Besides, if he hadn't disappeared back then, he would have been the rightful heir to the Salvador family!" Caspar's words immediately made Jim's face sullen. Her words had clearly hit a nerve, but he wouldn't admit it.

"Caspar, how can you think that of me? If Dad can accept Gino, I would be happy, too," Jim argued with a stern face.

"Jim, my mom just cares too much about Gino. Don't take it to heart!" Kenny stepped in to explain on behalf of his mom.

As he heard this, Jim's expression softened a bit.

"If you really want Gino Salvador to come back, don't make Dad resentful. Don't rush things. I don't know what happened back then, but pressing him like this won't get you anywhere. It will only make things worse," Jim advised earnestly.

"Then what should I do?" Caspar asked, her gaze complicated as she stared at Jim.

"You stay at home for now. I'll talk to Rex and see if I can find out anything. If I get any leads, I'll let you know. Or I can try to persuade him for you!" Jim said helplessly.

Caspar wanted to say more, but Kenny interjected, "Mom, Jim is right. We can only rely on his help now. We don't know the truth yet, and pushing too hard might backfire!"

"Kenny is more sensible. He understands things better than you do!" Jim nodded in satisfaction.

"Alright, you ask Dad for me, and I'll wait for your news!" Caspar reluctantly agreed.

"That's the spirit. I've already instructed the servants to prepare your old room. Kenny's room is arranged next to yours. You must be tired from the journey, so go rest. I'll have the servants call you for dinner." Jim smiled.

Once they left with the servants, Jim's smile gradually faded, and he walked in the direction Rex had gone.

Before long, Jim entered Rex's study again.

"How is Caspar?" Rex asked, putting down his book as Jim entered.

"She's temporarily pacified, but dragging this out isn't a solution. With Caspar's stubborn nature, she will continue to investigate. And it's not just you and me who know the truth. If Caspar can't get it from us, she might get it from someone else!"  Jim reminded expressionlessly.

"You mean Gino?" Rex squinted his eyes.

"Exactly. Although Gino has reservations now, he could tell Caspar the truth. If Caspar finds out her mom died at your hands..." Jim nodded slowly.

"Then make sure Gino stays silent forever! You're right; only by making him disappear can we keep this secret for good. Since you brought it up, what do you suggest?" Rex's eyes flashed with a cold light as he asked indifferently as if he were talking about killing a stranger, not his own son.

"In three days, an important guest is coming. Gino is now a master-level expert. He might catch the guest's eye." Jim sneered.

Rex frowned and fell silent.

Meanwhile, in Everglow City, Zephyr and Logan suddenly received orders from Brady to return immediately.

"Ethan just left, and we finally have a chance to establish ourselves in Everglow City. Why is Brady calling us back now?" Logan grumbled upon hearing the news from Dashiell.

"If you don't want to go back, I won't force you. You can explain to Brady yourself. Actually, it doesn't matter if you go back or not. The important thing is that Zephyr must return!" Dashiell stared at Zephyr.

Zephyr's face showed no emotion as he said calmly, "I'll go back alone. Let Logan stay in Everglow City to help you. Although he's a bit useless, his status as the Wilson Family heir can save you a lot of trouble!"

"Zephyr, what do you mean by that? Are you looking down upon me?" Logan asked angrily.
