Chapter 469 Twins
That night, Ethan ditched his usual martial arts routine and hung out in Chloe's room instead.
"Let me listen to our baby," Ethan said, laying his head on Chloe's belly, acting all serious like he could actually hear something. He couldn't, but he could definitely feel the little life growing in there.
"It's only been two months, what do you think you're gonna hear? My belly's not even showing yet," Chloe said, lying on the bed and holding Ethan's head, half amused, half exasperated.
"Did you forget I'm a pro and a miracle doctor? How do you know I can't feel anything?" Ethan shot back, looking all serious, then put his big hand on her belly.
Chloe felt a warm sensation flow into her, checking out the little life inside. But then Ethan's face got all weird, and his eyes went wide with disbelief.
"What's wrong? Is the baby okay? The doctor said everything was fine today and just told me to eat well," Chloe said, getting all anxious seeing Ethan's face.
"No, the baby's fine, actually doing great," Ethan quickly reassured her, seeing her panic.
Chloe let out a sigh of relief, then glared at Ethan. "Then what's with that look?"
"When you had your check-up, did the doc say how many babies you're having?" Ethan asked, changing the subject.
"It's only been two months; the doc just said I was pregnant and did an ultrasound. Wait, what do you mean?" Chloe's eyes went wide as she caught on.
"Good thing I checked; you're having twins," Ethan said, his face lighting up with joy. He hadn't expected Camila's joke to come true.
"Twins, are you sure?" Chloe was stunned by the sudden news. As a first-time mom, knowing she was carrying a new life was already amazing. Finding out it was two was a double surprise.
"I'm sure. My feeling can't be wrong. Even though they're only the size of my two thumbs now, there's no mistake," Ethan said confidently.
"I can't believe Camila was right," Chloe murmured, touching her belly in disbelief.
"We can't tell the gender yet. We'll know if she was really right when we can find out. Hopefully, it's one boy and one girl," Ethan said excitedly.
"So if it's two boys or two girls, you'll be disappointed?" Chloe asked, immediately displeased.
"That's not what I meant. As long as they're yours, I'll love them all. How could I be disappointed?" Ethan quickly shook his head, realizing his mistake.
"Good for you! Have you thought about names yet?" Chloe asked, suddenly curious.
"Isn't it too soon to think about names? And it's twins; we should talk to Mom about it later," Ethan said, a bit speechless. Chloe was way too eager to start thinking about names.
"Alright. But just so you know, whether we have one or two, Camila is still the eldest daughter, and you can't treat her any different," Chloe said, giving Ethan a serious look.
"Do you really think I'm that kind of guy? Camila might not be my biological daughter, but I've always treated her like my own. I get what you're worried about. Don't stress, I promise to treat them all the same," Ethan nodded, feeling both amused and touched by Chloe's concern.
After Chloe dozed off, Ethan slipped out of her room. As soon as he stepped into the hallway, he saw Sarah staring at him from her doorway.
"Not asleep yet?" Ethan asked, chuckling.
"Get in here," Sarah huffed and turned back into her room.
Ethan rubbed his nose and followed her, knowing exactly what was coming.
"Congrats, you're gonna be a dad," Sarah said, a hint of jealousy in her voice.
"Don't tell me you're jealous," Ethan said with a wry smile.
"Why can't I be? I was with you first, and my belly's not showing any signs, but Chloe's already pregnant," Sarah pouted, tossing a report in front of Ethan.
"You had a check-up today too?" Ethan's eyes widened.
"Just a routine one. My periods are normal. Are you gonna laugh at me for being self-deceptive?" Sarah lowered her head, feeling a bit hurt.
"Are you really jealous?" Ethan hugged Sarah, amused.
"Not really, just a bit envious. Chloe and Hannah both have their own kids, and now it's just Alice and me who don't," Sarah pouted, explaining.
"You just want a kid?" Ethan asked with a smile.
"What else? I don't expect you to give me a title, but at least we should have a child of our own, right?" Sarah said, feeling more and more upset.
"You've really given me a tough problem. Seems like we've had quite a few tries," Ethan rubbed his nose, feeling a bit helpless.
"So it's all my fault?" Sarah snapped, getting annoyed.
"Alright, it's my fault. I haven't tried hard enough. How about we give it another go tonight?" Ethan, feeling helpless, tried to comfort her.
"What do you think?" Sarah raised an eyebrow.
"I knew you had no good intentions calling me in here," Ethan laughed and, without waiting for Sarah to respond, pressed her onto the bed, starting another round of effort.
It wasn't until Sarah was exhausted and asleep that Ethan covered her with a blanket and left her room.
Luckily, Alice was already asleep, unlike Sarah, which made Ethan breathe a sigh of relief. With everyone resting, he left the villa and headed to the rooftop of the neighboring villa.
"Why are you back tonight? Weren't you supposed to be Beverly's bodyguard?" Ethan asked with a smile, spotting Trevor on the rooftop.
Actually, Beverly was doing fine and didn't need a Half-Step Grandmaster-level bodyguard. Ethan had sent Trevor over just to play matchmaker.
"She told me to come back and go to the Wilson Villa with you," Trevor explained awkwardly.
"Did Beverly kick you out?" Ethan raised an eyebrow, suspicious.
Trevor turned his head away, not wanting to talk about it.
Ethan sighed, guessing Beverly and Trevor didn't hit it off.
