Chapter 448 Doubled It

Gerald's face twitched a bit when he heard that, but knowing he messed up, he just grinned and asked, "Alright, how much you want for the car?"

"Not much. Since he's just a kid, let's say $100,000!"

Mark threw out the number like it was nothing, making Gerald's eyes nearly pop out of his head.

"What? A hundred grand to fix a car? You could buy a bunch of cars with that!"

"Enough!" Bradley suddenly barked, his face darkening as he glared at Gerald. "This ain't your business. How much to pay is my problem. You gonna pay for me?"

Today's mess was already bad enough, and now this broke relative, Gerald, was making it worse. If he kept yapping, they'd be the laughingstock of the town.

"Bradley, how can you talk to me like that? I'm just looking out for you!" Gerald didn't expect Bradley to snap at him in front of everyone, and his face turned sour.

"Thanks, but no thanks! Do you even know what kind of car this is? It's a luxury car, got it? And you think $100,000 can buy a bunch of them? Just stop embarrassing me here, that'd be a real help!" Bradley snorted, looking disgusted.

"How can he talk to Gerald like that?" Jessie, watching from the doorway, frowned.

"That's why I didn't want you to go over there. Only you would still care about such relatives!" Ethan sighed beside her.

"That much money?" Gerald, clueless about cars, believed Bradley and got all anxious, not caring about Bradley's attitude.

"Can you pay or not? If not, I'll get a lawyer and make sure he ends up in jail!" Mark sneered, threatening Gerald and Bradley.

"Who said I can't pay? I told you, wait for my friend to come!" Bradley's face turned red as he snapped back.

"You're pretty stubborn. I wanna see if your friends can cough up $100,000." Mark sneered.

"I don't know cars. Oh, Ethan!" Gerald, looking conflicted, suddenly thought of Ethan and glanced over at him and Jessie.

Before Ethan could say anything, Jessie walked over.

Ethan, knowing Jessie and Gerald would get involved, could only follow behind.

"It's just a rear-end collision. Your car's worth, at most, $400,000. This minor accident should cost no more than $20,000 to $30,000," Jessie walked up to Mark and stated bluntly.

Mark didn't expect to see a woman with such confidence in a small place like this. Even though she was older, she was still more attractive than most women.

"And who are you? You seem to know a bit." Mark wasn't mad; instead, he looked Jessie up and down with interest.

"I'm his aunt. The accident was his fault. We can offer $40,000 to settle this," Jessie stated her terms directly, not giving Mark a chance to argue.

"Who are they?" Bradley, surprised by Jessie and Ethan's sudden appearance, asked Gerald.

"This is your Aunt Jessie and your cousin Ethan!" Gerald quickly filled him in.

"Aunt Jessie?" Bradley was confused. He only knew about his uncles Gerald and Otis, and his dad Curtis was the youngest. He had no clue he had an aunt.

"Do you think $40,000 is enough? I just told him $100,000 to settle this, or he goes to jail!" Mark, thinking he was tough, didn't expect Jessie to be even tougher. He sneered.

"$40,000 is my bottom line. If you wanna go to court, we'll see it through! You got a lawyer, and so do I!" Jessie stayed calm and nodded.

"Are you threatening me?" Mark didn't expect Jessie to push back, and his face darkened.

"I'm just being reasonable. You need to know when to be satisfied and not push your luck," Jessie advised seriously.

Mark, not expecting to be lectured by a woman in this Bankgok, laughed out of anger.

"Fine, I've learned something new today! What's your name?" Mark stared at Jessie, smiling insincerely.

"You don't need to know who I am. Do you agree to $40,000 or not?" Jessie shook her head and pressed on.

"$40,000? I said $100,000, but now I've changed my mind! This won't be settled for less than $200,000!" Mark, with a cold face, doubled the price, clearly intending to fight Jessie to the end.

Ethan, who had been silent, suddenly snorted coldly.

He might not care about Bradley or Gerald, but he wouldn't let Jessie be wronged.

"And who are you?" Mark, not expecting another young man to confront him, turned red with anger.

"What do you think you're doing? Do you know where you are?" Anthony stepped in front of Ethan, warning him with a stern face.

"Do you deserve to wear that uniform?" Ethan sneered dismissively.

"I think you're here to cause trouble. Do you believe I'll arrest you?" Anthony, not expecting Ethan to mock him, threatened angrily.

Ethan didn't speak but handed over a document.

"What's this?" Anthony looked at the document, puzzled.

It didn't look like a military or police ID, but the military flag on it made his heart skip a beat.

"Do what you need to do, and don't look for trouble," Ethan reminded calmly.

Anthony carefully took the document, but after glancing at the information inside, he was shocked and looked Ethan up and down.

"Less talk, more action!" Ethan took the document back, smiling.

Anthony, sweating profusely, quickly stepped aside, not daring to speak.

"And who are you?" Seeing Anthony scared by Ethan's document, Mark frowned suspiciously.

"Just a small fry no longer in the military." Ethan didn't lie. Though the military issued the document, he wasn't a soldier and had no military status, just an honorary title.

"So, a retired officer!" Mark was understanding and relaxed, thinking Ethan was just a recently retired junior officer.

If that were the case, he wouldn't take him seriously.
