Chapter51 Exposing One's Whereabouts
With this matter settled, Beckett immediately looked at Ethan and smiled, “How should I address you?”
“I am Alex Smith!” Ethan once again stated his mother's surname.
Beckett invited, “Mr. Smith, how about coming to my office for a chat?”
Ethan glanced at Hannah beside him.
Hannah whispered in a low tone, “Beckett is a known expert in the industry, specializing in jade but also knowledgeable about other types of gemstones. If you want to find out about that bead’s origin, maybe you could ask him.”
“Alright, thank you!” Ethan's heart stirred, and he promptly agreed.
In Beckett's office, Ethan's enormous jade was carefully placed on a large countertop. Beckett held a magnifying glass as he focused on inspecting the vivid green jade, occasionally exclaiming in admiration.
Ethan and Hannah sat nearby, sipping tea. However, it wasn't until 30 minutes later that Beckett remembered their presence and reluctantly looked away from the jade.
He apologized, “I'm sorry for keeping you waiting! I just absolutely adore jade stones, so I hope you understand.”
“No problem. Since the association’s president has already examined my jade, I actually have a little bead here that I’d like you to check,” Ethan said as he put down his teacup and took the small bead of his pouch, handing it directly to Beckett.
“Is this a sapphire? Why is it still round?” Beckett was shocked when he saw the bead, but he realized something was off when he picked it up.
“No, this actually feels more like jade. Why have I never seen something like this before?” Upon hearing Beckett's words, Ethan’s face had slight disappointment.
Even an expert in this field couldn’t figure out this bead’s origin?
“President, have you ever seen a similar jade like this?” Ethan persistently asked, unwilling to give up.
Beckett explained with an incredulous expression, “No, I haven't. If it weren't for you showing me, I would’ve thought it was artificial! However, even if it is, I’ve never seen this material before. It's truly peculiar.”
Hannah requested, “Since you’re a mineral expert, you must know many masters in this area. Could you please help us find this bead’s origin, President?”
“Well, I'm afraid that even I don’t know as well! However, I do have a friend who specializes in jade appraisals! Maybe he’ll know this bead’s origins. How about this, my friend will be visiting from Houston to catch up with me in a while. By that time, I'll let you know, alright?” Beckett smiled wryly as he returned the pearl to Ethan and presented another solution.
Ethan silently put the bead away, only writing down his phone number on a piece of paper and handing it to Beckett.
“Thank you for your help. Please inform us for any updates.”
“Hmm, then I won't disturb you anymore. Goodbye!” Ethan stood up, intending to leave.
“Wait...” Beckett immediately called out when he saw this.
“Do you need anything else?” Ethan asked.
“I’m wondering if I can buy this jade from you. I'm willing to offer 8 billion!” Beckett's gaze was stuck on the jade, looking rather reluctant.
Ethan firmly refused, “I'm sorry, President, but I have no intention of selling it.”
“Ten billion!” Beckett gritted his teeth and added another two billion!
“To be honest, we need this jade for our own company, so I can’t sell it no matter how high your offer is,” Ethan bluntly explained, putting an end to Beckett's thoughts.
Beckett was taken aback by Ethan's words, “I wonder what your company’s name is, Mr. Smith...”
“President, Alex has already invested in my company with this jade.” Hannah explained with a bitter smile.
Beckett decided to make another request, “I see! Miss Collins, you’ve really met a great benefactor. No, I just can't let you have this great deal all to yourself. Look, how about this? I’ll also invest in your company, but under one condition— I must personally process this jade!”
Unexpectedly, he really liked this jade stone. Ethan smiled wryly and looked at Hannah, indicating that she should decide this.
“To have the President personally process this jade is really a tremendous opportunity! Then, I agree. I look forward to working with the President!” Hannah eagerly welcomed Beckett. This was a rare opportunity to collaborate with a top expert in jades!
At this moment, she realized Beckett was right; Alex was indeed her benefactor! He not only saved her from Richard, but also got her this large jade and a partner like Beckett!
After achieving his goal, Beckett personally escorted Ethan and Hannah into the car and watched them leave.
As Hannah drove, she recalled everything that happened just now. It all felt like a dream.
This man was really extraordinary, coming with one surprise after another!
“Oh, Alex, you mentioned earlier that you needed my help with something. Can you tell me now?” she suddenly remembered Ethan's previous words, curiously asking.
Ethan explained, “Well, it's nothing big. I just want to turn this bead into a necklace that I can directly wear. However, I don’t want it getting damaged! You should be able to do this, right?”
Hannah agreed immediately, “If you don't want it damaged, then we can only use the inlay technique to embed it entirely into the necklace. It’s not that difficult; once we arrive at the company, I'll have our craftsmen measure it and create a necklace for you!”
At the same time, the news of a young man's bet on a billion-dollar emerald at the mineral trading conference spread throughout the industry!
On that day, several media outlets and newspapers in Novaria reported this matter one after another, accompanied by photos from the scene.
Even if Ethan was smart enough to wear sunglasses, there was no guarantee that someone familiar wouldn't recognize him!
Inside Cloud Group, in the CEO’s office, Mike answered Tim's phone call.
Tim cursed at him mercilessly, blaming him for not showing up earlier and making him suffer.
“I'm lying in this bed like a corpse, and I could even resemble a mummy! Despite that, you have the nerve to tell me you can't find Ethan? What’s the point of me keeping you? Do you want me to ask Grandfather to ruin you?”
Mike's face grew terrifyingly dark, but he could only listen obediently because he was just a subordinate.
At that moment, one of his underlings rushed in and turned on the TV news.
The news was covering the incident at the mineral trading conference. Albeit wearing sunglasses, Mike recognized Ethan at a glance!
He abruptly closed the call and gritted his teeth, coldly ordering, “Find a way to dig him out for me! I want to know his exact location as soon as possible!”
“Understood!” the subordinate replied and immediately carried out the order.
“Ethan, I didn't expect you to go into hiding. Did you think I wouldn’t tell if you put on sunglasses?”
Mike stared at Ethan on the TV, his gaze cold and grim.
