Chapter 484 Voices of Opposition
The Wilson family's grand hall was bustling with people.
Fortunately, the grand hall could accommodate a few hundred people without feeling crowded, making the scene particularly lively, almost like a cocktail party.
Most of the main heads of the Wilson family's branch families and the top representatives of the company were already present, and the most talked-about topics were about Ethan and this reform.
"Why on earth did Brady insist on making Ethan the head of the family? Isn't this a joke?"
"Making Ethan the head of the family, Brady ends up embarrassing himself. He was the one who kicked Ethan out of the Wilson family back then. Maybe he wants to reconcile with Ethan this way."
"The last time I saw Ethan was eight years ago. He was just a kid and didn't understand anything!"
"Sounds like he understands now. I heard he's already a Half-Step Grandmaster. Maybe that's why Brady values him so much."
"I think it's more than that. Don't forget, Jessie came back with him!"
"What do you think happened with Jessie, who disappeared for years and suddenly reappeared?"
"I heard she was imprisoned by the Ashford family."
A series of discussions shifted from Ethan to Jessie, becoming the focus of everyone's conversation.
Just then, a distinct coughing sound caught everyone's attention, and then Lucas, Simon, and others walked past the whispering crowd.
Some people raised their eyebrows, showing a bit of disdain. Meanwhile, they seemed to have some concerns, lowering their voices and speaking less.
A group of branch family heads surrounded Dashiell, and someone asked directly, "Dashiell, give us a straight answer. Do we really have to follow Ethan's plan? This concerns the interests of all our branch families; we can't afford to be careless."
"Haven't you all already agreed to Ethan's reform plan? Why are you thinking of backing out now?" Dashiell glanced around at the people beside him, smirking as he reminded them.
"Dashiell, you can't say that. Although Brady pressured us, we wouldn't have agreed to such an absurd reform plan without your agreement. You promised us you had a way to handle it," The person immediately became anxious and reminded Dashiell.
"Alright, if I harm you, wouldn't I be harming myself?" Dashiell frowned and snorted coldly.
The few people who were initially a bit flustered nodded in agreement, seemingly reassured.
At this moment, Ethan entered the grand hall with Beverly and Trevor.
The previously noisy grand hall suddenly became quiet, and everyone's eyes focused on Ethan, who walked expressionlessly towards the podium, and the people along the way consciously stepped aside, making way for him.
No matter what they said in private or how much they looked down on Ethan, in his presence, they showed some fear and shrank back.
When Ethan stepped onto the podium, the people below gathered around, all smiling and greeting Ethan. However, most of these voices carried contempt and casualness, more like mockery.
"I heard some of you wanted to see me, so I came to take a look. I didn't expect so many people! Don't say I didn't give you a chance. Now that I'm here, if you have anything to say, speak up," Ethan got straight to the point, scanning everyone present, speaking calmly and confidently.
"Everyone wanted to see you to discuss the Wilson family reform!" Micah Wilson, the representative of the Lisbun branch, seemingly having discussed with others, stepped out of the crowd and got to the point.
"The Wilson family reform has already been concluded, hasn't it? You should have received the fax I sent, and you all replied the next day. What's left to discuss?" Ethan smirked, staring at Micah.
"The Wilson family has many branch families across the country, each being the top in their local area, including the businesses we manage. The main family has always held 51% of the shares of all branch family businesses, and no branch family holds more than 30%. This has been the rule for decades." Micah asked seriously, "Changing it now seems a bit rash, doesn't it?"
"So, what do you suggest?" Ethan asked.
Micah replied, "In our opinion, we should stick to the old rules. After all, the Wilson family has developed to this point thanks to the efforts of all the branch families. If you take back all the branch family shares, it will surely dishearten everyone." Upon hearing that, many people nodded in agreement, showing their approval. Some people in the distance even started whispering to each other.
"You all heard what he said. Now I want to know, how many of you share his opinion?" Ethan looked around at everyone and asked loudly.
"Micah is right. If the branch family shares are taken back, who will have a genuine sense of belonging to the Wilson family?" After a moment of silence, someone couldn't hold back and stood up to express their opinion.
With one person taking the lead, the others naturally followed. Their opinions were essentially the same: they didn't want to give up their shares.
"I see. What they said is what most of you think, right?" Ethan coldly smiled.
Everyone fell silent, no one answered, all looking at Ethan, clearly waiting for his response, implicitly agreeing with what he said.
"Alright, let me ask differently. I want to know how many of you support my reform measures?" Ethan didn't get angry but smiled lightly and suddenly changed his tone.
"I support the reform plan." Lucas was the first to stand up, followed by Simon and others. Beverly also stood up to show her support.
However, although those who stood up were significant, their number was much smaller compared to those who opposed.
Seeing the situation, someone beside Dashiell lowered his voice and asked him quietly, "Dashiell, should we also take a stand?"
Dashiell slightly shook his head at his allies, signaling them not to take a stand easily.
