Chapter 599 Arrival at the Ladies Guild
"Can you get in touch with her?" Ethan raised an eyebrow, skipping a direct answer.
"Yeah, but she went to Everglow a few days ago. Not sure if she's back yet," Bonnie said, pulling out her phone to send a message.
"Is the Ladies Guild all female disciples?" Ethan asked, curious.
"Yep, it's all women. Men aren't allowed. So even if you know Patricia, you probably can't get in." Bonnie nodded, a bit helpless.
"Seriously? What if an important guest shows up? Do they just turn them away?" Ethan was surprised by the rule.
"That's the general rule. But if it's a sect interaction or a joint event, the Ladies Guild does let outsiders in, but only in certain areas," Bonnie explained.
Just then, Bonnie's phone chimed with a message. "Patricia says she's on her way back and will be here early tomorrow morning. Should I tell her you're looking for her?" Bonnie asked Ethan after reading the message.
"Yeah, tell her you're with me." Ethan nodded without hesitation.
Bonnie didn't think much of it, assuming Ethan and Patricia were old friends, and mentioned she was with Ethan.
To her surprise, Patricia replied almost instantly, asking where they were. Bonnie looked at Ethan in surprise and then sent their location.
Patricia's message came back quickly: [Find a place nearby to wait for me. I'll be there tonight!]
"That's weird. Patricia said she wouldn't be back until tomorrow morning. Why'd she change her plans when she heard you were with me?" Bonnie was puzzled by Patricia's reply. In her mind, Patricia was always calm and methodical, rarely showing such urgency.
Ethan touched his nose and chuckled. "Maybe she's worried because you're with me."
Bonnie blushed. "What's there to worry about? It's not like you're gonna jump me." Ethan was speechless. She really had no filter. He kinda missed her attitude and tone from when they first met.
"Should we find a place to wait for Patricia?" Bonnie broke the sudden silence.
"No need, let's head to the Ladies Guild. Tell Patricia we'll wait for her nearby." Ethan decided. He figured it was better to head there first, so being alone with Bonnie at night wouldn't give Patricia the wrong idea.
Ethan didn't realize it, but his thinking was a bit self-deceptive. After all, they were still alone together in the car. Since Ethan said so, Bonnie went along with it. After sending a message to Patricia, Bonnie started driving towards the Ladies Guild.
The ML Guild and the Ladies Guild were both near Stardale, but one was to the west and the other to the east. The Ladies Guild was about a hundred miles east of Stardale, near Flowers Valley, a well-known scenic area. Most people wouldn't expect a hidden sect to be there.
About two hours later, Bonnie and Ethan arrived at Flowers Valley. They parked in the tourist area, and Bonnie led Ethan past the developed part and into the deep mountains. It was already late, and under the dim moonlight, they walked a few miles through the dense forest and stopped in a mountain hollow.
About a hundred feet ahead, there were two houses with lights on, indicating someone lived there.
"This is an outpost of the Ladies Guild, usually guarded by disciples to keep ordinary people from wandering into the sect's area," Bonnie explained when Kimberly Murphy shouted from the forest, "Who goes there, trespassing the Ladies Guild at night?"
"Kimberly, it's Bonnie," Bonnie recognized Kimberly's voice and replied loudly.
Soon, several slim figures approached quickly. Ethan thought to himself that any woman from the Ladies Guild was quite attractive.
"Bonnie, why did you bring a man to the Ladies Guild? Don't you know the rules?" Kimberly's face darkened when she saw Ethan with Bonnie and scolded angrily.
"Kimberly, don't start. He's Patricia's friend. I told Patricia we'd wait for her outside the Ladies Guild. She'll be here tonight. If you have a problem, wait for her to explain," Bonnie snapped back, clearly not on good terms with Kimberly. Since Patricia had already approved of Ethan coming to the Ladies Guild, she was confident.
"You say he's Patricia's friend?" Kimberly looked suspiciously at Ethan, sizing him up.
Ethan sighed. He didn't come to the Ladies Guild to cause trouble and had no interest in getting involved in Bonnie and Kimberly's conflict. He released his master-level aura.
Bonnie shivered, and Kimberly's face changed. She quickly said, "I didn't know you were Patricia's friend before. Please forgive my rudeness."
A master-level expert was not someone a Ladies Guild disciple could offend. Even though she was a Half-Step Grandmaster, on par with Bonnie, the gap between Half-Step Grandmaster and master level was one some could never cross in their lifetime.
Sensing Ethan's powerful aura, Kimberly immediately changed her attitude, showing she was sensible.
