Chapter 563 Something Big Happened

"Hey, judging by your faces, you guys probably don't know about the big drama in Everglow last night, huh?" Leo suddenly remembered something while driving and threw the question at Ethan and Angela.

"What drama?" Angela's brow furrowed.

"Giuseppe's gone missing," Leo said, taking a deep breath.

"How do you know he's missing? Didn't we tell him to get out of Everglow? Maybe he just bailed," Angela was shocked. If Giuseppe was really missing, that was huge. But him leaving seemed inevitable; otherwise, she wouldn't have let him go.

"Yeah, I thought the same. But Matteo's dead—found at Giuseppe's place. And Giuseppe? He's MIA," Leo explained, looking serious.

Angela was really floored this time. Compared to Giuseppe's disappearance, Matteo's death was a way bigger deal.

Matteo's status, while not as high as Giuseppe's, was still pretty significant in Everglow. His death would definitely stir things up, and Everglow would be in chaos.

"Yeah, the cops have sealed off the info. The military intelligence folks have taken over. Technically, this should be your gig," Leo nodded and reminded her.

Angela quickly pulled out her phone, only to find no missed calls, making her heart sink.

"Don't sweat it. Matteo had nothing to do with you, but he died in Giuseppe's villa. Plus, we had beef with Giuseppe last night. To avoid suspicion, the higher-ups wouldn't put you on this case," Ethan gently reminded her.

"Matteo died in Giuseppe's villa. The main suspect is obviously Giuseppe. What reason would he have to kill Matteo, and why did he disappear?" Angela frowned, realizing things were getting messier.

Giuseppe's disappearance was definitely not as simple as him just leaving Everglow as agreed.

"Honestly, we don't need to stress about it. Whether Matteo's death has anything to do with Giuseppe or not, it doesn't matter. None of them are good people; they got what they deserved," Leo chuckled, clearly in a good mood.

"It's not that simple. We just messed with Giuseppe last night, and now Matteo's dead, and Giuseppe's missing. If you were investigating this, what would you think?" Angela reminded him with a grim look.

"Could this have something to do with us?" Leo blurted out.

"Exactly, we all seem to have a motive to act against them." Angela nodded with a bitter smile.

"Anyway, I didn't do it, so I'm not scared. They can't pin it on me unless they have proof." Leo shrugged it off, unconcerned.

"He's right. Besides, you were with me last night. I'm your alibi. Anyone who wants to investigate you has to get through me first," Ethan reassured Angela, who was feeling conflicted.

Angela felt touched hearing this. Ethan's words made her feel incredibly secure, like she was worrying for nothing.

Angela and Leo didn't notice that Ethan frowned deeply when he turned his head. Maybe he was overthinking, or maybe Leo and Angela were just oversimplifying things. He had a gut feeling that last night's events were aimed at him.

Soon enough, they rolled up to Fragrant Garden.

With Ethan and Angela in tow, Leo's Audi breezed right through.

When they got to the reception room, Ethan spotted a few unfamiliar faces. Not because he didn't know who they were, but because he'd never seen them in person. At least two of them were big shots he'd only seen on TV.

"Grandpa," Leo greeted Norman, following Ethan and Angela.

"Are you Leo?" Norman quickly recognized him.

"You still remember me!" Leo's eyes lit up, feeling flattered.

Ethan was internally rolling his eyes, thinking Leo was really clueless. The big shots were discussing last night's events with Norman. As one of the people involved, even if Norman didn't remember him before, he would now. Just the fact that he showed up with Ethan and Angela was enough to give away his identity.

"Everyone, please head out for now. I'll talk to them first. I'll give you the answers you need," Norman said, turning to the others with a smile.

The group didn't say much, each bowing to Norman before leaving. But before they left, everyone gave Ethan and Angela a look, making Ethan's heart skip a beat.

"Just sit down," Norman said after the others left, looking at the three of them with a helpless expression.

Leo's heart skipped a beat, and he didn't dare to breathe, sitting down behind Ethan like a well-behaved kid in class.

"I originally came to say goodbye to you, Norman, and to thank you for setting up this marriage for me. But now it seems I can't leave anytime soon, can I?" Ethan sighed helplessly at Norman.

"At least you get it. I'm starting to regret setting up this marriage for you," Norman shook his head with a bitter smile.

"I figured you'd say that, but it's too late for regrets now," Ethan said, holding Angela's hand.

Angela blushed and tried to pull her hand away, but she couldn't.

"Alright, I'm too busy to joke around. Tell me, what do you think about this situation?" Norman asked, frowning.

"How am I supposed to answer your vague question?" Ethan asked, looking puzzled.

"Don't play dumb with me. You know exactly what's going on!" Norman was both amused and annoyed by Ethan's act.

"Is it aimed at me?" Ethan asked directly.

Leo and Angela looked at Ethan in shock.

Norman nodded. "Looks like it's aimed at you. Only you could pull this off without anyone knowing. Matteo is dead, Giuseppe is missing. Unless we find Giuseppe or more evidence, you're the prime suspect."

"No wonder those people were looking at me funny earlier," Ethan nodded, unsurprised.

"You're not worried at all?" Norman asked, frowning at Ethan's calm demeanor.

"Worried about what? Do you believe I did it?" Ethan raised an eyebrow.

Now it was Norman's turn to be speechless.
