Chapter 364 The Enemy
"I still care about you, which is why I'm telling you this. Dorian locked up Jessie for years; there has to be a reason. He brought this on himself!" Gino said, unfazed by Caspar's words.
"You've changed! I thought you were still the brother who loved me, but now you're siding with an outsider against our family!" Caspar said, tears streaming down her face.
"I can't take it anymore. Why don't you just tell her everything?" Ethan said, stepping in from the next room, looking frustrated.
"Ethan!" Gino exclaimed, trying to stop him.
"Do you think you can hide it forever? Your master asked me to help you sort this out. If you don't tell the truth, I will. You have to face it sooner or later. Stop being so indecisive!" Ethan scolded.
Gino fell silent.
"What are you two talking about? What truth? Gino, how long are you planning to keep this from me? Mom and Dad hid it from me, and now you too?" Caspar said, grabbing Gino.
Gino took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
"Fine, you want to know? I'll tell you. Our dad is actually our enemy!" Gino finally revealed the secret he'd kept for over thirty years.
"What? What are you saying? How could Dad be our enemy?" Caspar asked, eyes wide in disbelief.
"Do you remember how Mom died?" Gino asked, eyes still closed.
"Wasn't it an accident? An enemy killed Mom, and Dad killed the murderer!" Caspar replied instinctively.
"That's just what Dad told you. Did you see it with your own eyes?" Gino sneered, opening his eyes to look at Caspar.
"What do you mean? What do you know?" Caspar felt a surge of unease, a ridiculous thought she tried to suppress.
"You've already thought of it. Dad killed Mom!" Gino said through gritted teeth, fists clenched.
"Impossible. Who told you that? Was it your master? They're lying!" Caspar said, shaking her head in panic.
"Lying? Who's lying? I saw Dad kill Mom with my own eyes. Am I lying?" Gino sneered.
The secret he'd kept for years finally spilled out, making him feel both agitated and relieved.
"You saw it? How could Dad kill Mom?" Caspar stood there, dazed, muttering in disbelief.
"It's not impossible. If he didn't kill Mom, how could he bring his mistress home? If I hadn't seen him, why would he try to kill me, imprison me, and hire assassins?" Gino said bitterly.
"Dad tried to kill you? You said he tried to kill you, not that you just disappeared?" Caspar's eyes widened, struggling to accept that Rex was the murderer.
"Yeah. If it weren't for this awful truth, why would I have vanished? If my master hadn't saved me, you wouldn't see me today. That's why I stayed away for thirty years and didn't want you to know," Gino explained, teeth clenched.
"Then why tell me now? I'd rather you hadn't. I don't believe any of this! You must be lying!" Caspar shook her head, unable to accept it.
"I've said what I needed to. Believe it or not, it's up to you. Now that you know, I have no more reservations. He has to pay!" Gino said, fists clenched so tight his nails dug into his palms.
Caspar sat on the couch, tears streaming down, muttering that it wasn't true.
"Let's go. Let her calm down," Ethan said, walking over to Gino.
"Thanks," Gino nodded at Ethan. If Ethan hadn't pushed him, he might still be struggling.
"Wait!" Caspar called out as Gino was about to leave.
"What now?" Gino asked, frowning.
"What are you planning to do to him?" Caspar asked, voice trembling.
"I want him to repent at Mom's grave, then I'll kill him. You could try to stop me, but no one can," Gino said, walking out of the café without looking back.
Watching Gino leave, Caspar collapsed on the couch, looking lost and pitiful.
Just as Ethan and Gino left, Caspar's son, Kenny, rushed in.
"Mom, what's wrong? Why are you crying alone?" Kenny asked, heartbroken.
"Was it Gino? You came to see him, right? What did he say?" Kenny asked, eyes wide with anger.
"Don't say anything. I don't want to talk. Take me home!" Caspar shook her head.
"Okay, I'll take you home now," Kenny said, helping her up.
"I mean Sunridge!" Caspar said firmly.
"What? Why go back there?" Kenny asked, surprised.
"Don't ask. No, you don't come with me. I'll go alone! I need to ask him myself!" Caspar, almost hysterical, pushed Kenny away and ran out of the café.
Seeing her like this, Kenny was stunned.
Helpless, he rushed forward and knocked her out.
"Gino, it must be you! If anything happens to my mom, I'll kill you!" Kenny said through gritted teeth, looking at Caspar lying in his arms.
