Chapter 567 An Unpleasant Meeting

After hanging up on Alexander, Ethan noticed Angela and Marco giving him those eager eyes.

Hearing Lorenzo getting ready for work, Ethan motioned to them, "Let's chat outside."

Angela and Marco didn't ask any questions, just followed Ethan out and hopped into the car, speeding off.

"They just came back for a bite, and now they're gone again," Cynthia said, hearing the noise outside and rushing out, but Ethan and the gang were already out of sight.

Lorenzo shrugged, "They got their own stuff to handle!"

"Where we headed?" Angela asked Ethan as she hit the road to the city.

"Know where all the martial artists hang out?" Ethan asked with a grin.

"The Martial Arts Association, duh. Why you asking?" Angela replied, looking suspicious.

"Last night's mess was definitely a pro's work. Regular martial artists can't pull that off, not even you," Ethan said coolly.

"But most folks at the Martial Arts Association are just regular martial artists, some not even that. Only the big shots, like the president, might be Half-Step Grandmasters. If even they can't do it, why bother with the Association?" Angela frowned.

"Just 'cause they can't do it doesn't mean they ain't involved or don't have a real master backing them. Right now, martial artists are our best lead. Other clues can't be chased down in Everglow for now. I've got others on it. Once I wrap up my investigation and gather all the info, we'll figure it out," Ethan explained seriously.

Angela frowned. "I've heard of the place, but never been. Where do we start?"

"If you wanna hit up the Martial Arts Association, I can help. I had a buddy who joined after retiring," Marco piped up from the back, eager to be useful.

"Alright, Marco, get in touch with him," Ethan's eyes lit up.

"No problem, I'll call him now." Marco whipped out his phone and started dialing.

Just then, Angela's face changed, noticing four cars closing in on them.

"Looks like we got company!" Angela said, seeing the plates and passes on those cars, her face darkening.

"If they wanna meet, let's meet," Ethan said with a casual smile.

Angela slowed down and pulled over. The four cars did the same. Two suited guys got out, walked over, and knocked on the window.

Angela rolled it down, frowning but staying silent.

"Mr. Wilson, our boss wants a word with you," one of the guys said, leaning down and giving Ethan, who was in the passenger seat, a hard stare.

"How 'bout this: have him come over and ask me himself, or he can hop in my car. I can have these two step out," Ethan replied with a grin, locking eyes with the guy.

The guy frowned, clearly not thrilled with Ethan's attitude.

"Who's your boss?" Angela asked, trying to keep things cool.

"Mr. Wilson, you'll find out when you get there," the guy shot back.

Angela turned to Ethan, giving him a look that said, "Don't make this harder than it needs to be."

"Alright, for my wife's sake, I'll give your boss a shot," Ethan agreed reluctantly, not really wanting to deal with these guys but unable to resist Angela's pleading eyes.

Ethan got out and was led to one of the cars. Once the door opened, he climbed in.

Inside, Andrea was giving Ethan the once-over, like he was trying to read his mind.

"Are you Giuseppe's dad?" Ethan asked, noticing the family resemblance.

Andrea nodded.

"You're here 'cause your kid's missing?" Ethan asked, staying calm.

"Shouldn't I be?" Andrea replied, frowning.

"You think his disappearance's got anything to do with me?" Ethan snorted. He didn't care about Andrea's status; the guy's attitude was rubbing him the wrong way.

"You had a run-in with Giuseppe at the RD Club last night," Andrea reminded him.

"But we split up after that. And honestly, if I wanted him dead, I could do it without anyone knowing. Why go through the hassle and kill Matteo too?" Ethan said, unfazed.

"Exactly, so you're not the mastermind. But you can't deny this whole mess started because of you, and you can't just wash your hands of it," Andrea said seriously.

Ethan was taken aback, re-evaluating Andrea and finding him more interesting.

"What's your angle?" Ethan asked straight up.

"My angle's simple. As a dad, I just want Giuseppe back safe," Andrea said plainly.

"Sorry, but you got the wrong guy. You should be saying this to whoever nabbed Giuseppe, but that ain't me," Ethan sighed.

"But wasn't he kidnapped because of you?" Andrea shot back.

"Then that's his bad luck. Or are you, as his dad, too useless to catch the real culprit and planning to take it out on me?" Ethan asked, smirking.

"If I wanted to take it out on you, we wouldn't be having this chat. You need to know when to push and when to back off," Andrea said, sounding all lecturing.

"Don't give me that crap. You really think I'm one of your lackeys? Even if you were in that position, you wouldn't have the right to talk to me like this." Ethan was genuinely pissed now, any goodwill he had for Andrea gone.

Andrea was stunned, clearly not expecting Ethan to talk to him like that.
