Chapter 258 I Was Different from Them
In the reception room, Beverly, dressed in red, stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, leisurely sipping her red wine while gazing at the modern scenery of Everglow City, exuding an air of elegance and tranquility.
The high-end red wine in the reception room was reserved for important clients. Hearing that Beverly was Ethan's sister and given her aura, Joe naturally received her with the highest standards.
When Ethan opened the door and entered, he saw Beverly's graceful figure, smiling.
"As you've just arrived in Everglow City and come straight to me, aren't you afraid of being discovered by the Wilson Family?" Ethan asked with a smile, though it was more of a teasing joke. He knew Beverly was always cautious, and it would be nothing if the Wilson Family found out.
At this moment, Ethan felt somewhat fearless.
"Zephyr and Logan personally picked me up from the airport. It's quite ironic, really. This is probably the first time someone without inheritance rights has been treated so solemnly by those with them. But why do I not want it at all?" Beverly's pretty face showed a hint of a bitter smile. Perhaps, as a member of the Wilson Family, she wasn't keen on accepting the current situation.
Even though she was now teaming up with Ethan, seemingly about to give the Wilson Family a resounding slap, if she had a choice, she would rather not have this victory.
"You don't want it, and neither do I. Do you think the current Wilson Family is still the same as before? It's the same surname, but everything has changed!" Ethan shook his head with a bitter smile.
"How are they doing?" Beverly looked at Ethan's helpless expression and suddenly changed the subject.
"Don't worry. They've all been safely brought to Everglow City. They're now arranged in an old house of the Harris family, with special protection, " Ethan said calmly.
"Thank you!" Beverly nodded gratefully.
"If anyone should be thanking someone, it should be me thanking you. Your family has suffered quite a loss this time, right? You abandoned all your businesses. You really have some guts!" Ethan asked with a smile.
"After I made the decision, I had them prepare for the move. Everything that needed to be sold has been sold, including company shares. It's just a change of environment; everything has to start from scratch." Beverly shook her head slowly.
"I believe that in the future, you'll gain more than you had before. I promise you won't regret this choice!" Ethan stated confidently.
"To be honest, I don't think you're to succeed," Beverly replied with a bitter smile.
"Then why did you choose to stand by my side?" Ethan asked, somewhat surprised.
"It's not just me. My parents also hope the Wilson Family can return to its former state. We saw a glimmer of hope in you, which is why they are backing me!" Beverly explained with a complex expression.
"You're putting a lot of pressure on me, but don't worry, I won't let you down!" Ethan nodded solemnly.
"Sign the contract," Beverly said, taking a contract out of her bag and handing it to Ethan.
It was a transfer contract for shares of the Cloud Group. Ethan glanced at it and immediately smiled. "I didn't expect you to act so quickly. You bought so many shares from these guys without Brady noticing?"
"This was finalized just three days ago. I can't guarantee how long it will stay hidden; he will find out sooner or later!" Beverly answered calmly.
"These shares are now under your name. You don't have to give them all to me." Ethan pondered for a moment and then suddenly reminded her.
"How about I keep my original 20% and the rest you can acquire under the name of the new group?" Hearing this, Beverly didn't stand at the ceremony with Ethan. It concerned her and her family's interests, so she naturally had to fight for what she could. After all, she had to consider not just herself but also her family members.
"Alright, let's do that. I've already had Alexander prepare another contract. He will contact you." Ethan nodded and smiled.
"Then I'll head back first. If I stay too long, they'll start asking questions. It's a hassle," Beverly said, putting down her wine glass, packing her bag, and preparing to leave.
"No matter how annoying it is, it's just a few hours. After tonight, you won't have to deal with anyone from the Wilson Family anymore," Ethan said with a smile as he watched Beverly open the door.
"Isn't your surname Wilson?" Beverly glanced back at Ethan.
"At least I'm different from them. I won't give you a hard time," Ethan replied with a wry smile.
"I hope so," Beverly snorted noncommittally and walked out.
As soon as she stepped out, Beverly saw Sarah and the other two standing in the hallway. The atmosphere immediately became awkward.
Beverly didn't say much, bypassing the three and leaving directly.
"Were you three eavesdropping?" Ethan had actually heard the commotion outside the door but didn't stop them, mainly because he felt there was no need to hide anything from the three girls.
"I didn't expect Beverly to be one of your people. You've hidden it well. What else are you hiding from us?" Sarah, far from feeling guilty, questioned Ethan righteously.
"What do you mean by hiding? Carlos and Percival have also known for a long time. Beverly's family was brought over by people they sent. I didn't have time to tell you," Ethan explained.
"Yeah, right. You are always mysterious. I should have guessed since you dared to eye the Ashford family's Skyline Center. You could not let the Cloud Group you built go to the Wilson Family for nothing. You've been preparing for this day for a long time, haven't you?" Sarah pouted and snorted.
"You're right; I have been preparing. But do you think I wanted to do this?" Ethan retorted noncommittally.
Sarah was momentarily speechless. She knew well the kind of situation and painful choices Ethan had faced. Thinking about how he could remain so calm and composed in such circumstances made her feel a pang of heartache.
"Alright, no matter what, Beverly is on our side. Once we return to Novaria, we'll have the capital to stand against the Wilson Family. Novaria will be even more solid than Everglow City!" Chloe said with a smile.
"You three should get ready, too. For tonight's banquet, make sure you show up looking stunning. There's also a good show to watch; don't miss it!" Ethan said with a hearty laugh.
"We've long been aware of your knack for surprises. We wouldn't miss such a fun event! Ladies, let's go back to the hotel and get dressed up!" Sarah snorted playfully, pulling Chloe and the usually quiet Alice along as they left.
It wasn't that they didn't want to be with Ethan, but they knew he would be even busier before the banquet, and none of them wanted to take up his time.
After the three girls left, Ethan dialed Alexander's number to check on the progress of the press conference and asked him to come to the office directly after it ended.
