Chapter 278 Out of Curiosity
"Why do you look so nervous? Don't you want to?" Ethan looked at Chloe, who was breathing heavily and asked teasingly.
"Do I even have a choice now?" Chloe rolled her eyes at Ethan, blushing.
"Do you remember that time at my house when you said you were on your period?"
Ethan suddenly brought up the past, making Chloe embarrassed.
Seeing her silence, Ethan hesitated and said, "Actually, that day, you were not on your period, right?"
Chloe's body trembled slightly. In that situation, the lie she told might have been the best choice for both of them.
Of course, she wanted to give her most precious thing to the man she loved, but if they had taken that step back then, Ethan might not have had the chance to return to Everglow City!
"You knew?" Chloe looked at Ethan with guilt.
"I'm not stupid. Even if I didn't understand at the time, wouldn't I figure it out later? " Ethan asked with a smile.
"As long as you understand my intentions. And can't you hold it in? Why don't you go back and bother Sarah instead of me today?" Chloe pouted and hummed.
"You're not jealous? Or are you actually resentful that I was with Sarah first?" Ethan raised an eyebrow, hearing the jealousy in Chloe's voice.
"Who's jealous? Stop hallucination! I'm just afraid of the pain!" Chloe retorted, her face blushing.
"Pain? Didn't Sarah tell you that I know some medical skills and won't let you feel pain?" Ethan reminded her with a smile.
"No, still. A girl's first time should be on her wedding night!" Chloe looked at Ethan's mischievous face and immediately glared at him, speaking as if it was only natural.
Ethan's smile gradually faded, and he slowly let go of Chloe.
"What's wrong? Are you angry?" Sensing Ethan's change in mood, Chloe suddenly felt a pang in her heart.
"Chloe, I don't know how to answer that question. If I were to marry you..." Ethan turned to look at the towering buildings outside the window, his tone filled with helplessness.
Chloe naturally understood what Ethan meant. If she married Ethan, what about Sarah? Wouldn't that be unfair to her?
"That's not what I meant. I was joking. If you really want it, I can give it to you right now!" Chloe lowered her head and said softly.
Hearing this, Ethan smiled again. "What are you thinking? Can you escape today? Using the excuse as before won't work anymore. I'll check you personally!"
"You jerk! Shame on you!" Chloe, both embarrassed and angry, kept hitting Ethan's arm.
"It's still early. If you get tired of hitting me, we can have the waiter bring up some food. After we eat, we can take a bath and then get down to business, okay?" Ethan asked Chloe with a smile.
"I hate you. You just want to bully me!" Chloe huffed and ran into the bathroom, locking the door.
Soon, the sound of the shower could be heard from inside.
Ethan chuckled, thinking, 'Although she said no, her actions were answering yes.'
Ethan knew that if he took the final step with Chloe today, it would make things fair between Chloe and Sarah. It would also help avoid many awkward situations in the future when the three of them were together. However, thinking about the absurd relationship between the three of them, Ethan laughed.
"Mom, I don't know if what I'm feeling today is real, but if you knew about my current romantic situation, would you be happy or scold me? Anyway, no matter what you think, these two will be with me. Just accept it!" Ethan murmured, touching the Moon Bead on his chest.
Indeed, Jessie had already resigned herself to her fate. From the moment she returned to the secret lab Dorian had set up in the suburbs, her mind had been in turmoil.
"I've arranged everything you need. Now it's up to you. Remember your promise to me. If I don't get satisfactory results within a month, you know what the consequences will be!"
Dorian brought Jessie to the underground lab, his tone full of threats.
"As long as you don't harm Ethan, I will give you an explanation!" Jessie said through gritted teeth.
"Then let's get started. I've had all the mineral specimens you requested delivered. I hope you can find that mysterious substance you mentioned among these rare minerals!" Dorian nodded in satisfaction.
Without wasting any time, Jessie put on her work clothes and began working at the lab bench with a team of researchers.
"Keep an eye on her and report any progress immediately. If you find that she's stalling or not taking this seriously, notify me at once!" Dorian instructed Roy before leaving.
"Dorian, does this substance really exist? Where did you hear about it? Did she tell you?" Roy asked, frowning.
"Many things can't be explained. I know you are highly knowledgeable in the fields of chemistry and biology, but you still fall a bit short compared to Jessie. As some things are beyond your reach, you don't know about them, but that doesn't mean they don't exist!" Dorian reminded him in an unquestionable tone.
"I'm sorry!" Roy quickly lowered his head.
"It's okay. Everyone has curiosity. In fact, I'm searching for this special substance because of my initial curiosity. There are always people in this world who can spark your intense curiosity." Dorian laughed nonchalantly and left, with Roy watching him with a complex expression.
Late at night, in the spacious and soft hotel bed, Ethan held Chloe close, gently caressing her.
Chloe's pretty face still had a lingering blush, and her eyes had gained a mature woman's charm.
In the end, Ethan got what he wanted and made Chloe a real woman!
"You jerk, you've been bullying me for over two hours. My body is about to fall apart, and you're still moving?" Chloe pouted and complained as Ethan's hands continued to wander on her body.
"By the way, there's something I haven't had a chance to ask you. What's going on between you and Lyra?" Chloe grabbed Ethan's hand and suddenly changed the subject.
Ethan's heart skipped a beat, and he broke out in a cold sweat. He pondered, 'Did Lyra say anything to Chloe after she went back yesterday?'
