Chapter 359 Phoenix's Request
Jessie finally let go of Ethan's ear, glared at him, and said, "You better explain everything later. Don't think you can get away with it!"
Ethan nodded pitifully, but he felt warm inside. It had been a while since Jessie scolded him like this. He wasn't into pain, but he liked the feeling.
"Did I come out at a bad time?" Francis asked with a smile.
"Sorry for the scene. I haven't disciplined Ethan in years, so he's gotten mischievous!" Jessie said, a bit embarrassed.
"I agree. Only you can keep him in line!" Francis laughed.
"Want me to kick your ass?" Ethan glared at Francis.
"How can you talk to Francis like that? Just because you're the head doesn't mean you can be rude! If it weren't for Francis always protecting you, you wouldn't be here today. Show some gratitude!" Jessie grabbed Ethan's ear again.
"I was wrong, Mom! Can you give me a break?" Ethan pleaded.
"Once you're done, come inside. We have important matters to discuss," Francis reminded them with a smile and headed into Breeze Pavilion.
The pavilion was small, similar to Francis's wooden house in Emerald Valley. Inside, Phoenix, Munro, and Clarence were sipping tea, a specialty of Tiger Mount that supposedly prolonged life.
Munro and Clarence were lost in the tea's flavor. When Ethan and Jessie entered, Phoenix stood up and smiled. "Since Ethan is awake, I'll take my leave. But I need a word with him first."
"Say your piece and get lost. You know the way out, right?" Francis said, not even looking at Phoenix.
After hearing Jessie's account of recent events, Ethan had a rough idea of what happened twenty years ago and trusted Phoenix. He thought, 'If Francis let him in, there must be a reason.'
Ethan followed Phoenix outside, stopping a short distance away.
"I'll leave from here. Before I go, I need you to promise me something," Phoenix said seriously.
"Is this about the Divine Sea?" Ethan asked, raising an eyebrow.
Phoenix shook his head, surprising Ethan. 'If it's not about the Divine Sea, then what?' he thought.
"I hope you can help Gino resolve his inner turmoil and become a master," Phoenix said, catching Ethan off guard.
"Ethan, can you promise me?" Phoenix asked again when Ethan didn't respond.
"Yeah, I'll definitely help him out. But what do you mean by inner turmoil? Is it about his grudge with the Salvador family?" Ethan asked, starting to get it.
"Exactly. His biggest issue is his entanglement with the Salvador family. Only by resolving this can he reach the master level," Phoenix nodded.
"But shouldn't Francis be the one telling me this? Why are you so concerned about Gino?" Ethan was puzzled.
Phoenix briefly explained his connection to Gino, leaving Ethan astonished.
"So, Gino actually has two masters! You were his first master!" Ethan realized.
Phoenix wasn't just Gino's first master; he also saved his life. Francis had taken over as master, keeping it from Gino for decades.
"That's right. Now, can you answer my question?" Phoenix smiled.
"I'll definitely help him. Considering how many times you've helped me, I can't refuse. This is on me! Since he's already in Celestia Vale, can he still stay in Everglow City?" Ethan agreed, patting his chest.
"Staying in Celestia Vale is for his cultivation. But as long as his inner turmoil remains, he won't progress. I want him to return to Everglow City to resolve his issues so he can practice in peace," Phoenix sighed.
"Are you going to make him an ascetic?" Ethan joked.
"That's up to him, not me!" Phoenix laughed too.
"Got it!" Ethan nodded thoughtfully.
"I'm leaving Tiger Mount now. If you need me, send Gino to Misty Ridge with a message," Phoenix said, waving his hand. A space-time portal appeared, and he disappeared into it.
Ethan watched the spot where Phoenix vanished, touched his nose, and headed back to Breeze Pavilion.
"Phoenix must have talked to you about Gino, right?" Francis asked, still sipping tea.
"So you guessed it! You've been Gino's master for thirty years, and you let Phoenix ask me!" Ethan sat down opposite Francis, gulping down a cup of tea.
"Good tea!" Ethan felt a warm sensation and praised it.
"You can't even tell good tea from bad, so don't waste it!" Francis glared at Ethan.
"Francis didn't say anything because he wanted Phoenix to ask you personally. It's a favor. Don't be ungrateful!" Clarence reminded with a smile.
"Of course, I get Francis's intention. Some things are better left unsaid," Ethan shrugged.
"You always have an excuse!" Jessie suddenly patted Ethan on the head and scolded him.
