Chapter 366 Brady's Explanation

Hearing Jessie, Sarah felt a pang of guilt.

Jessie's question hit home, leaving Sarah silent and remorseful.

Orion and Clarence accepted her relationship with Ethan, but who knew if they secretly resented it? They wouldn't show it if they did.

Keeping things as they were might keep the peace, but if Ethan made a big deal about getting engaged to Chloe, it would be a different story.

Jessie reminded her she could pretend not to care, but would her family really not care?

"Alright, let's drop it. I think this is just Cherry's idea; Percival and Munro probably don't even know about it!" Ethan quickly decided to end the topic.

Besides Cherry, neither Percival nor Munro would use marriage to cause trouble. Plus, it involved a third family, so it would be handled carefully, unlike Cherry's impulsive move.

Jessie nodded. Cherry's sudden mention of the engagement caught her off guard, but Ethan's reminder eased her mind.

Given the understanding between Percival and Clarence, they wouldn't let anything embarrassing or harmful happen, so there was nothing to worry about!

Tonight's dinner was a reunion to celebrate Ethan finding his mother. Before it started, Carlos showed up with Isolde to join in.

To Ethan's surprise, dinner was harmonious. Cherry didn't mention the engagement, though she occasionally glanced wistfully at Chloe and Munro.

Ethan figured Munro must have talked Cherry into it!

As dinner wound down, Ethan planned to slip away to Gino's place. He had important matters to handle, including dealing with the Ashford family. Naturally, the others couldn't object.

But then, an unexpected guest showed up!

"Brady is here!" A servant rushed in to tell Percival, making Ethan, who was about to leave, pause.

There was still a lot to handle tonight. Brady sure knew how to crash the party, so Dorian would have to wait!

Percival glanced at Ethan, who had returned to his seat, and then told the servant, "Invite him in!"

"I didn't expect Brady to come in person; he must be serious this time!" Carlos said casually.

"Who knows how many bad things he's done?" Ethan scoffed.

Soon, Brady entered with Zephyr and Dashiell.

Though there were only three of them, no one underestimated their status, especially Brady, a master-level expert!

"I came uninvited; hope you don't mind, Percival!" Brady's gaze swept over Ethan and Jessie before he smiled and greeted Percival.

"Make yourself at home. It's been about ten years, hasn't it?" Percival smiled and nodded.

"Has it been that long? My memory's fading with age. Anyway, it's been a while, and you still look impressive!" Brady exchanged pleasantries.

"Mom, there's nothing for us here. Let's go. We shouldn't interrupt old friends catching up," Ethan said, standing up without even glancing at Brady.

Zephyr and Dashiell's faces fell; they hadn't expected Ethan to be so dismissive in front of Brady!

Brady looked awkward, wanting to get angry but holding it in, making the atmosphere tense.

"Alright, I did eat too much and could use a walk. Come with me," Jessie said, standing up to leave.

"Jessie, wait!" Brady called out as they were about to leave.

"What's up?" Jessie asked calmly without turning around.

"I came to have a good talk with you. If you leave, my visit will be pointless," Brady explained patiently.

"It seems we're the extra ones here! Everyone, let's head to the backyard. I have some good tea; let's go try it!" Percival stood up and invited everyone else to leave the living room.

Soon, only the Wilson family trio, Ethan, and Jessie were left in the room.

"You two wait for me in the yard. Don't come in without my orders," Brady instructed Zephyr and Dashiell.

Zephyr and Dashiell gave Ethan a hard look before heading to the yard.

"Say what you need to say quickly; I'm in a hurry," Ethan said impatiently.

"You should be at Half-Step Grandmaster level now," Brady said, looking Ethan up and down with a smile.

"So what? I know you're at the master's level. Are you planning to make a move on me here?" Ethan shot back.

Brady's smile froze. He took a deep breath to suppress his anger and said, "I came to talk, not to argue."

"Brady, there's no need to say more. It's still about those two things I mentioned before. If you can give me an explanation, we can continue talking," Jessie interjected before Ethan could.

"You want to know the truth about the car accident? I can tell you now. It was Herman's idea to send Matthew and you to Silvervale. Matthew initially negotiated the business with the Green family there. When there was a problem, we all agreed to send him, and Matthew himself agreed," Brady recounted.

According to Brady, the Wilson family had a business issue in Silvervale, so they sent Matthew to handle it. Since Matthew was in poor health, Jessie went along.

Their car was attacked by assassins shortly after leaving the Wilson estate.

Brady's account confirmed the car accident was no coincidence but a deliberate act. Someone wanted Matthew dead and even intended to kill Jessie.

If it weren't for an insider in the Wilson family betraying Matthew, those people couldn't have known the exact whereabouts of Matthew's car.

Later, the Wilson family conducted an internal investigation, and Herman disappeared after the incident. It was later discovered he had colluded with traitors from the Green family in Silvervale, embezzling a large sum of money and goods. Knowing he would be exposed, he fled in fear!

"Regarding Herman, it's no secret within the Wilson family. You can ask anyone to verify what I just said," Brady added.
