Chapter 1010 She Will Die
Clarissa was slightly stunned.
Of course, she had never thought of pursuing longevity.
After all, she never believed in such a thing.
But just because she didn't believe it didn't mean others didn't.
Coby, despite her intelligence, was still infatuated with it, wasn't he?
Thinking of this, Clarissa couldn't help but have a headache.
Then she sighed and replied, "Lauren, do you recall Emmeline fainting at the wedding the last time we went to Jara and her wedding?"
Lauren was dazed. "Of course I do. What does this have to do with them?"
"Of course, it has something to do with them! They entrusted me to looked for it, which is why I asked for your help."
Upon hearing this, Lauren quaked a little.
Clarissa felt she couldn't hide some things from her at this point.
After all, if Lauren's news was accurate, Jara and Emmeline would have to travel to F Country. They wouldn't be able to keep it a secret at the time.
Therefore, she told Lauren how Luca had revealed Emmeline's identity to Jara and how they had struck a deal with Coby.
Lauren was taken aback after hearing it.
She had always thought that it was something Clarissa needed, not Emmeline.
"Does it mean Emmeline will die if we don't collect the last five pieces before the New Year?"
"You can put it that way." Clarissa's face darkened.
"Why is Coby so evil? How can he play with other people's lives! Doesn't he have a wife or children?"
When Clarissa heard her angry voice, she couldn't help but giggle.
Lauren had always been like this.
Her intentions had always been the purest, no matter what.
In her opinion, good and evil could be recognized without any confusion.
However, she didn't realize that one couldn't judge a book based on its quality.
A killer could be a filial son, and the father who loved his child could be the murderer as well.
Clarissa sighed. In the end, she had no intention of explaining further.
With a smile, she added, "I don't know if he has a wife or children. In any case, kindly help me in taking care of this situation and inquiring about it. If the news is true, I will inform Emmeline and others."
Lauren nodded. She was well aware of the gravity of the situation at this point. Hence, she was no longer in the mood to joke.
"Don't worry. I'll surely find out for you."
Clarissa conversed with her briefly before hanging up the phone.
On the other hand, Lauren acted rather quickly.
In the evening, Lauren called back.
On the other end of the phone, Lauren's voice sounded a touch enthusiastic.
"Clarissa, I heard that he is indeed Mr. Ramsey, and he has a piece of Jade of Heaven. He bought it from a businessman about five years ago, when it was just speculated. However, I learned from him that his jade was a forgery because the authentic one was recently auctioned off."
After listening to her words, Clarissa was startled. "An auction?"
"Yes, it seems to be... an auction in Blink City."
Clarissa frowned.
"An auction in Blink City? Jade of Heaven?"
It made no sense. If the auction took place in Blink City, Jara and the others would've known about it.
After all, Blink City was Jara's home.
Thinking of this, she did not hurry to conclude. "I see. I'll tell them about it and get back to you later. As for Mr. Ramsey, whether his thing is authentic or not, please help me put him on hold and not reveal anything. Feel free to contact me at any time if you have any concerns."
"Hmm, got it," Lauren replied.
They both hung up the phone.
After that, Clarissa called Emmeline.
She informed Emmeline of the news she had received from Lauren over the phone.
When Emmeline heard it, she chuckled and responded, "That's true. But the auction was not held by others. It was the Marsh Family. We weren't aware of it at the time. Now that we think about it, we found that maybe it was from that time that Coby was devising his scheme."
"He purposefully organized such an auction to pique my and Jara's interest in the piece of Jade of Heaven. Then, at the wedding, he disclosed my illness. Unfortunately, we didn't realize it at the time, and we fell into his trap unconsciously."
After listening to Emmeline's words, Clarissa felt incredible.
"So are you saying that you've got the piece of jade?"
"Yes, but it's now in the hands of Coby."
Clarissa went silent for a while.
"Then, in your opinion, is Mr. Ramsey's jade authentic?"
With a faint smile, Emmeline said, "It makes no difference whether it's authentic or not. Don't I have to go over as long as there's news? We won't know till we arrive."
Clarissa nodded.
"If that's the case, I'll talk to Lauren about it. We'll go there together."
Emmeline agreed.
After hanging up the phone, Clarissa thought for a while and headed downstairs to find Anderson.
It was only eight o'clock in the evening. Anderson had promised the children that he would play games with them after dinner, so he was now in the toy room with Anne and Marf.
When Clarissa walked in, she saw the three of them sitting on the carpet. Anderson was demonstrating to the kids how to play with Legos.
Marf was only three and a half years old, but his intelligence was astounding. He already knew how to build a variety of items out of Lego.
Even the school's teachers lauded him for his brilliance.
Anderson had always been very proud of this matter. He believed that his children were all intelligent due to his superior genes.
On the other hand, Clarissa chuckled but said nothing in response to this idea of his.
Seeing her coming, Anderson waved at her.
"Why did you come down? Aren't you resting in the room?"
Clarissa's pregnancy was becoming apparent by the day. This was because she was expecting twins. As a result, her stomach was slightly larger than in previous pregnancies.
Logically, a pregnant woman of three or four months wouldn't notice anything different with her belly.
However, Clarissa could already feel the change as her body grew heavier.
Anderson was concerned that she would be tired, so he took her for a brief walk after dinner before making her return to her room to rest.
With a smile, she approached him. "I have something to discuss with you."
Looking her in the eyes, Anderson noticed there was an urgent problem at hand.
He turned back and told the kids, "Play by yourselves for a while. Mommy and I are going out for a while."
The two kids had a lot of company from the two of them recently, so they nodded thoughtfully.
"Daddy, go with Mommy. We'll play on our own."
