Chapter 905 A Threatening Manner
Someone brought them coffee as they sat down.
After serving the tea, the waiter left respectfully.
"Mr. Holland, long time no see," Skylar said to Jara as he picked up the cup first.
Jara slightly narrowed his eyes and lazily leaned back against the chair. He also raised his cup, saying, "Mr. Witt, you are so good at hiding. I thought you had died in the fire four years ago. It appears that you are still alive."
Skylar guffawed and exclaimed, "Fortunately, God blessed me with mercy, so I was able to survive. Otherwise, how could I possibly sit down for coffee with you today?"
Immediately, Jara's eyes turned cold.
"Don't talk nonsense. Where is Emmeline? The negotiation will only go on if you give her to me! Otherwise..." he said in a low voice.
Hearing that, Skylar also narrowed his eyes and put down his cup.
"Otherwise?"
The atmosphere abruptly became cold.
It seemed strained as if a taut string was about to snap at any moment.
Both of them suddenly stopped talking. Behind them, the attendants couldn't help but touch their guns in the waist secretly. As long as their boss gave an order, they would immediately attack the other party.
However, Skylar suddenly laughed.
The laughter was like a long sword, slicing through the tense atmosphere with ease.
With a smile on his face, he continued, "I really didn't expect you to be a spoony. I thought that your relationship with Emmeline had broken down since you put her into prison four years ago."
He added, adding coffee to his cup, "It turns out you still value her so much. It seems that we have neglected this all these years and have always been deceived by you, so we let her live in prison for so long."
His eyes got ferocious as he finished the last statement.
Jara had a very frigid face, and his dark eyes were as cold as two ice bricks.
"You don't have the ability to murder her," he continued, his voice deep.
Skylar raised his eyebrows.
Suddenly, he chuckled, as if he thought of something and smiled.
"You're right. Who can touch her with you guarding her all the time?"
"As for her whereabouts, I have already stated that she is not in our hands," he continued solemnly after a little pause.
"You can conduct a massive search if you don't believe me. You can check all the territories of the Icarus Association to see if I'm lying to you."
"Moreover, I admit that I really want to catch her, but what I want is her life, not a useless living person. Furthermore, if I were to catch her, I would threaten you with her as a bargaining chip."
"But, look at us now that we are fighting like this. Do you think I will still keep her in my hands if she really is with me?"
Skylar said as he spread out his hands.
"But your men took her away," Jara responded in a low voice.
Skylar nodded. "Indeed, but it was Grayclouds who did it. He and I are not in charge of the same department, so I really don't know where she is."
Jara had already discovered that the man at that villa previously was none other than Grayclouds and his assistant, Jason.
Therefore, Skylar did not lie to him about this.
However, given that he had come today, how could he be so easily let go?
Thus, Jara asked again, "What about Grayclouds and Jason? Where are they?"
"They're dead."
This time, Skylar said without even raising his head.
Jara was slightly taken aback to hear that.
This was beyond his expectations.
Frowned, he darkened his face. "How did he die?"
"He was stabbed to death with a knife." When Skylar said this, his eyes were indifferent, and there was no race of emotion on his face.
Then he continued lightly, "It's not just any knife; it's an extremely antique and unique blade. You may find it difficult to believe that people still use knives similar to those used hundreds of years ago. But I'm saying it like it is. They did die. Six persons were killed on the night of Emmeline's disappearance."
Speaking till here, his eyebrows furrowed, and his expression became sullen.
"To be honest, Jara, I know you don't want to make peace with us, not just because of Emmeline, but also because of the animosity that has been between us for the past four years."
"I believe you've already discovered it. You are right. We were actually traitors sent by the Icarus Association to lurk in Salvation Club a long time ago. We just didn't think we'd be able to reach such a high position in the end."
"Well, I was the one who fostered the fight between Salvation Club and Lost Vanguard. I'm quite aware of your hatred for me and your desire to murder me."
"So, I understand how terrible it must be for you to come here today to talk with me, but so am I."
"If there is any leeway, I don't want to sit here with you either. But the truth is that we have no way to go."
He extended out his hand as he spoke, and the person behind him promptly handed him a laptop.
Before passing the laptop over to Jara, he switched it on and swiped it across the screen multiple times.
"This, you see, is the Icarus Association's current loss of business. We discovered that there is another unknown force attacking us, in addition to you and the Jordan Family."
"We can't stop it because they're so powerful. We might have a chance to compete with them if it was the former Icarus Association. However, we are now being attacked from all sides. It will be simple for them to take advantage of this opportunity to take control of us."
Afterward, Jara glared at him coldly as he diverted his sight away from the screen.
"Why are you telling me this? Don't you know that I want you all to die?"
Skylar paused for a second.
He was probably not used to Jara being so direct, but he soon adjusted his tone.
Handing the laptop to his subordinate behind, he then replied, "Indeed, I know you hate us and will cheer if we fail. But have you ever considered why such a mysterious and powerful force chose to fight at this particular time? What is their ultimate goal?"
Jara didn't say anything.
Skylar went on, "You do realize that we're basically on the same boat, right? Although we are enemies, we can be allies in some ways."
"Just by looking at what they're doing right now, we can tell that they're not going for the small Icarus Association, but something much greater."
"Yes, I admit that things are extremely difficult for us right now. If things keep going the way they are, we will be done soon."
