Chapter 328 A Family Reunion

A few days later, it was New Year's Eve.
That called for a national celebration.
Since they were all in the Flaucford city, they naturally had to spend the New Year together. So in the afternoon, Clarissa brought Anne and Joy back to the old mansion.
Although it was during the new year, Anderson still had some work to take care of. He was still working in the office and would only come back later in the evening.
Clarissa called him in advance and told him to join them at the old mansion after his work, so he didn't have to make a trip back to the Starbay Villa.
For a moment, the old mansion of the Jordan Family was very lively. It was a rare family reunion.
The Old Madam had been very happy recently. It was no wonder. In the past, during the New Year, either Anderson was abroad or Chantel had something on and couldn't make it him. And even if they had come back, there would just be four of them. The Old Madam always felt a little lonely.
But this year was different. Looking at her children and grandchildren around the house, the Old Madam felt warm in her heart, and she seemed to look younger than she was at this moment.
After all, it was the New Year. As a member of the Jordan Family, Chantel still had to come back on such an important day.
However, perhaps because she was worried how Clarissa would feel about her return, the Old Madam asked her about it in advance.
Clarissa held no malice against Chantel from the beginning. Previously, Chantel went abroad because of the quarry matter, and that had nothing to do with Clarissa.
Now the matter was almost settled, it was natural for Cnantel to come back home.
Clarissa soothed the Old Madam while smiling. When the Old Madam saw that Clarissa was not unhappy about Chantel's return, she was relieved.
In the afternoon, Chantel returned to the old mansion after Clarissa.
When they entered the door, they happened to meet face to face. As usual, Chantel was pulling an attitude with Clarissa. But after all, after a few setbacks, she was not as arrogant as before. Even if Chantel was not willing to see her, she just snorted and went inside without saying anything.
Clarissa didn't bother to argue with her.
She thought that it was not easy for someone like Chantel, who was going to be in her thirties, to live and think like a teenager.
It was probably because Chantel had been pampered by the Jordan family, and also because of her pure and naïve character. She would believe whatever others said. Most of the time, she didn't think fast enough to think of a way to solve an issue.
Arguing with such a person would only make Clarissa feel uncomfortable, it wouldn't benefit her at all.
Clarissa had always been a person who would not treat herself shabbily. Since it was not something that she could benefit from, she was too lazy to do anything about it.
The Old Mansion was nicely decorated and it brought out the festive mood.
After entering the house, Clarissa let Anne go to play by herself. Marry and another servant in the old mansion looked at Joy together. She went to the kitchen to find the Old Madam.
New Year's Eve was one of the most important events of the year. The Old Madam had always liked to cook delicious food for her family by herself. This was a habit that had been passed down for decades.
And Flaucford was located at the north of Ascijan. The weather was cold here. During New Year's Eve, the tradition here was to eat dumplings.
The Od Madam and Chantel both grew up in the north, so they were no strangers to this.
However, Clarissa grew up in Visstead, which was located in the south of the country and rarely ate dumplings or noodles.
As a result, Clarissa was the only one who didn't know how to make dumplings, while the rest of the family knew.
Clarissa was a little shy for a moment. The Old Madam smiled and said, "Come if you want to learn. I'll teach you."
Chantel glanced at her. Originally, she wanted to tease her about it, but after a pause, she did not speak after something came up in her mind.
Clarissa did not notice Chantel's expression. When she heard the Old Madam's words, even though she still did not know what to do, she could only
Apart from the servants, there were only the three of them who were making the dumplings.
Anderson came back at 5:30 p.m. and played chess with the Old Master in the chess room.
The Old Madam slowed down her movements and said, "Look, put the filing in. Then, you fold the wrapper right here and press on the center with your left hand unmoved. It's like a central axis. Your right hand will circle around the edge of the skin to make the patterns. That way, the dumplings would look nice and delicious. Try it."
After staring at the Old Madam's movements intently, Clarissa had a rough idea of what was going on.
She nodded and said, "Okay, I'll try."
However, there were things that might look simple to do, but actually the most difficult things to do.
Clarissa had never expected it to be so difficult to make dumplings.
The skin of the dumplings, in the hands of the Old Madam, appeared to be easily kneaded in any shape that she wanted.
But in Clarissa's hands, she either couldn't make the circular motion or pleat the dumplings nicely. It was so ugly that she couldn't bear to look at it.
If the filings were not enough, the center of the dumplings would be dented; if there were too much filing, they would fall apart.
All of a sudden, she was in a flurry.
When the Old Madam saw this, she could not help but laugh.
"There's no hurry, learn it slowly. It's quite simple to make these. Just try a few more and you'll find the knack of it."
Clarissa blushed a little. It was the first time that she felt that she was clumsy.
When Chantel saw the Old Madam was stretching her neck, she put down the dumpling wrapper on her hand and said, "Mom, are you tired? Let me help you to upstairs to rest for a while."
The Old Madam was extremely happy today. She got up early in the morning and had been busy for a whole day.
She nodded upon hearing Chantel's words.
"Fine! After you finish making the dumplings, take Anne to the square nearby to watch the fireworks. Let Anderson stop playing chess and take Clarissa with him. The square would be filled with people who grew up in the Flaucford city. It would be a bustling scene over there. Go out and have some fun."
Chantel took off her gloves and nodded.
The Old Madam went upstairs to rest with Chantel's help.
Clarissa continued her "fight" to make the dumplings. In fact, they were almost done with making all the dumplings. There was enough for dinner, but she just didn't want to give up now.
Clarissa had always been a crafty person and a quick learner. She didn't expect that she hadn't mastered the skill of making dumplings by now.
No, she had to make a decent dumpling.
While Clarissa was busy with it, a soft laugh suddenly came from behind her.
She was stunned for a moment. When she turned around, she saw Anderson standing behind her. He was watching her while holding back a smile on his face, as if he had been holding it in for a long time.
Clarissa blushed all of a sudden. She turned around and mumbled, "How long have you been here? Why didn't you say anything?"
"I did. But you're making the dumplings so attentively that you didn't notice it."
As he spoke, Anderson walked forward and looked at the failed dumpling in her hand. He could not help but laugh and said, "You used too much strength. In fact, as long as you find the knack of making it, you don't have to use so much strength. Look, it's deformed."
Clarissa had already felt disheartening after being ridiculed by the Old Madam. And now, even Anderson was laughing at her.
All of a sudden, Clarissa felt ashamed and annoyed. She snorted. "If you know how to do it, you should do it instead!"
Anderson raised his eyebrows before washing his hands without saying anything. Then he put on the gloves and began to make the dumplings.
Clarissa was taken aback.
The snow-white dumpling wrappers in his palm seemed to be sentient.
In just a few seconds, Anderson had made a very decent dumpling.
Clarissa was so shocked that she couldn't take her eyes off it.
Anderson lifted his eyelids and glanced at her.
Clarissa's frustration grew. Disappointed, she said, "It looks so simple when you're doing it. Why can't I do the same?"
