Chapter 351 The Culprit Is Found

Old Master Levine had his own reasons for making such a big deal out of this incident.
At present, the relationship between the four great families was very complicated. Every little action by any of them could cause a chain reaction.
Although the Levine family had decided to unite with the Holland family by the ties of marriage, it didn't mean that they wanted to fall out with the Jordan family.
It would be the best for the Levine family to stay neutral and stable without getting on the Jordan family's bad side.
As everyone knew how serious the incident was, they had no objection to Old Master Levine's request.
There were even a few people, who wanted to curry favor with the Jordan Family, enthusiastically volunteered to assist in the search.
Soon, half an hour had passed.
The outcome of the search was nobody had a remote-controlled toy or anything similar in their possession.
Clarissa stood by and watched them coldly without saying a word.
Clarissa knew that if she raised any opinion at this moment, it would give others the false impression that she was being biased.
It was better to observe the situation first and let nature take its course.
Since the occurrence of such an incident, everyone was already asked to gather at the hall, so there was no chance for anyone to destroy the evidence.
Seeing this, Old Master Levine said, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused. Since the search conducted on the guests was futile, it could only mean that the butterfly belongs to someone from the house. Gimmy, tell the servants to search every corner of the house including a search on everyone in the Levine family. Don't miss a corner."
Gimmy frowned slightly, but he still did not say anything. He responded and brought the servant to start conducting the search.
Some of the guests whispered discontentedly, "It's not like something has happened to the child. Is it necessary to make such a big fuss over such a trivial matter?"
However, as soon as he finished his words, he was glared at by the people next to him and did not dare to say anything.
Not far away, Lara was standing in a corner with her face slightly pale.
Gillee glanced at her and his face fell slightly.
"Dad, there are so many rooms at our house. Gimmy can't handle it himself. I'll go help him."
Gillee whispered to Old Master Levine.
Old Master Levine nodded his head.
Gillee turned and walked to the rooms.
Clarissa looked at his receding figure as he left, her eyes slightly narrowed.
At this moment, Anne suddenly tugged at her sleeve.
"Mommy."
Clarissa turned around and gazed down at her.
"What's wrong?"
Anne raised her head slightly. Her eyes, which were like black crystals, were clear and bright. She said in confusion, "Mommy, I overheard the conversation between Lara and Uncle Gillee at the back garden tonight."
Clarissa was slightly stunned.
Clarissa turned to look at Lara and saw her slightly lowering her head. Perhaps because she had a guilty conscience, she had been twisting the strap of her handbag hard. Although her expression could not be seen clearly, Clarissa could tell from her demeanor that she was a little uneasy.
Hence, Lara probably did not dare to look up at them because of the guilt she was feeling.
So naturally, Lara didn't realize that Anne was talking to Clarissa.
Clarissa looked away from Lara and asked gently in a low voice, "Did you hear what they were talking about?"
Anne frowned while jogging her memory before she said, "I can't remember clearly. It seems that Uncle Gillee told her not to mess with you, but she was not too happy about it. She had said something later on."
After all, Anne was less than six years old, so it was not easy for her to repeat what they had said.
Clarissa thought for a moment and whispered, "Anne, don't be afraid. No matter what they say, it has nothing to do with you. You're the best. I will surely protect you."
Anne widened her bright eyes as she nodded repeatedly.
After placating the child, Clarissa got up and walked towards the rooms that were under examination.
At this time, Lara was called to her room by someone to have a check.
However, they did not find the butterfly either on Lara or from her room.
Lara walked out in a relaxed manner and looked at Clarissa provocatively before she said with a warm smile, "Clarissa, sorry to disappoint you but the butterfly is not with me."
Clarissa narrowed her eyes.
Lara walked past Clarissa and walked towards Old Master Levine with her head held high.
At this moment, a cry suddenly came from one of the rooms.
Gillee pulled a young maid into the hall while pushing her to the ground. At the same time, he tossed something on the floor.
It was the butterfly that had appeared in the surveillance video.
"Dad, we've found the culprit. It's her!"
"No, it's not me."
The maid looked panic-stricken as she tried to explain, "Old Master Levine, I've never seen this butterfly toy before. I really didn't do it. I don't know why it's in my room.
"You are still quibbling! It was found in your room. I just checked with the others, they said you were not around when the accident happened. No one saw you at all. Who else could it be if it was not you?"
The maid was at a loss of words. She was so anxious that she was about to cry.
Clarissa frowned slightly, stepped forward and asked, "What's your name?"
The maid didn't know Clarissa, but she knew that the person who dared to step out to question her at a moment like this must be someone extraordinary.
She quickly replied, "My name is Maggie."
"Where were you when it happened?"
"I... I went to Miss Lara's room to get things for her."
"Miss Lara?"
Clarissa tilted her head slightly and looked at Lara, who was standing by the side.
Lara smiled and said, "Yes. I was already downstairs when I suddenly remembered that I forgot to take the painting I wanted to give to grandpa, so I sent Maggie to my room to get it. Is there a problem?"
Clarissa sneered. "What a coincidence. Why didn't you send her out earlier or later? Why did you do that at such a critical time?"
Lara put on a gentle smile. "Clarissa, you can't be doubting me just because of this, right?"
Hearing this, Old Master Levine frowned slightly and looked at Clarissa.
Clarissa held back her anger and said in a low voice, "Not really."
She turned to Maggie and asked in a low voice, "You said you went to her room. Can anyone prove it?"
Maggie looked a little flustered as she stammered. "I.. There's no one, because there are many guests coming tonight. Everyone is busy in the front of the house, and there is basically no one at the back."
Clarissa nodded slightly. "That is to say, no one can prove for you that you were not at the scene when the incident happened?"
When Maggie heard this, she panicked even more.
"I really didn't push Miss Anne into the water. There's no reason for me to do that! I don't know why it was so coincidental!"
Old Master Levine had no patience to listen to her explanation anymore. He shouted angrily, "Someone, call the police! Take this cruel woman away from the house! Hand her over to the police. and told them she had attempted to commit a murder."
"Yes."
Some came forward and dragged Maggie out right away.
Maggie was frightened and struggled with all her might.
