Chapter 285 Find Fault With Her Deliberately
Nora's eyes widened in surprise.
"You know that?"
Clarissa merely said, "Yeah."
"Then why did you promise to let her work with you? You knew that she was setting up a trap for you but you jumped in!"
Clarissa smiled.
"How can you describe it as a trap? She is desperate and needs a job, and I just happen to need a capable assistant whom I know well. Isn't it a good thing for both of us? It's not a trap!"
Nora was silent.
After a while, she looked at Clarissa gloomily.
"Alright, since you think we can believe her again, just do as you said. But you can rest assured that I will watch her carefully in the future so that she will never have a chance to hurt you."
Clarissa was amused when she saw Nora's nervous and vigilant face.
Nora was all brawn and no brains.
In her opinion, she would never trust someone who had betrayed her again.
But she didn't know that there was so much helplessness and desperation in life.
Clarissa thought that if she was Rosie, when facing her own seriously ill mother and an unrelated stranger, she would make the same choice as Rosie.
Clarissa didn't hesitate over this matter. After getting in the car, they drove straight to Starbay Villa.
When Clarissa got home, it was exactly nine o'clock in the evening.
Anderson had asked Pattie to come here from Visstead to care of Clarissa and run the house. She also lived in Starbay Villa.
Anne had to go to school, and she needed to see a doctor regularly because of poor health. Clarissa and Anderson both had to work, and naturally, they couldn't stay with her all the time, so Anne still lived in the villa of the Jordan family.
They would pick up Anne and play with her every weekend or when Clarissa and Anderson were free.
Clarissa and Nora got out of the car together. Just as they walked to the door, they keenly noticed something was wrong with the atmosphere inside.
The villa was brightly lit, and there was a row of servants standing in the living room. Pattie stood at the forefront. She saw Clarissa and Nora coming in from the corner of her eye, and quickly tipped them a wink.
Clarissa understood and raised her eyebrows.
After walking a few steps in, she heard a woman's mean and cold voice.
"This is Flaucford, not a small countryside like Visstead. You have to know who you are working for. There are rules in the Jordan Family. Don't learn from the woman who grew up in Visstead and slum it."
On the sofa in the center of the living room, Chantel sat with her legs crossed, slowly swayed a cup of tea in her hands and taught the servants a lesson in an arrogant manner.
As soon as Nora heard what she said, she immediately understood whom Chantel was mocking. Her face changed, and she was about to lose her temper.
Clarissa stopped her, put a finger on her lips and motioned to her to keep silent.
Seeing this, Nora could only suppress her anger and take a step back.
Chantel didn't know that Clarissa had come back. She took a sip of tea and then added, "The Jordan Family is an old powerful, and honorable family in Flaucford. The house represents the status of a family. As for these glasses, coffee tables, and ornaments over there, you should buy the best."
"Look, how shabby the decoration is! Don't mention Clarissa's taste and like to me."
"She came from a small place and didn't have much knowledge, but you are different. You have always worked for the wealthy families in Flaucford."
"Before you came here, I think you must have a lot of working experience in other families. You should know what kind of furniture is good and what is bad."
"You should at least have seen how fish swim even if you haven't enjoyed fish. Besides, the Starbay Villa was designed by the most famous international designer. Even the flowers and plants inside are all carefully cultivated and arranged."
"Look! Now they're all arranged in a strange way. The house is not noble at all, but just like a small shabby courtyard in the countryside."
"I don't blame you, and I know that you couldn't stop her, but now that I'm here. Move all these things to their original positions, and just put them wherever they are."
Saying this, she was about to order the servants to move the furniture.
Hearing this, Clarissa sneered.
She couldn't stand it anymore, stepped forward and growled, "Stop!"
Everyone was startled. They turned around and found that she had come back.
They hurriedly greeted her. Clarissa nodded without looking at them, but looked straight at Chantel who was still sitting on the sofa.
Chantel was taken aback when she heard Clarissa's voice, but she soon reacted.
She was Anderson's aunt and had brought up Anderson, and she had done a lot for Anderson.
To put it bluntly, she was just like Anderson's mother.
Before Clarissa came to Flaucford, she could go in and out of Starbay Villa at will, and she could do whatever she wanted.
Couldn't she do that at this time?
Thinking like this, Chantel sat down again.
She glanced at Clarissa calmly and blandly.
Clarissa stepped forward and said to her politely, "Good evening, auntie."
Chantel snorted lightly and said sarcastically, "You're back. Did you hear what I said to them just now?"
Clarissa nodded, "Yes."
"Don't blame me for being meddlesome. I brought up Anderson. To me, he is like my own son."
"I know that he likes you and spoils you. This is your blessing, and I can't do anything about it."
"But now that you have become the daughter-in-law of our Jordan Family, I have to teach you something."
"Our Jordan Family is not a poor and humble family. We have our own rules and noble status, so I hope that you can change your inelegant behaviors and taste."
"You should learn how to become a woman worthy of your identity, so as not to be laughed at."
Clarissa sneered.
"I don't know what I did to make people laugh at me. Can you tell me?"
Chantel frowned and snorted, "You didn't even know what you've done. Aren't you ashamed to ask me? Look at it yourself."
As she said, she pointed to a decorative cabinet next to the living room.
"If I remember it correctly, there supposed to be some expensive antique vases over there. Why did you replace them with these things? Do you know how much money was spent on designing and decorating the Starbay Villa?"
"Every place inside is meticulously decorated. How can you move it casually? Have you ever asked Anderson's opinion? Have you ever asked my opinion?"
Clarissa sneered.
"Auntie, I don't understand. This is the house of me and Anderson. I just changed a few decorations. Why should I ask your opinion?"
"You!"
Chantel was extremely angry.
"Just because I gave the antique vases to Anderson! Besides, I'm his aunt..."
"I know."
