Chapter 924 A Smooth Talker

As Clarissa said that, she stretched out her hands and moved one step at a time.
Anderson smiled at them playing as he leaned on the door with his arms folded across his chest.
Surprisingly, Marf did not make a sound this time. Perhaps he had learned from his previous experience or his sister.
Thus, Clarissa could only rely on her instincts and feel her way forward. She kept calling out as she moved, "Marf, Anne, where are you? Hide yourselves. I'm coming to get you!"
In one of the corners, Anne stifled Marf's laugher with her hand as they watched Clarissa moving step by step towards the door.
At the door, Anderson looked at Clarissa with glee.
At this moment, Clarissa was wondering where the children were hiding.
Then, her eyes lit up as her fingers brushed against some fabric.
"Ha, I got you!"
Quickly, she grabbed hold of the clothes while her other hand stretched out and grabbed the wrist.
Immediately, she realized that it was not a child's hand.
Before she had time to think whose wrist it was, her hand was seized by the person. Then, that person grabbed her waist and pulled her close.
Clarissa was shocked.
Immediately, she tore off her blindfold.
What she saw when the blindfold was off was a man's gentle and handsome face.
Behind her, Anne clapped and laughed, "Oh! Mommy caught Daddy! Mommy caught Daddy!"
Marf did not understand what was going on. His mother was supposed to catch him and his sister. Instead, his mother caught his father, and they were even holding on tight.
Since Anne was clapping her hands, he followed suit.
Putting his hands together, he laughed out loud in a silly and adorable way.
Blushing with embarrassment, Clarissa pushed Anderson away and muttered, "What are you doing? Let go!"
With a laugh, Anderson replied, "Didn't you catch me? Why let go?"
Clarissa glared at Anderson, knowing that he was being mischievous, and warned, "Don't mess around. The children are watching."
Of course, Anderson would not behave foolishly in front of his children.
In fact, he just got a little soft-heartened from watching the warm scene just now.
Letting go of Clarissa, he took off her blindfold,
"Will the loser becomes the cat?"
Before Clarissa could react, Anne replied, "Yes, Daddy is caught. Daddy is the cat now!"
Anderson smiled. "All right. I'll be the cat."
As he spoke, he pulled the blindfold onto his head.
It warmed Clarissa's heart to see this. She took a step back and said, "Since you want to join in, don't back out later."
Then, she quickly hid together with the children.
The four of them enjoyed themselves to the fullest.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the world.
Thousands of miles away in Blink City.
After Anderson and the others had left, Jara realigned the security in the castle. Even though the Icarus Association was eliminated, there were still scattered pockets of sympathizers.
Although it was very unlikely that the opponent would sacrifice themselves for an obsolete organization, Jara was not taking any chances.
Before Emmeline was with him, he was not afraid of anything. Now for her sake, he must strengthen the security of the castle to the fullest.
As his arrangements were for her safety, Emmeline had no objections.
Once she was married to Jara, she would no longer be only a guest in the castle but the lady of the house.
Naturally, the servants were more respectful towards her.
As for Uncle Poick, he was not only more respectful but also closer to her.
That afternoon, he brought a stack of wedding dress designs to Emmeline and told her, "Mr. Holland suggested that you go through these designs for the wedding dress and see if you like any. If you don't like any, I'll look for more or get a designer to design one to your liking."
Till now, Emmeline still could not believe what happened the other night as if it was a dream.
Happily, she nodded, "All right. I'll take a look at it later."
With her assurance, Uncle Poick smiled broadly and left.
After Uncle Poick left, she began flipping through the album.
Every one of the designs in the album was by a top-notched international designer. All the designs were unique and beautiful.
Yet she clenched her fists, not sure what to do.
For unknown reasons, the upcoming wedding made her ill at ease.
Conventional wisdom had it that a bride would experience premarital stress marked by uneasiness and anxiety.
She thought that she would not have these doubts and fears after the experiences they had been through.
However, unexpectedly...
In a way, it felt funny. She shook her head, chuckling.
Right at this moment, Jara walked in.
"Did Uncle Poick bring the album over?"
Emmeline looked up from the album and smiled, "Yes. It's here. I'm flipping through it now. Do you want to join me?"
As he nodded, Jara walked over. He leaned against the armrest and stretched his arm across her back, almost covering her body with his. Looking at the album in front of her, he asked, "Do you like any of these designs?"
With a humph of indecision, Emmeline replied, "I like all of them too much to decide which one."
Lovingly, Jara patted her head and smiled.
"Take your time to choose. I'd like a specially designed dress but the time is too tight. So, we'll make do with those already done."
She looked up, and Jara's loving gaze melted her heart like honey.
With a smile, she said, "This is good enough. You know how I'm not that concerned with outward appearances."
To which Jara smiled in reply, "Even if you don't mind, this is a once-in-a-lifetime event. It should be as extravagant as possible."
Since he put it this way, Emmeline could not refuse, and she started to choose in earnest.
In the end, she was able to pick one that she liked best.
Jara took a good look at what she chose and nodded in agreement. Then, he passed on to Uncle Poick to get it done.
After Uncle Poick had left, Jara asked, "Where would you like to hold our wedding?"
Emmeline replied, "Anywhere will do. I'm not particular."
Her indifferent reply caused Jara to sigh in despair.
Gripping her hand, he said plaintively, "Miss Illington, please behave like a bride. Where in the world is there a bride like you who doesn't mind any venue for her wedding?"
His pathetic look made her laugh out loud.
Pouting in jest, she stared at him, "Since when are you so eloquent?"
Immediately, Jara groaned, "I've always been this way. Just that I never have the chance."
