Chapter 325 Everything Will Go Down The Drain

There was a sudden silence in the tea room.
Clarissa barely knew Old Master Levine. After getting along with him for a few hours, she did not bond with him either.
However, it was not good news after all, so Clarissa couldn't help but feel sad for a moment.
"Uncle Gimmy, my condolences."
Gimmy smiled.
"It's alright. It's the cycle of life that everyone will experience. Dad has been sick for so many years and he didn't get to enjoy life as much as he used too. Although it is not appropriate for me to say this as a son, at this age, it doesn't really matter if it is really the time for him to go.
It was just that Vivian had been distracted with grief since what happened to her child. Even though she had adopted Gabriela later, she was depressed and still could not let go of what had happened, which led to her death in her early thirties.
My dad couldn't let it go either. Over the years, he had been busy with all kinds of affairs at home. Besides, as he didn't know whether the child was alive or dead, he didn't bother to look for her. Now that death is imminent for him, he didn't want to have any regrets so he thought of looking for her.
In fact, it doesn't matter if Lara is really Vivian's child or not. As long as my dad believes that she is real, then she is Vivian's child. Otherwise, everything will go down the drain."
After Gimmy finished, they fell silent again.
For a moment, Clarissa didn't know what to say.
Now, she finally understood what Anderson meant by the fact that the child's return to the Levine family might not necessarily be a good thing.
In the Levine family, apart from Old Master Levine, no one wanted her to come back.
After all, Old Master Levine's health was getting worse each day. They had no idea if he had made a will or not. An additional beneficiary would mean that they might have an additional competitor for the assets, even if she was just a powerless girl with no support.
Wealthy families, in some aspects, could be so cold-hearted that it would give someone chills.
Clarissa didn't say anything for a while. Since Anderson had already gotten the answer he wanted, he didn't ask any more questions.
The two of them got up after excusing themselves.
Gimmy got up to see them off. When he walked to the door, he looked at Clarissa and wanted to say something, but stopped on second thought.
Clarissa knew what he wanted to say and said in a low voice, "Don't worry. As long as she doesn't provoke me, I won't say anything. I just take it as I don't know her. It's all in the past. They already got what they've deserved and I've also taken back what should have been mine. Lara has done all she can, but in the end, she didn't get any benefit out of it. Of course, I'm not going to pester her. It will just be a waste of my energy."
Hearing what Clarissa had said, Gimmy was immediately relieved.
"If that's the case, I'll express my gratitude to you in advance."
Clarissa nodded slightly, turned around, and left with Anderson.
It was still early when they returned to the Starbay Villa.
The two didn't eat much in the Levine family. When Pattie saw them coming back, she cooked Clarissa's favorite dumplings and served them to both Clarissa and Anderson.
Clarissa and Anderson sat at the dining table. Clarissa was thinking about things while eating the dumplings.
Anderson looked at her and asked, "If you really don't feel too comfortable about it, I'll take you directly to their house to reveal her true identity. There's no need for you to lose your appetite over it."
Clarissa was stunned for a moment. When she finally came to her senses, she quickly explained, "Oh, no, I'm not thinking about her."
Anderson raised his eyebrows.
"What are you thinking about?"
Clarissa hesitated for a moment and said, "I'm thinking, I've always heard that Old Master Levine treated Gabriela very well. Today, judging from what I had seen today, it is really different from the rumors. Do you think it may be because Lara came back that Old Master Levine did not see any value in Gabriella anymore?"
Anderson's expression darkened slightly.
"You've been pondering for half a day here, and this is what you've been thinking about?"
Clarissa nodded seriously.
"Hey! It's none of your business whether she's being treated nicely or not. You don't need to worry about her."
Clarissa didn't know why he suddenly got angry, so she curled her lips unhappily.
"She has liked you for so many years and is your ex-girlfriend. She might even be your first love. Now that she is in a state of despair and you didn't even show any concern. You're so heartless and ruthless. How dare you say that to me?"
Anderson was stunned.
Clarissa was not a person who loved to bring up the past. But sometimes, she couldn't help but tease Anderson about Gabriela.
He put down the spoon and looked at Clarissa. He said seriously, "I'll repeat it again. I've never admitted that she was my girlfriend. Our parents were just joking about it when I was young and the media had misunderstood things. Besides, even if she's my ex-girlfriend, we've already broken up for many years. We don't have anything to do with each other now, so I don't need to care about her. As my wife, you shouldn't show any concern with her, understand?"
Clarissa raised her eyebrows and gave a playful smile.
"Why are you so nervous? I was just joking with you. Why did you need to explain everything in such a serious way?"
Anderson was speechless.
Clarissa saw that his expression had darkened. Afraid that he would take it seriously, she quickly smiled to smooth things over.
"Hey, don't be so sensitive. Nowadays everyone has an ex-girlfriend or an ex-boyfriend. Before I met you, I had a relationship with someone else for a while. It's okay, I don't mind."
However, as soon as she finished his words, Anderson looked even unhappier than before.
At this moment, Pattie came in with a smile and said, "Sir, madam, Miss Jones is here."
Clarissa was stunned. She was a little taken aback.
She took a glance at the time. It was already ten o'clock.
Lauren had been living in seclusion since she had given birth to her child and came back to the Flaucford city. Usually, she would not go out so late except for gatherings.
At this hour, how did she get here?
With doubts, Clarissa got up and walked towards the door.
As soon as she walked into the living room, she saw Lauren holding the child, followed by Marry, her servant, who came in with a huge luggage.
"Lauren." She shouted and walked over. She asked with concern, "What's wrong? What happened?"
Lauren smiled. "It's okay. It's a bit late now. I hope I didn't disturb you."
Anderson walked out from behind Clarissa with a clam expression. He glanced at Lauren and said to her, "You two can chat. I'll go back to the study first."
Clarissa knew that he wanted to give some space for the two of them to talk privately, so she nodded and agreed.
After Anderson went upstairs, Clarissa led Lauren to the sofa and sat down. She looked at the child who was sleeping in Lauren's arms and said, "It's so late and it's so cold outside. Why did you bring him out?"
During the winter in Flaucford, there was already a thick layer of snow outside. It was not something that a child could endure.
Lauren sighed and said helplessly, "I have no choice. Anyway, I have to come here sooner or later. It's better to go by myself than to ask Marry to send Joy here tomorrow morning. That way, I can be rest assured too."
Clarissa was a little confused.
Lauren looked at her and said seriously, "Clarissa, could you do me a favor?"
Clarissa nodded without hesitation. "What is it? As long as I can do it, it won't be a problem."
"Help me take care of Joy. I have to go back to Visstead."
