Chapter 908 Some Clues
Although Quan didn't know why Jara asked him to investigate this, he still nodded obediently and agreed. Then he turned around and went out.
There was a crew under Quan's supervision that was specifically trained to spy.
As a result, it didn't take them long to acquire some information.
It was dinnertime at that point. In the dining room, Jara, Anderson, and Clarissa were all eating.
Quan strode in from the outside. When he saw that the three of them were all around, he was stunned for a moment, not knowing if he should say it or not.
Of course, Jara was aware of the reason for his arrival and did not avoid it. Instead, he said flatly, "Speak."
"I've got news on what you told me at noon today," Quan stated.
As he said that, he took out a document and handed it to Jara with both hands.
"They're from the Marsh Family. After some investigation, they indeed appeared in the town where Miss Illington disappeared, but we can't seem to locate their whereabouts. It seems that someone helped them conceal the truth."
Looking at the bits of information, Jara darkened his face.
Then he waved his hand and said, "You may go."
Only then did Quan turn around and leave.
After he left, Jara directly put the few documents in front of Clarissa and Anderson. "I suspect that this has something to do with the Marsh Family."
Both of them were shocked.
They had naturally heard of the Marsh Family before.
This was a clan that had been around for over a thousand years. It was even bigger and more complex than the Sapphire family.
The Marsh Family was the only family in this world that no one could figure out how powerful and wealthy they were.
Thinking of this, Clarissa suddenly thought of the mysterious force that inexplicably attacked the Icarus Association.
She slightly frowned and said, "Could they be the mysterious force mentioned before?"
"It's possible."
In a deep voice, Anderson added, "After all, there are limited dark forces in the world. After excluding all absurd possibilities, the one that remains is the correct answer, no matter how unbelievable it may seem."
Everyone at the table fell silent as soon as he said that.
Their moods all got a little heavy.
If it was the Marsh Family, they weren't sure they'd be able to crack this tough nut.
After all, the family had been developing for almost a millennium.
Furthermore, they had not identified the goal of the family's participation in this conflict until now.
Clarissa frowned and said, "It shouldn't be. They've been expanding for a long time. They should have taken action sooner if they were truly interested in our families' properties. Why did they wait till now?"
"Furthermore, I have a feeling that this attack isn't their style."
After all, although the Marsh Family had long developed, they had always maintained such a low profile that many people were almost unaware of their existence.
Why would such a low-key family want to get involved in this matter at this time?
Then, Jara said solemnly, "No matter what the reason is, I will entertain them as long as Emmeline is in their hands."
Stunned, they both looked up at him with a frown.
Clarissa questioned, "Are you going to find them? What are you going to say? Are you going to ask for Emmeline directly? Only if they're stupid will they give it to you."
Jara sneered.
"I have my own way."
After hearing what he said, Clarissa and Anderson were rendered speechless.
As a result, they began to eat silently.
After dinner, they went back to their rooms to rest.
Clarissa didn't want to go back to her room so soon, so she asked Anderson to accompany her for a walk in the backyard.
Just at this time, Anne video called her. Clarissa picked it up while chilling on the bench in the garden.
The two kids on the other end of the phone murmured and said how much they missed her.
For a while, Clarissa smiled and comforted them. Anderson took a seat behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist. "Why didn't they say they missed me?" he enviously asked.
"Ask them yourself," Clarissa replied with a chuckle.
Anderson let out a soft snort. After all, he was a boss, so he wouldn't ask this kind of question. As a result, he sat quietly to the side.
Clarissa spent some time on the phone with the kids. After comforting them, she ended the video call.
Turning around, she saw Anderson sitting there with a gloomy expression on his face. She grinned as she approached him.
"Tsk, why are you still jealous now that you're an adult?"
Anderson turned to face her and raised his head. He suddenly reached out and drew her into his embrace.
He hugged and tickled her, saying, "Huh? Who's jealous?"
Clarissa was squealing with laughter and a little short of breath. "Okay, okay. I am wrong."
Only then did Anderson stop.
He held her in his arms, pretended to be angry, and asked, "What did you do wrong?"
Clarissa suppressed her laughter and said, "I shouldn't have laughed at you."
"That's more like it," Anderson snorted.
After the two bickered for a while, Clarissa sat up and said, "Let's get down to business. What do you think about the news that Jara got today?"
"If the Marsh Family became involved, the situation might become even more complicated than we had imagined. It's not solely for properties and benefits. There should be something else," Anderson said with a sullen face.
After hearing his comments, Clarissa agreed with a nod. "I think so too. Well, what else do the Marsh Family lack after so many years of development? No matter what, they will not do this solely for benefits. After all, they have always been low-key. But this time, they actually made such a bold move. I don't think it's so simple."
"Do you know who the Marsh Family Chief is?" Anderson inquired abruptly as if something came to his mind.
Clarissa was stunned and said, "Isn't it Rowan Marsh?"
Anderson shook his head.
Seeing this, Clarissa raised her eyebrows in surprise.
"What do you mean? Is it possible that other members of the Marsh family are also the Chief?"
"No, there is only one chief," Anderson responded quietly, "but even though Rowan is the present Chief, I always feel that he is not the ultimate Chief of the family."
Clarissa frowned. "Why do you think so?"
"I don't know."
After pausing for a moment, Anderson then continued, "Perhaps it's a gut feeling. I'd previously had the pleasure of meeting Rowan, and I believe that given his abilities, he shouldn't have been able to steadily develop the family. Furthermore, he loves to boast, and his manner of dealing with things differs from that of the family."
Clarissa giggled. "Wait a second. Isn't it also his doing that they're fighting the Icarus Association now?"
