Chapter 784 Terminate the Partnership

Who was she?
She was merely a woman who badgered around, and someone whom he used to fancy. What was her status with him that allowed her to stay?
A guest? His woman? Or...
A thought came to her mind as she turned pale immediately.
On the other hand, Jara laughed in a low voice.
The laughter sounded indifferent, which carried an inexplicable emotion that Kayla could not understand. But somehow, subconsciously, she did not have a good feeling about it.
Then, he said in a low voice, "Get over yourself. The reason why you can stay here is that I am merciful. Do you part and don't call yourself my woman. You are not in that position. Understand?"
When he finished his words, Kayla's face turned completely pale.
With that, Jara couldn't be bothered to pay any more attention to her, so he walked out of the door and left.
......
No matter how fast Emmeline rushed home, it was already nine o'clock when she returned to the castle.
Because she didn't eat anything in the evening, she was incredibly hungry. As soon as she entered the door, she asked Uncle Poick for food.
When Uncle Poick saw her returned home, he was stunned for a moment. Surprised, he ordered the servants to prepare supper while he turned around and asked her, "Why are you alone? Where's Mr. Holland?"
Upon hearing that, Emmeline was stunned.
Raising her head, she looked at Uncle Poick blankly, and her delicate brows were slightly furrowed.
"Jara? I was not with him."
When Uncle Poick heard her answer, his expression changed.
"But he went to look for you."
As soon as he said that, Emmeline's face changed.
With a smack on his thighs, Uncle Poick said anxiously, "He went out more than half an hour ago. Before that, he called you several times, but no one answered, and you didn't come down for dinner. Then, he suddenly asked to get the car ready for him. I thought you had contacted each other!"
After hearing the explanation, Emmeline finally came to her senses as she retracted her gaze. She thought for a moment, and said, "Don't worry. If he didn't find me after a while, he will come back naturally."
Uncle Poick was stunned.
His lips moved a little as if he wanted to say something, but when facing Emmeline, who was cold-hearted, he didn't say it out.
Finally, he sighed and said, "I'll call him."
As soon as the food was served, Jara came back.
It was only about ten minutes or so that Jara entered the door. He looked grim, and anyone who saw him would notice he was in a very bad mood.
Of course, Emmeline noticed it as well.
For some reason, when she found that he went out to look for her, but came back with nothing, somehow the gloomy look on his face made her feel a little guilty.
Retracting her gaze, she then said unconfidently, "You're back? I heard that you haven't eaten yet. Would you like to eat together?"
However, Jara stared coldly at her.
He took off his jacket, and underneath the jacket, he wore a black shirt that accentuated his well-built body.
After handing the jacket to the servant, he sat down in front of her.
The atmosphere was really tense.
"Where did you go today?"
As he asked, his voice was deep and cold.
With a fork in her hand, Emmeline played with the food while avoiding eye contact. "I didn't go anywhere."
"Not going anywhere means you went somewhere."
There was a trace of anger in his tone.
Hearing his reply, Emmeline was slightly stunned. Thinking that they would still have to cooperate with each other for a long while, although she had a grudge against him, in the end, she needed his power to find out the real murderer who ruined the Salvation Club. She would never let go of the person who sowed discord between the two organizations and framed her.
It was too difficult for her to accomplish everything alone, so she had to rely on him.
With the thought in mind, she looked up at him and pursed her lips. Then, placing down her fork, she said seriously, "I went to handle some affairs."
"What affairs?"
"Private affairs."
She had no intention of explaining too much, but Jara's pupils contracted slightly.
Then, Emmeline explained in a serious tone. "Jara, I have the right to handle my private affairs. We are now partners, and I am not your prisoner."
Suddenly, he let out a sneer.
It was as if all of his anger had been released at that moment like a punctured balloon. However, the atmosphere at the scene did not relax at all. Instead, the situation became even more intense.
After a while, he replied, "Right? Emmeline, are you talking about your right with me?"
When he finished the sentence, he took a step forward, emanating an extremely powerful aura that compelled against her. Frowning, she didn't take a step back. Instead, she looked up at him calmly.
In the next second, Jara suddenly grabbed hold of her chin.
LIfting up her chin so she would look at him, he said in a deep voice, "Don't you know? The moment you stepped into this castle, I have the upper hand. Do you really think that you can negotiate with me and we'll be on equal footing? Who gave you the confidence and courage?"
His words were like steel needles stabbing into Emmeline's heart.
Suddenly, looking at him, she smiled.
The sharp pain from her chin made her clench her fists tightly.
However, she did not lose her temper as he expected her to be.
On the contrary, she was calm as if she didn't hear his heartless comments at all, nor did she bother about his rude tone.
With that, she demanded calmly, "Let go!"
With an impassive gaze, Jara looked at her and did not move.
Again, Emmeline repeated, "I said let go."
This time, he could sense the coldness in her tone as his eyebrows loosened up, finally letting go of her.
Then, Emmeline took a step back, raising her hand, and touched her chin.
Staring at him coldly, she said in a low voice, "Jara, I always thought that a fair partnership was built on the foundation of having a mutual agreement and equal plainfield on both sides. Now it seems that your ideals are not in accord with mine. Since that's the case, I won't force you. From today onward, we will part our separate ways and will no longer have anything to do with each other."
After she said that, she turned around calmly and left.
Suddenly, the entire living room fell silent.
Not only Jara but even Uncle Poick, who was next to him, was too stunned.
In any case, they had never expected that Emmeline would be so determined.
After a few seconds, Jara finally came to his senses as he stepped forward and grabbed hold of her hand.
"Stop."
"Let go!"
Turning around, Emmeline swung away Jara's hand. Without expecting her reaction, Jara fell two steps backward. The two of them looked at each other in the eyes maliciously.
Then, he said in a cold voice, "Emmeline, come here! I went overboard with what I said just now. Let's discuss about it again."
However, Emmeline sneered.
A sense of sadness arose in her. She couldn't tell where it came from or why it happened.
All of a sudden, she just felt exhausted. It was as if the struggles and conflicts she had suppressed over the past few days were suddenly magnified and exploded at that moment.
Hence, she shook her head and said, "No, I won't. Jara, let's terminate our partnership!"
