Chapter 967 Grandma's Relic

Anne nodded, held the art knife, and swiftly tore open those boxes in front of her.
Indeed, girls were fond of things like gift boxes.
Usually, no matter how gentle and weak a girl was, she would be fast and accurate when it came to opening presents.
After Anne opened the gifts, she was satisfied.
Then, Clarissa taught her how to put away her gifts and took her out of the warehouse.
"Mommy, I've finished opening my presents. So, you can rest assured and go to work now."
Hearing that, Clarissa nodded and took a look at the time. It was only 10:30 a.m., which was still early.
When she was about to leave after saying a few words to Anne, a white object fell to the ground.
"Ah, my jade pendant!" Anne exclaimed.
Right away, Clarissa turned around and saw Anne picking up a jade pendant from the ground. She quickly went over to have a look.
It turned out to be the jade pendant that Chantel had given to Anne.
Last night, Clarissa just briefly glanced at it through the dim light and found it familiar. She thought that it somehow looked like Sierra's relic.
However, at that time, she didn't take this thought seriously.
After all, Sierra had passed away for so many years, and there was nothing left. Thus, there was no way Chantel would have her jade pendant.
Having that thought, she didn't care much and got over it.
But now, when she looked at the clear patterns on the jade pendant, she was shocked.
As the familiar feeling became stronger, she took the jade pendant from Anne's hand.
"Mommy, what's wrong?"
Anne was puzzled.
Clarissa didn't reply. Carefully, she caressed the texture of the jade pendant, flipped it around, and looked at it for a long time. Finally, by the sunlight coming in from the door, she saw the initials carved in the center of the pendant.
It was the characters "S" and "C".
Once she saw that, she was taken aback.
How... how could this be possible?
Outsiders might not know, but Clarissa knew very well that the Campos family was the biggest in Visstead. Her grandfather, Arnold Campos, was influential in the city. Thanks to that, his only daughter, Sierra, had lived a luxurious life since young.
As he wanted Sierra to stand out from the masses, Arnold had nurtured her talents and hobbies since she was a child. Besides, all of her personal items would be marked with a unique symbol, signifying that these items exclusively belonged to her.
In fact, the so-called unique symbol was just the initials of her name.
All of her items—tablewares, stationaries, jewelry, clothes, car, and so on—were engraved with this symbol.
Clarissa once thought that she would never get to see this symbol again in her life. Nonetheless, it appeared on the small jade pendant in her hand.
As she stared at the pendant, her face was pale, and she was completely immersed in her memories.
On the other hand, seeing that Clarissa was standing there in a trance, Anne was so scared and anxious that she was about to cry.
While pulling Clarissa's sleeve, she shouted, "Mommy, Mommy, are you okay? You're scaring me."
Just then, a drop of hot tear dropped on the back of Clarissa's hand.
Shocked by the hot sensation, Clarissa finally came to her senses. Then, she looked at Anne absent-mindedly.
For a while, tears glided over her face before she realized that she was actually crying.
Seeing that, Anne was frightened and burst into tears.
At once, Clarissa wiped away her tears and crouched down to comfort Anne, "I'm fine, Anne. Don't worry. I was just reminded of something."
While Anne was twitching her mouth, her tears rolled down her cheeks like a broken string of pearls.
"Don't be sad, Mommy. If you feel sad, I will feel sad too."
As she spoke, she used her soft little hands to wipe away Clarissa's tears.
With that, Clarissa felt a lump in her throat, and tears kept gushing from her eyes.
"Okay, I won't cry, and I won't be sad, so you shouldn't cry either. Don't you remember? You're the most beautiful girl in the world, and beautiful girls don't cry." She forced a smile.
To that, Anne nodded.
Looking at the jade pendant, Clarissa sighed.
Upon seeing her expression, Anne asked, "Mommy, did you cry because of this jade pendant?"
Clarissa nodded. "Yes, it reminds me of my mother, that is, your grandmother. Did you see the small initials on it?"
As she said that, she led Anne to stand under the sunlight and flipped the pendant over for Anne to see.
"Yes, here it is!" Anne cried in surprise.
With a smile, Clarissa explained, "This is the special mark that is craved on your grandmother's belongings. I always thought that there isn't anything left from her, but now, I realize that there is."
Confused, Anne blinked her eyes and asked, "But Grandma's name is Vivian Leonard. Why did she carve S and C?"
Upon hearing what she said, Clarissa was stunned.
Only then, she remembered Anne did not know that her mother had been switched in the past and grew up in Visstead.
Before Anne could understand these complicated relationships, she had reunited with Aidan and her biological mother, Vivian. Therefore, to Anne, Vivian was her grandmother.
Thinking about that, Clarissa chuckled softly and explained, "This is another grandmother. She is the one who raised me and gave me a second chance to live."
Although Anne couldn't really understand, she still tried her best to comprehend Clarissa's words.
"I see. Anyway, she is also my grandma, and since it's hers, we must treasure it this time."
With a smile, Clarissa replied, "That's right. So, remember to keep it safe. Don't lose it."
Hearing this, Anne suddenly felt a little nervous.
"But... but I am bad at keeping things. What if I lose it?"
As she spoke, she furrowed her brows before her eyes suddenly lit up.
"Mommy, why don't you keep it for me? When we are going to meet Grandma one day, you can take it out and give me. Then, I will wear it to meet her. She will be happy to see that, won't she?"
For a moment, Clarissa was stunned, and a sour feeling instantly welled up in her heart.
She didn't know how to explain to Anne that she would never see Sierra again.
Because Sierra had passed away many years ago.
Even so, she sniffed and forced a smile.
"Sure, Mommy will keep it for you. Next time when you're going to meet Grandma, you can wear it. I believe when she sees it, she will more fond of you."
"Okay, deal."
Happily, Anne handed the jade pendant to Clarissa and went back to her room to read her books.
