Chapter 395 The Mysterious Family

As the phone was put on speaker, Clarissa also heard Marty's words.
In fact, Clarissa had always been very interested in the Sapphire Financial Group. She just had no chance to touch base with it before. Now that she heard it, she naturally wanted to go.
Most importantly, as far as she knew, the emblem of the Sapphire Financial Group was a purple and gold flower. She didn't know whether they had anything to do with Mark's death.
She blinked her eyes while looking at Anderson. When Anderson saw this, he agreed.
The next day, the auction was held in the international hall as scheduled.
Because it was an important occasion, Clarissa was wearing a dark evening gown and had styled her hair, which made her look like a fairy.
Anderson was also dressed in a white suit. His was short and neat, and he looked well-dressed. Compared to Marty's delicate appearance, Anderson gave people the feeling that he was cold and aloof.
Clarissa held his hand as they arrived at the international hall on time.
A strict security check was set up at the gate. Only people with the invitation card were allowed in.
The Four Great Families were naturally qualified to attend the auction, and Anderson was no exception. After the security check, they entered into a huge exhibition hall, in which many people had already arrived. Not only the people from Historeiz were here, but also the celebrities from all countries had gathered here.
When Clarissa looked at many faces that could only be seen on the international news in the past, she could not help but be surprised.
She became even more curious about the Sapphire family.
It was still early and the auction hadn't officially begun yet.
The three of them found a seat and sat down.
Clarissa couldn't resist the curiosity in her heart and asked, "What's the background of the Sapphire family? It can gather so many international big shots here."
Marty smiled and said, "You have no clue, haven't you? Have you heard of the Hampden family?"
Clarissa was slightly stunned. "Isn't that the surname of the former royal family?"
"They're from the royal family from the previous dynasty."
Clarissa stood there, stunned.
Anderson stroked her hair and said softly, "The Sapphire family is the descendant of the Hampden family. After the previous dynasty ended, the members of the Hampden family were scattered all over the world and formed the Sapphire Financial Group, which is now the Sapphire family."
Clarissa was confused. "But didn't the books say that all the members of the Hampden family died in the capital along with the annihilation of the previous dynasty?"
Historeiz was a country with bloody war history. At the later stage of the previous dynasty, it was very weak and susceptible to the invasion of foreign countries, which was the reason for the demise of the previous dynasty. According to history, all members of the royal family were killed.
After the demise of the previous dynasty, the warlords of the country were engaged in a chaotic battle for more than half of the century. The entire country was divided into many factions.
Later, a hero was born. He led his brothers to end this chaotic battle and built a prosperous and stable country.
Now thinking about it, although it was only a few decades since Historeiz was founded, it was in a chaotic state for half a century in between, so it had been more than 100 years since the demise of the previous dynasty.
Anderson explained, What is written in the history books might not be true. In fact, a year before the demise of the previous dynasty, the ruler of that dynasty had already felt that the empire was on the verge of collapsing."
They had thought of a way to reverse the situation, but it was too late and there was nothing much they could do to save it. So they had sent a team to send the young king and a large number of national treasures away.
It was a secret operation, so almost no one knew about it. Not long after, the ruler announced the sudden death of the young king.
Later, when the clashes between the warlords of the country broke out, there was a rumor saying that the young king at that time did not die, but fled abroad. But there were many similar rumors in that era, so no one paid attention to them at all. That's why they are able to preserve their royal bloodline."
After listening to his words, Clarissa was beyond shocked.
Clarissa felt like her worldview had fallen apart.
"Then where did those people flee to at that time?"
"I don't know." Anderson shook his head. "But in that case, it's only natural that they fled to the safest place. Some people speculated that they fled to the west through the Billuha Triangle at that time, but it was not confirmed. Anyway, these people survived and established the Sapphire Family. Now the Sapphire Family is on the same level as the three major families of the world in respect of their economic position. No one dares to look down on them anymore."
Clarissa curled her lip in dissatisfaction. "The country was in danger, yet they fled with a lot of gold and silver. So what if they rise up now? To put it bluntly, if those money were used to fund a resistance war at that time, maybe it would not have fallen so easily."
Marty couldn't help interrupting. "You're wrong. In that situation, all their money would be wasted. Instead of getting themselves into a life-and-death struggle, it's better to keep themselves alive first. As the saying goes, it's better to survive than to die. Anderson, am I right?"
Anderson didn't say anything, but Clarissa rolled her eyes at Marty in disdain.
"Marty, if the country is truly in danger, you'll definitely be the first to be a traitor."
Marty was at a loss of words, somewhat unreconciled.
"What are you talking about? Why am I a traitor? Don't you know how much GDP I have contributed for our country..."
Clarissa smiled and said, "On women? I bet the GDP's contribution by your family is made through the sole effort of your eldest brother. As for you, you must have spent all your money on women!"
Marty was so angry that his face turned red. He pointed at Clarissa, but couldn't refute her words.
In the end, he could only snort and said, "I don't bother arguing with women."
Clarissa made a face at him.
Marty gritted his teeth and said, "Anderson, I'm so angry with her."
Anderson's lips were curled up into a smile as he patted Clarissa's head with his hand. He gently caressed her head and said in a low voice, "Well done."
Marty was speechless.
Marty was screaming inside. Why did he ask Anderson and Clarissa to come here today?
Was he out of his mind? Why was he torturing himself?
Clarissa stopped teasing him anymore when he saw that he was really angry. They then shifted their focus on waiting for the auction to start.
That was because there were many famous international celebrities who came to participate, they were all seated according to their status in the hall.
Clarissa and the others were in the second row. After everyone was seated, the auction began.
Rare treasures were being displayed one after another. There were cultural relics, antiques, and all types of precious jewelry.
Clarissa couldn't take her eyes off those things, and the bidding price of those things was naturally sky-high.
However, those items were originally priceless. It was said that the reason why the auction was held every four years was that most of the treasures were taken from the Palace of Ascijan.
Although the Hampden family was history now, the Sapphire family still felt nostalgic for Ascijan. Therefore, they held an auction in Ascijan every year.
Clarissa was in a trance. Marty suddenly came over and said, "Clarissa, there will be some private collection to be auctioned later. If you like any of them, you can ask Anderson to bid them for you."
