Chapter 665 Being Considerate
It didn't take long for a well-seasoned, and delicious dish to be served.
Looking at the food in front of her, she asked Clint, "What about yours?"
With a bland look on his face, Clint replied, "I've eaten."
As he was speaking, he sat down in front of her, then picked up a book to read.
Seeing that, she did not force it and began eating.
After finishing the meal, Clint got up and cleaned up the cutlery. Then, he said goodbye to the employees in the store before leaving with her.
As they walked on the road, the woman's beauty and her unique temperament naturally attracted a lot of attention.
Obviously, she felt a little uncomfortable to be looked at, so she gently pulled the corner of Clint's shirt and whispered. "Clint, they..."
With an impassive expression, he glanced at the people who were looking over and said coldly, "What are you looking at? If you look again, I'll dig out your eyeballs.
Most people who could afford to come here were either really wealthy or an aristocrat.
An ordinary person might not be able to come here even if they had the money.
Therefore, when the words came out of Clint's mouth, some people were immediately unhappy.
"Who's looking at you? Are you made of gold? Don't be all self-sentimental? This beautiful lady didn't even say anything, yet here you are, trying to steal the light..."
Before the other party could finish his words, Clint's expression turned completely cold.
He was about to step forward and argue with them, but the woman gently stopped him.
Frowning slightly, she was not willing to argue with others in public, so she pulled Clint and whispered. "Forget it."
After that, she looked at the middle-aged man in front of her and smiled considerably.
"Sir, my friend was just protecting me. If he offended you in any way, please forgive him!"
In truth, the middle-aged man was not unreasonable. He just didn't like his overbearing temperament.
But, as he heard the woman's words, he smiled.
As he laughed, he then said, "It's alright. Since you have spoken, I won't take it seriously. May I know what's your name? Why haven't I seen you before?"
Hearing that, Clint interrupted coldly, "There are so many women in the world, have you seen all of them?"
As soon as his words came out, the middle-age man choked a little.
Seeing that his face was turning grim again, the woman quickly pulled Clint to her back. Then, she smiled gently at the man. "I wasn't here before. I just came back from abroad, so of course, you couldn't have met me. My name is Sue Abel. Nice to meet you."
After knowing her name, the man smiled happily.
"Sue, this name sounds nice. Miss Su, my name is Sandrew Calder, and I am the general manager of Calder Group. This is my business card. Nice to meet you."
With that, he took out his business card and handed it to her.
Seeing that, Sue didn't refuse it either. After receiving it, she looked at it carefully before putting it away in her bag.
"I still have something to do, so I shouldn't disturb you anymore."
Hearing that, Sandrew smiled and said, "Don't worry. You're not disturbing me. By the way, I'm staying in the room at Yankees. If you have time, you can come to visit. Since we bumped into each other by fate, we can also be friends."
While Sue nodded, she didn't mention she would or would not go.
As a clever person himself, Sandrew did not say anything further after receiving her response.
Then the two waved goodbye.
Watching the man left, Clint let out a cold snort and said, "He's up to no good!"
Looking at him, Sue let out a sigh.
"I'm sorry, Clint. It's all my fault to get you in trouble."
The moment the words came out of her mouth, Clint frowned.
With a sullen face, he said in a low voice, "What are you talking about? There's is no such thing as troubling each other between us."
Smiling faintly, she walked forward, and said, "For the past few years, you have stayed by my side and didn't go anywhere else. You took care of me and protected me. If it weren't for you, I would be dead twenty years ago. How would I have been able to survive until now?"
As she spoke, she noticed a small flower by the roadside. She stopped and reached out to touch the petal gently.
She was gazing at the beautiful flower, but somehow it seemed that she was not looking at it at all. Instead, she seemed to be looking into the distance blankly.
"Sometimes, I wonder if you didn't save me back then, and if I didn't survive, would you have lived a happier and more relaxed life over the past twenty years or so?"
Suddenly, Clint's expression darkened.
Stepping forward, he took Sue's hand and said sternly, "So that's what you think deep down? Are you blaming me for saving you back then? Or are you still thinking about Buckly? Hasn't he hurt you enough? It's been so long, and why are you still on his side?"
Startled, Sue looked at the man in front of her who was in a towering rage and appeared to be slightly confused.
Then, she whispered, "Clint, I didn't mean that. I just..."
"That's enough!"
Suddenly, he shouted angrily and looked at Sue with disappointment. "Don't lie to me anymore. Do you think that I don't know? Earlier, in the peach forest, you met a young couple, and that man looked very similar to him, right?"
"Was it because of him that you thought of Buckly? So your feelings are not stable because you haven't let him go at all!"
Hearing that, Sue pursed her lips together as she fell silent.
She did not answer yes nor did she deny.
At the moment, Clint was still holding her hand, and a red mark had appeared on her fair skin.
When Clint looked at her, his anger was rising massively.
It wasn't until he caught a glimpse of the red marks he had left on her wrist that he suddenly came to his senses and jumped.
His expression changed, and immediately let go of her hand.
"Your hand..."
"I'm fine."
Abruptly, Sue withdrew her hand in a lightning speed.
She was wearing a windbreaker made of chiffon, and the sleeves were very long. After she retracted her hand, he couldn't see the red mark anymore.
However, her expression was rather indifferent. She did not look at him, and her gaze was loosely focused in a distance.
At the moment, she wasn't sure if it was because she didn't want to see him, or if she was trying to avoid something else.
Then, she said softly, "Clint, thank you for sending me back to Sapleusia. As for what you just said, it's non-existent. You're thinking too much."
As she spoke, suddenly she lowered her head and coughed.
After hearing her cough, Clint suddenly felt his heart tightened and was overwhelmed with endless regret.
He shouldn't burst in anger.
In the past few years, he thought that he had trained himself well enough.
As long as he could stay by her side, he was willing to tuck away his aggressiveness and bad temper, and wouldn't lash it out again.
