Chapter 352 I Was Wronged

"Miss Lara, please save me! I was wronged! Miss Lara, please save me!"
At this critical moment, Maggie rushed to Lara, trying to ask her for help.
However, before she could get close to Lara, Maggie was dragged away from Lara.
Seeing this, Lara looked disconcerting, as if she couldn't bear to see Maggie being treated this way.
"Grandpa, maybe Maggie was not thinking straight at that moment, or..."
"Don't beg for mercy for her!"
Old Master Levine interrupted her words and said angrily, "There is no place for a person like her, who would be ruthless enough to lay a finger on a six years old child. Our family will never cover up for such a sinner!"
When Maggie heard this, she started to cry in despair.
Lara sighed.
She said softly, "I'm sorry, but I can't help you. You... You'd better pray for yourself."
As Lara spoke, she turned her head to the side.
Someone in the crowd said sarcastically, "What a vicious woman. Why did Miss Lara speak up for her? Miss Lara is too kind, and she even pleads for a scum like Maggie."
"That's right. How could she have the heart to do that to a kid? What's more, she is the daughter of the Jordan family. Is she trying to ruin the relationship between the two families? That's terrifying."
"It's not as simple as it seems. I don't think she is capable of doing something like this unless there's someone behind all these."
"How terrifying! How could a person be so evil?"
"Fortunately, she was caught. Otherwise, the thought of having somebody around you is beyond eerie."
"Miss Lara is so kind that she would even sympathize with a scum like that."
Hearing the discussion around her, Lara's lips curled up slightly.
Gabriela was watching what happened in front of her away from the crowd. Clenching her fist tightly, she could not wait to stand out against the crowd.
However, there was a tiny figure, who was faster than her, rushed to Maggie in a flash.
Old Madam Jordan was startled and cried out, "Anne, what are you doing?"
Anne ran to Maggie and stopped the two security guards who were dragging her out. Then she grabbed Maggie's hand and put it on her back.
Everyone was stunned and did not know what was going on. Even Maggie was shocked by her actions and did not know how to react.
Only Lara, who had been standing in the crowd, frowned.
Anne let go of Maggie's hand and turned to look at Old Master Levine.
"Old Master Levine, this young lady is not the one who pushed me down."
The audience burst into an uproar.
Old Master Levine frowned slightly and there was a hint of displeasure in his tone.
"Anne, do you know what you're talking about?"
Anne looked very serious and said clearly, "Yes, I know. I said, she is not the culprit who pushed me into the pool."
This time, everyone came to their senses.
"If it's not her, then who was it?"
"Didn't they find all the evidence? We have both testimony of the witness and material evidence. How could it not be her?"
"Yes. Besides, Miss Anne didn't see the culprit and it was not recorded by the surveillance camera as well. How could Miss Anne be so sure that she didn't do it?"
The crowd burst into a heated discussion again.
Old Master Jordan, suddenly spoke out.
"Alright, everyone, please calm down."
He looked at Anne gently and said softly, "Anne, please talk it over. How do you know that she's not the one who pushed you down?"
Anne turned around and held Maggie's hand again. She said seriously, "Because I remember the person's touch on my shoulder when I was pushed down, her hand is soft. Although she was strong, it feels more like a slender hand."
"But Maggie's hand is too big and too rough. When her hand was pressed on the shoulder, her touch felt bony and uncomfortable at all. So I don't think she is the person who pushed me down before."
As soon as Anne finished his words, the crowd burst into an uproar again.
Maggie stood there in a daze. After a moment, she finally came to her senses. She looked at Anne in disbelief.
Because she was a servant, Maggie often did a lot of house chores. Moreover, she came from the north. She was born with wider bones, so her palms were also a little bigger than the average girl's.
Besides, Maggie was thin. She didn't have much flesh on her hands. Due to her body frame size, at first glance of her hands, they didn't look like a woman's hands, but more like a man's, which were full of strength.
Therefore, Maggie's touch would not feel soft to the touch.
After listening to Anne's analysis, the few old men all frowned.
On the other hand, Maggie was so grateful that she almost knelt down before Anne.
"Miss Anne is right. I really didn't push her. And I'm just a servant. I hold no grudges against Miss Anne. Therefore, I have no reason to hurt her at all! That butterfly toy must have been deliberately planted in my room by someone to frame me!"
Maggie shouted with all her strength as Lara's expression changed.
Lara sighed and said softly, "But the facts showed that apart from you, no one else has a stronger motive and chance."
After a pause, Lara said, "Maggie, I know that you are very scared now. Although I don't know the reason you hurt Anne, you must have your own difficulties. Don't worry, as long as you are willing to tell the truth and admit your mistakes in time, grandpa will forgive you."
Maggie shook her head right away.
"No, it's really not me. Miss Lara, please believe me. I really didn't do anything to Miss Anne."
Lara's brow furrowed deeper as a flash of impatience flashed in her eyes.
"I'd like to believe you, but... Miss Anne is just a six-year-old child after all. She might perceive things wrongly. How can you prove that you're not the culprit?"
Maggie was stunned.
She didn't expect that Lara would say so.
Maggie shook her head as waves of despair and panic swept over her. She cried out, "I... I don't know."
Lara sighed helplessly.
It appeared that Maggie, who was in denial, had run out of excuses after being persuaded by Lara with kind words.
At this moment, Clarissa suddenly spoke.
"In fact, it's not difficult to find who is the real culprit."
Everyone looked at her with shock.
Clarissa was already holding the toy butterfly in her hand.
The pink butterfly fluttered on her slender fingertips, as if it were alive. Just by looking at it in this way, everyone could understand why Anne would chase after it under the dim light.
Old Master Levine frowned and asked patiently, "What do you mean?"
Clarissa raised her eyes slightly and said with a smile, "As Anne said just now, Maggie is not the one who pushed her into the water. This can be evidenced by the butterfly toy in my hand."
Everyone was stunned.
They didn't quite understand what Clarissa was implying.
Apart from the crown, even Old Master Jordan and Old Madam Jordan looked at her with a confused face.
Only Anderson's eyes darkened a little when he looked at the butterfly toy as realization hit him.
