Chapter 342 The Levine Family's Birthday Banquet

The next day, Old Master Levine suddenly announced the news that he was holding a birthday banquet for himself in advance.
Old Master Levine was seventy-six years old this year. At his age, it was a jubilant event to hold a birthday banquet every year.
What's more, he was seriously ill now. If he could hold a birthday party at this time, it could also have the effect of pushing bad luck away, so the Levine family naturally would not have anything against it.
When Clarissa received the news, it was already the afternoon of the next day.
Looking at the invitation card in front of her, she was actually surprised.
After all, Old Master Levine didn't look like someone who was superstitious.
What's more, he was the one who initiated it. Anyone who was sick knew that when one was feeling unwell, he would only want to stay by himself quietly. Few people would want to be disturbed.
However, since the invitations had been sent out, no matter what the reason was, she naturally had to attend the banquet.
The birthday banquet was held on Sunday night at the Levine family's old mansion.
Not many people had been invited to the birthday banquet. Most of the guests were from the four great families and a few other noble families in the Flaucford.
On this day, Clarissa arrived very early. Because it was the weekend, Anne didn't need to go to school, so she brought Anne along.
Anderson had some matters to attend at work, so he would only arrive a little later.
On the other hand, it was Old Master Jordan and Old Madam Jordan who had followed closely behind her.
After all, they had been friends for decades. Old Master Jordan was not in good health and he rarely went out. Usually, if there was something on, he would send Anderson here.
Nonetheless, Old Master Jordan attended the banquet in person as it was a birthday banquet.
The Levine family's old mansion was buzzing. There were countless people coming to send gifts and to congratulate.
Clarissa brought Anne to greet Old Master Levine first before she entered the dining hall to wait for Old Master Jordan's and Old Madam Jordan's arrival.
However, Natalia and Aidan arrived before them.
After the previous incident, Natalia and Aidan had held an engagement ceremony after both of their families approved of them.
Right now, they were waiting for their wedding ceremony to be held at the end of the year.
Clarissa was very happy for them and chatted with them for a while.
Aidan smiled and said, "When I came in, I met Anderson and Uncle Jordan at the door. There are many people outside and they are busy entertaining them. I suppose they will only be here after a while."
Clarissa nodded. She knew that there would naturally have many people who had come to curry favor with them as soon as they found out Anderson and Old Master Jordan were here.
Although the Jordan Family did not bother to associate with these people, after all, in the business world, they still had to socialize with them.
Therefore, it was likely that the busiest person tonight wasn't Old Master Levine, but the patriarchs of the four great families.
Clarissa looked at Natalia and asked with a smile, "When are you getting married?"
Natalia said softly, "The end of the year. I'm too busy with my work at the research institution. We can't find time yet for the time being. We have already discussed it. As soon as the current research project is over, we'll hold the wedding at the end of this year."
Clarissa smiled and said, "Then I'll congratulate you in advance."
A shy and sweet smile appeared on Natalia's face.
Aidan looked in the direction of the entrance and suddenly leaned forward. He whispered, "I heard that Old Master Levine held his birthday banquet in advance not only for the sake of celebrating his birthday, but also to get things straight for Lara."
Clarissa was stunned.
"To get things straight for her? What do you mean by that?"
Aidan explained, "Since Vivian's child went missing, it caused a great sensation in the Flaucford. Vivian thought of many ways to find her child, but to no avail. As time goes by, they stopped looking for her somehow."
"Even so, there were still many people who knew about the missing child. Although Lara is the rightful daughter of the Levine family, very few people knew about her. Besides, she is not being held in high regard in the family."
"Old Master Levine probably felt that he didn't have much time left, so he wanted to take this opportunity to make her identity known to the public. In this way, in the future, everyone in the Flaucford would know that she is Vivian's daughter. If anyone in the Levine family bullied or mistreated her in the future, they would inevitably be criticized."
"Therefore, even if it is not for her, for the sake of their reputation, they would treat her nicely."
Upon hearing this, Clarissa was a little stunned.
She thought about it carefully and found that what Aidan said might be true. If he did not mention it, she would not have thought of it.
Thinking of this, she could not help frowning as a trace of worry flashed across her eyes.
Old Master Levine got everything planned for Lara. If he found out that Lara wasn't his granddaughter at all and was just a fake, how would he feel?
On the other side, Natalie appeared to be in a dilemma too.
Natalia stared at Clarissa with a complicated look on her face.
"Clarissa, you... You know Lara is not the real granddaughter of the Levine family, aren't you?"
Clarissa was stunned. She came to her senses. and looked around quickly to make sure that no one else could hear her. Then she nodded her head.
"I know Lara's background better than anyone else. But since this matter would involve the internal affairs of the Levine family, we are in no position to intervene as we're outsiders. Besides, even if the truth is revealed, it's still unknown how Old Master Levine would take it, so it's better not to say anything.
Natalia nodded.
She looked down slightly as her gaze fell on Clarissa's neck.
Natalia could see that she was wearing a diamond necklace today and she did not wear the necklace she always had worn.
Natalia's face suddenly changed.
"Clarissa, where's your necklace?"
Clarissa was stunned. She lowered her head to look at her neck before looking at her puzzledly.
"Necklace? What necklace? This one? Haven't I been wearing it all the time?"
As Clarissa spoke, she even lifted up the necklace around her neck to show Natalia.
Natalia got anxious.
"I'm not referring to this one. I'm referring to the one you were wearing earlier. It's a ruby necklace with a simple design."
Clarissa finally understood what she was saying and said, "Oh, that one, I've left it at home. Today, I'm not..."
She paused all of a sudden.
And she looked at Natalia in shock.
Natalia seemed to have realized something as well. Her expression changed as a hint of guilt flashed across her eyes.
Clarissa's face suddenly fell.
Aidan did not notice the jewelry on Clarissa before, so he did not understand what they were talking about.
Sensing something was off, he took a glance at both of them and asked curiously, "What are you talking about? What's wrong?"
Natalia forced a smile. "It's... It's nothing."
However, Clarissa stared at her seriously. She kept a straight face on while her eyes were full of doubt and coldness.
"Natalia, how do you know that the necklace I used to wear on my neck is a ruby necklace?"
