Chapter 219 Reach An Agreement

Seeing her so calm, Lauren was so mad.
"Clarissa! It's not your first day to be in this circle, and we both know how terrible public opinion is. Since you want to be an actress, you can't ignore this."
"Let me tell you. Sometimes it's easy to control the public opinion, but once it is out of control, even Mr. Jordan may not be able to help you reverse the situation."
"There's no other way. Even if you're rich, you can't let them shut up! What about your future then? Should it be ruined by that b*tch like this? "
Clarissa smiled, feeling a little warm in heart.
"Lauren, thank you for caring about me so much. I know. Don't worry."
"You know nothing! Lara's fans are so happy now, but you don't want to take any actions. How can I not be worried?"
Clarissa thought for a while and said, "Actually, I don't have to be an actress. I like a stable life, and I don't like the wandering lifestyle of stars. You know me."
"You!"
Lauren was so angry that she suddenly didn't know what to say.
"Since you don't like being an actress, why do you act in the drama?"
Clarissa smiled.
"Well, it's because I like to do what Lara wants to do! You know what? As long as it is something she wants, I will definitely take it from her."
Lauren was speechless.
Why did she suddenly feel that Clarissa was a little different from the one she used to know?
Was she so evil?
She liked it!
After hearing Clarissa's words, Lauren finally felt a little relieved.
But she was still worried, "What are you going to do now? How about me clarifying the rumors for you? Those people may not believe you if you explain it. What's more, if Elliot speaks for Lara, your reputation will really be ruined."
"I have a place in the circle anyway, and I don't usually care about these things, so what I say will be more convincing, and I can help you."
Hearing what she said, Clarissa felt incredibly warm in heart, as if there was a heating pad on her chest.
She smiled, "There's no need. Don't worry. I have a solution."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I'm not lying to you, really."
Lauren heard her confident tone and knew that she was not a person who liked to boast, so she set her mind at ease.
After hanging up, Clarissa quickly received a call from Conner.
She looked at the caller ID flashing on the phone screen and sneered coldly.
"Hello, Uncle Duncan."
"Is that Clarissa? I'm sorry to disturb you so late. Are you asleep?"
Clarissa got up, walked to the window and looked at the night outside. Her face was indifferent, "No, what's the matter?"
Conner's tone sounded somewhat hesitant and embarrassed, "Well, I think that you have seen those rumors on the Internet, right?"
"Yeah." Clarissa said.
"This is really the fault of my family. I didn't expect Lara to say those words in front of the media. Elliot has done something bad to you. I apologize to you on his behalf."
Clarissa chuckled softly, "Uncle Duncan, you have apologized to me on his behalf a year ago, and I accepted your apology, so you don't have to say sorry again."
Conner laughed awkwardly.
"Yes! But now the rumor has influenced you a lot, and I know this. Don't worry. I will punish Elliot, the b*stard, and let him personally come to you to apologize to you..."
Clarissa interrupted him, "Uncle Duncan, if you have something to say, just say it directly! Don't beat about the bush."
Conner was stunned.
He felt a sense of embarrassment of being exposed.
But he had been in the business world for many years, and he would not bothered by this situation.
Soon, he said, "Since you said so, I will get to the point."
"Back then, I gave you three companies because I wanted you to forgive them. You are a credible person, and you have done a good job this year. Elliot and Lara are not sensible, and they offended you again and again, but I still hope that you can let them go this time. You can tell me whatever you want."
Clarissa sneered indifferently.
"In your heart, I really am a realistic and vain money!"
Conner was dumbfounded again.
He sighed.
"I don't think so. I just think that you are a smart girl. Smart children always know what kind of choice is the best for them."
"In the business world, both being defeated is not the best choice. Mutual benefit and win-win result are the conditions for stable development. Clarissa, I am unlucky to lose you as my daughter-in-law. Since I called you to beg you in person, please promise me! "
Clarissa was quiet for a few seconds on the phone.
Just when Conner thought she was going to refuse, Clarissa suddenly said very lightly, "Okay!"
He was startled.
Clarissa chuckled, "I promise you, but I want the 10% shares of Chapman Group which is owned by Lara."
Conner opened his eyes wide.
"Well... I'm not in charge of the Chapman Group."
"The Chapman family should be very happy to be related with the Duncan family by marriage! They are eager to flatter you and won't refuse your request. Besides, it's a good deal to exchange Lara's reputation with the 10% of the shares."
"Don't worry. As long as the shares are registered in my name, I promise that I will never mention the relationship between the three of us, and I will never ruin their marriage."
Conner fell into silence.
Clarissa was not in a hurry and stood there, slowly waiting.
After about half a minute, Conner finally said.
"Okay! I'll talk to them, but I can't guarantee that they will agree."
Clarissa smiled, "Thanks a lot, Uncle Duncan."
Hanging up the phone, Clarissa turned her head and looked at Nora, who was sitting on the sofa and glaring at her.
She raised her eyebrows, "It's so late. Why haven't you gone back to your room to sleep? What are you doing here?"
Nora said with dissatisfaction, "Clarissa, how can you make such a condition? Mr. Jordan can give you everything you want! As long as you want, he can even give you the whole Chapman Group, not to mention just 10% of the shares! Why do you have to wrong yourself and help them hide it?"
Clarissa burst into laughter.
Stepping forward, she squeezed Nora's face and said, "Fool, am I such a stupid person? Lara cares so much about her reputation. How could I be so silly to sacrifice myself and fulfill their wish?"
Nora's eyes widened.
"Then why did you say that just now..."
Clarissa sneered.
"Because they have never experienced the feeling of losing something. I just want them to experience how it feels like when their valuable things are taken away one by one!"
