Chapter 595 She Was Elated

Two days later, the doctor finally announced that Iris had survived the critical period.
This was the moment the surgery could be deemed an actual success!
Evelyn was extremely happy. Although her mother was still very weak, as long as she had a good rest, it was only a matter of time before she recovered.
Meanwhile, she had delayed filming for too long and they couldn't delay it any longer.
So, the next day after Iris had regained consciousness, Evelyn left the hospital and went back to the filming site.
On her day back, the production crew had lit some fireworks to celebrate the success of Iris's surgery. They even paused filming at night just so they could have a decent banquet to celebrate the event.
Evelyn was deeply moved. Seeing all the enthusiastic faces around her, her heart instantly melted as she felt hope revive in her heart once more.
That night, she had a lot to drink.
She was happy and she also let loose.
In the past few years, she had been trying hard to suppress a lot. Although part of the reason was Forbos, she was more worried about her mother's health this whole time.
But now, everything was alright. The surgery was a success and her mother's health would gradually recover with time.
Since she had finally relieved herself of such a great worry, she was naturally feeling very happy.
So, everyone ended up drinking till the wee hours of the next morning.
And because everyone had too much to drink, there was no worry about anyone sending the other back.
In order to take care of Evelyn, Carrie did not drink a sip that night.
After the banquet had ended, she came over to take her back to the hotel for some rest.
Just then, she saw Anthony stumbling over from a short distance away.
"Evelyn… Evelyn!"
Anthony had a lot to drink tonight as well. Despite Evelyn being the spotlight of the event, it seemed that he enjoyed it more than Evelyn herself.
For the entire night, he had drank with almost everyone there. If not for the fact that they knew what the event was for, they would think that Anthony was celebrating getting married or something.
However, because Anthony was normally very enthusiastic and playful, everyone just treated it as him being happy because of an event and nothing more.
But right now, when he saw Evelyn, he ran toward regardless of the obstruction of her assistant.
"Oh, you're still here I see! I thought you left a long time ago."
At that moment, Carrie was also a little surprised to see Anthony.
"You haven't gone home yet, Anthony?"
Blushing, Anthony waved at her.
He was obviously too drunk to stand still, yet he was still trying to pretend like he wasn't drunk.
"I… I was waiting for Evelyn, hehehe..."
As he said that, he stared intently at Evelyn, smiling creepily like a stalker.
"Congratulations, Evelyn! Congratulations to your mother for the success of her surgery."
Although Evelyn wasn't blackout drunk like last time, she was almost there right now.
She was so tipsy that she couldn't hear what Anthony was saying clearly.
All she could see was a blur outline of him and his mouth vaguely moving.
She could not help but frown as she stumbled toward him, asking, "What did you say?"
When Anthony saw this, he moved a little closer too and shouted in her ear, "I said, congratulations!"
This time, Evelyn finally heard him clearly.
With a giggle, she was almost leaning completely on Carrie as she put her hands together and said to him, "Thank you, Anthony."
Looking at her posture, Anthony stumbled over and helped her fix it.
"No, you're doing it wrong. Girls should bow this way."
This time, they were filming a vintage film in the royal family genre. In the film, the prince and princess's bodies exchanged as they try to figure out what was going on. So naturally, they had to follow a lot of customs and traditions in order to be true to the era of the story they were telling.
Upon hearing that, Evelyn shook his hand away.
"No! I didn't do it wrongly!"
She burped and said, "Don't you remember that I am actually the prince while you… you are the princess? So, you should be the one bowing like that instead!"
Even after hearing what she said, Anthony didn't object.
Instead, he really bowed that way and said, "Long live the prince."
Evelyn burst out laughing and waved her hand. "You are excused!"
Watching these two drunk people acting up a storm over here, Carrie and Anthony's assistant didn't know what to do as they just stood there awkwardly.
At that moment, both of them were speechless.
Considering their identities, some gossip might spread if someone were to get footage of them acting this way.
As she hurriedly came to help up Evelyn, she advised her, "It's getting late, Evelyn. We should go back and rest now."
With a smile, Evelyn said, "Okay, let's go."
As she spoke, she even turned and gestured toward Anthony.
"Why don't you kneel, princess?"
Just as Anthony was about to kneel down, his surprised assistant instantly stopped him.
Just then, the assistant looked at Evelyn awkwardly and said, "I shall leave with Anthony first then, Evelyn."
After she said that, she didn't allow Evelyn any time to respond before she dragged Anthony away from the scene.
Since Evelyn had no idea what that was about, she just kept complaining about it while she was being helped out by Carrie.
"Why did Gick run away as soon as he saw me, Carrie? Does he not like me?"
Almost breaking out in a cold sweat, Carrie thought to herself that she would do the same if she was in his shoes and saw what Evelyn was doing to Anthony.
However, at this time, she knew that Evelyn wasn't in the right state of mind so she didn't bother explaining to her.
Right when she helped her out of the restaurant, they saw a familiar figure standing in the distance.
"Mr… Mr. Blaine?"
Carrie said in surprise.
Hearing that address, Evelyn instinctively peeled her eyes open a little.
But before she took a clear look of the person, she could already feel an air of cold fragrance wafting toward her.
Right after that, she could feel her body peel off from Carrie's as she entered a strong-feeling and warm embrace.
"Leave her to me. You can go back!"
After being stunned by those words, Carrie didn't know what to do.
"But tomorrow, Evelyn..."
"I'll send her back tomorrow."
After Marty finished speaking, he didn't wait for her to respond as he immediately picked Evelyn up from the ground and left.
That left Carrie standing there, on the verge of crying.
She didn't know whether to go after them or not. In the end, she just prayed in her heart that Evelyn would be fine tonight and returned to the hotel.
Meanwhile, in the car on the other side.
In her confused state, Evelyn felt like she was in a very unfamiliar place.
Yet, behind her she was lying on a warm chest with a familiar scent that she she couldn't recall at the moment where she remembered it from.
"Oh... It's so uncomfortable."
Anyone who had had too much to drink before would probably know that feeling. The feeling of sitting in a car after being drunk. It was extremely uncomfortable.
As Marty watched her flushed face looking so uncomfortable, he couldn't help but frown as his gaze dimmed.
He gently stroked her back and said, "Hang on for a little longer, we're reaching soon."
Ten minutes later, the car stopped in front of a villa.
Carrying Evelyn out of the car in his arms, Marty walked to the door, put her down, entered the code to his house and went in together with her.
This villa was not that big, but its decoration were cozy. There were slippers for them both by the door as they came in and there were also flowers on the shelves on the way in. It felt homely.
