Chapter 759 Love-Hate Relationship

For a moment, Keira hesitated before she said, "Emmeline, if you don't go back with me, you won't have anywhere else to go! Your friends... are all dead, aren't they?"
Keira was right. Those good friends that Emmeline once thought either betrayed her or... died.
In fact, Jara was the one who personally killed them.
Until now, she would never forget the way her best friends stared at her before they died.
It was the look of being ruthlessly betrayed after completely trusted someone.
At that very moment, she finally knew that she was not only be regarded as a traitor by the Lost Vanguard. Even the people of the Salvation Club also thought that she had a special relationship with Jara and secretly helped him when both sides were battling.
Therefore, before her best friends died, they had questioned her.
"Why did you betray us? I thought we are besties."
Why was that so?
Oh, as if she knew the answer.
From the beginning to the end, she was just a piece of straw caught in the middle.
Being neutral, she did not help anyone and let the capabilities do the talking.
Therefore, she couldn't figure out who had leaked the confidential information of the two parties, which led to this dire situation.
However, there was one thing she could be sure of. When the Salvation Club lost, she begged Jara to let her friends go, but he didn't.
That time, his expression was so cruel that it had imprinted in her memory.
It was as if their past ten years had ceased to exist.
And as if the love between the two of them had vanished as well.
In just a day, she had turned from his best friend to a criminal he abhorred.
Then, he locked her up. During that time, he questioned her countless times if she stole the information.
She denied. To that, he got enraged because he believed that she was lying to him.
After all, all of the evidence was pointing towards her.
Besides, before this incident, the only person he trusted the most was her. Other than himself, she was the only one who knew where the information was and had access to the key to it.
Therefore, her denial seemed so powerless.
What's more, he had killed her friend.
So, she had every reason to take revenge.
After that, when all the evidence was placed in front of Emmeline, she was speechless.
Although she clearly knew that she was innocent, she was unable to defend herself.
So, she stayed silent, and in this way, it became a tacit admission in the eyes of others.
Since then, he never came to see her again.
When she was imprisoned there for half a year, the two of them were like two icebergs separated by the ocean, and they never met again.
That time, she had no idea what he was thinking, and she didn't know what he was going to do with her.
Was he going to kill her? Or was he going to punish her in other ways?
Regardless of being clueless, she didn't want to think about it.
Instead, she drifted through her everyday life like a walking corpse.
Until one day, a woman appeared in front of her.
That woman looked somewhat similar to Emmeline, but she was more gorgeous with a slim waist and a smile on her face. At first glance, anyone could tell that she was a sensible lady.
Standing in front of Emmeline, she looked down at Emmeline and exclaimed as if she had accidentally broken in here.
"Who are you? Why are you locked up here?!"
Shocked, she covered her mouth and took a step back in her beautiful dress.
At that moment, her blonde hair was illumined by the sun shone in from her back, resulting in the formation of dazzling halos.
On the other hand, Emmeline did not speak while staring at her coldly.
Then, Jara came in.
When he knew that the woman had barged in, he was a little cross. However, he had always been able to keep a straight face. Hence, except for putting on a dark face, he did not express much.
After stealing a glance at Emmeline, he quickly looked away and turned to that woman. Frowning in displeasure, he asked, "What are you doing here?"
Upon seeing Jara, that woman clutched her chest and leaned into his arms tenderly.
"I was bored, so I decided to get some fresh air, and somehow, I ended up here. I swear I didn't mean to break in. Who is she, Jara? Why does she look like this?"
Hearing that, Jara looked at Emmeline coldly.
As if he was staring at a stranger, there was no emotion in his deep eyes.
Then, with his thin lips, he blurted, "She's a sinner."
"Oh my god, a sinner?"
Surprised, that woman stared at Emmeline with her bright eyes wide open.
Immediately after, she suddenly thought of something, put on a shocked expression, and cried out involuntarily, "Is she..."
She didn't finish her words as if she was concerned about something.
However, everyone already knew what she was about to say.
Jara slightly frowned and didn't continue the conversation. Instead, he said, "Let's get out of here. There's nothing here."
After that, he turned around, put his arm across the woman's shoulder, and left with her.
When the woman left, she turned to look at Emmeline with eyes full of sympathy. Nevertheless, when Emmeline looked deep into her eyes, she could sense a hint of complacent and sarcasm.
At once, Emmeline felt that her frozen heart had been torn open.
And she called out to him.
That was the first time they talked in the past six months.
Even though Jara stopped, he didn't turn around.
"Who is she?" Emmeline asked.
As Jara was standing in front of the door, his tall figure had blocked out the light from outside, putting her in complete darkness.
It took him quite a while to respond.
With a cold voice, he replied, "None of your business."
None of your business...
The moment Emmeline heard what he said, her heart sank. Those four words were stabbing her heart mercilessly like a knife, and the pain was so overwhelming as if her heart was about to be torn apart.
Her face went blank, and she blanched. Only after a long time, she burst out into laughter.
"I see..." She nodded while she was still sitting cross-legged. Her bright eyes stood out from the filthy environment, like the bright luminous pearls in darkness.
"Alright, you may scram now!" she continued.
The moment Jara heard that, his body stiffened.
However, he did not turn back and strode out.
A few hours later, someone reported to him that something had happened at the prison.
Upon hearing that, he ran out of his room and saw the blazing fire at Emmeline's prison.
At once, terror crossed his face. Despite being obstructed by the people around him, he rushed to the prison.
However, he didn't expect to see such a scene.
That night was the most unforgettable moment in Emmeline's life.
She broke through the guards and escaped.
