Chapter 1040 Snowing in the Desert

Bending over, Clarissa held up a handful of snow. She smiled and said, "This is the first time I've seen snow in the desert. I'd like to see if there's anything different from what we've seen from home."
Seeing that, Anderson pulled her up and brushed away the snow in her hand, then said with a serious expression, "Don't mess around. Be careful not to get frost bite."
Clarissa felt that he was too controlling now.
She was allowed to touch this and that, which made her look like a doll that would shatter once touched.
Therefore, she couldn't help but laugh and replied, "I'm fine, don't get too anxious."
As she spoke, she stretched out her hand to catch a few more snowflakes.
The snow melted upon contact with the skin. As a sense of coolness crept into her fingertips, she thought it was fun.
When Anderson saw that, he felt helpless.
There was nothing he could do about it. In the end, he could only let her go.
After Clarissa played with the snow for a while, Anne also ran out.
Today, she was wrapped in a small scarf, and with her white winter jacket, she looked like a white fluffy ball. Although she still had a baby face, it could be seen from her delicate eyebrows that she was a beauty.
Like Clarissa, she held up a handful of snow and played with it happily.
Nearby, the servants were slightly nervous when they saw them coming out.
They were afraid that they would be scolded if they were seen playing outside.
However, not only they were not scolded, the family even played along with them, so they smiled irresistibly.
Because Clarissa was still pregnant and Anderson was by her side, he wouldn't allow her to play for too long.
So, after a few minutes, he dragged her into the house.
Of course, Anne was also being dragged back into the house.
Back in the house, the temperature suddenly rose. After they sat down on the sofa, Anderson put her small hands in his palms and rubbed them. Only then did her cold hands warm up a little.
When Anne saw this, she also moved over and stuffed her hands into Anderson's chest.
"Daddy, I want it too."
Feeling helpless, Anderson could only let her put her ice-cold hand in his arms.
With a smile, Sierra uttered. "There isn't much to see in the snow. On the other hand, there's a mountain here. It's usually windy and desolate over there. No one goes there. If you're in the mood, we can go take a look together after lunch."
When Clarissa heard this, her eyes lit up. She immediately nodded and replied, "Okay, okay."
So, after they finished lunch, they went out by car.
When they arrived at the foot of the mountain, they found that it was snowing heavily here, and even blocked the road up the mountain.
Since the road was blocked, naturally they couldn't go up the mountain.
The group of people had no choice but to turn back.
On their way back, Clarissa suddenly remembered that she hadn't bought anything since she came out this time.
Since they were out for a long time, they were probably going back in a few days. Therefore, instead of allocating another day for it, they might as well buy the gifts today.
In the meantime, Anderson didn't have any objections, so the group of people didn't go back home right away. Instead, they went to the shopping mall.
After entering the shopping mall, Clarissa finally managed to hold back the urge to buy things. Instead, she chose a few souvenirs that were convenient for her to bring home.
It was not that she was unwilling to spend money. However, it was because she was here to buy gifts for the family. Since Matteo did not follow them on this trip, she had to bring something back.
If they bought too much and left some here, Sierra and Robert wouldn't need it, and it would be troublesome to take it with them. Wouldn't that be a waste?
Although the Jordan Family was rich, they had always have a good family practice.
In order to educate children, Clarissa had always wanted them to be thrifty, and they shouldn't waste money just because they were wealthy.
Fortunately, Anne and Marf were both very sensible children and they grew up in a loving environment. Therefore, they did a good job in this aspect.
After they finished buying the souvenirs, it was still early, so they were not in a hurry to go back. Instead, they found a good place to look at the snow and the scenery while drinking afternoon tea.
While they were having tea, Robert suddenly received a phone call.
They had no idea who was on the phone, but after Robert talked on the phone, his face changed.
After hanging up, he said to Sierra, "Something happened at the laboratory. I need to make a trip there."
Sierra had always been a considerate person. Upon learning the news, she asked with concern, "Is it a very serious matter? Is it troublesome?"
"It's not clear yet."
As Robert spoke, he stood up and looked at Clarissa and Anderson.
"Please continue to enjoy yourselves. I have something to do, so I'll be going first."
Upon hearing that, Clarissa nodded. Sierra added worriedly, "Just be careful on your way back. Remember to come back early for dinner tonight."
"Got it."
After finishing his words, he left.
Clarissa looked as he left and asked, "Mom, what are Mr. Lane researching in his lab?"
In response, Sierra smiled. "I don't know the specifics, but it's pathology, viruses, and so on."
With that, Clarissa nodded.
"I used to hear that there is a doctor with superb medical skills. In this world, there is no disease that he can't cure. At that time, I thought that it was a shame for such a person to live in seclusion, and it was impossible to find him. Now I know that the person is Mr. Lane, I have to say that fate is indeed mysterious."
With a sigh, Sierra replied, "That's right. In fact, I'm also very grateful to have met him. If it wasn't for him, I might have died ten years ago."
They chatted with each other leisurely while having afternoon tea.
It wasn't until 6 o'clock that they left the teahouse.
On their way out, Sierra suddenly received a call from Robert.
On the phone, Robert's tone sounded a little excited.
"Sierra, is Clarissa and Anderson still with you?"
At the moment, Sierra was taken aback. Turning to look at Clarissa and Anderson, she asked, "Yes, what's wrong?"
"Tell them to wait for me at home. I will come back soon. I have good news to tell them."
After finishing the sentence, he hung up the phone.
Because they were standing close to each other, Clarissa had already heard what was going on on this end of the phone when Sierra was speaking.
Therefore, at this moment, she raised her eyebrows and asked, "Mr. Lane wants to see us?"
Sierra nodded. In fact, she was also baffled.
"He didn't make it clear what was the matter on the phone, but from his tone, it seems to be a good thing."
Clarissa smiled and said, "Since it's a good thing, let's go back quickly. Maybe some good news is waiting for us."
Sierra nodded.
As a result, they got in the car and headed home.
When she returned to the castle, she found that Robert was already home.
When they entered the door, they saw a middle-aged man sitting on the sofa in the living room.
