Chapter 339 There's No Need To Threaten Me
Clarissa pursed her lips and thought for a moment, then agreed to her.
"Alright, get in."
Gabriela parked her car at the back before sitting in the front passenger seat of Clarissa's car.
Clarissa felt a little embarrassed. After all, this was the second time that she ran into Gabriela and Aaron being together.
As the saying goes, once the accident, twice the coincidence, third the pattern. Not to mention Gabriela, even Clarissa herself could not believe that there would be such a coincidence when they ran into each other twice in a row.
"Miss Levine, what do you want to talk to me about?"
Although Clarissa knew it in her heart, she still asked.
Gabriela didn't look at her. She looked at the front coldly and said in a low voice, "Did you hear everything we said just now?"
"Cough!"
Clarissa coughed awkwardly and explained in a hurry, "I didn't mean to. Really, I just came down to get the car and was about to leave. Who would have thought that you guys would be here?"
Gabriela turned to look at her with a hint of mocking in her eyes.
"So, you did hear all of them?"
Clarissa was speechless.
Gabrielle's attitude irritated Clarissa. She said in a low voice, "Okay, I admit. I heard everything, but you don't have to worry. Your business has nothing to do with me, so I won't tell anyone."
Gabriela frowned slightly. After a moment, she said coldly, "That would be the best."
Clarissa felt a little helpless.
Gabriela added, "Actually, I don't have anything to do with him but he kept pestering me. Clarissa, you are also a woman. You should understand my feelings. I don't like him at all, and I don't want to give birth to this child. So I didn't want anyone to find out about us."
Clarissa faked a smile by tugging the corner of her mouth.
"Since you don't like him, why do you still have to come together?"
Gabriela was stunned.
Her expression changed slightly, but she did not explain.
She took a deep breath before at Clarissa seriously. "As long as you can keep this secret for me, I will owe you a favor. If there is anything you need help with in the future, just tell me. However, if you... you understand what I mean."
Clarissa smiled.
"You don't have to threaten me. After all, you can't threaten me."
Gabriela was speechless.
Clarissa put one hand on the car window and looked at her with a half-smile.
"The reason why I keep it a secret for you is that you have nothing to do with me, and I am not interested in gossiping about your affair with others. That's all. As for other things, forgive me for being blunt. Miss Levine, you really think too much."
Gabriela's face suddenly turned solemn.
She didn't like how cool Clarissa was about everything. Gabriela felt like she was being patronized by her when she did that.
She was the daughter of the Levine family, but Clarissa was just a nouveau riche coming from a small town. Clarissa was what she had become today only because of Anderson. How could Clarissa speak to her in such a manner?
However, Gabriela had learned her manners well.
No matter how unconvinced Gabriela was in her heart, she did not show it to her at all.
Instead, Gabriela nodded solemnly.
"Well, since you say so, I am relieved. In any case, I will accept this favor and return it to you in the future."
Clarissa smiled and didn't make any further comment to that.
Since everything had been made clear, of course, Gabriela did not stay in the car any longer. She opened the door and got out of the car.
"Goodbye, Miss Chapman."
Clarissa waved at her.
After Gabriela left, she started the car's engine and continued to drive forward.
It was already nine o'clock in the evening when Clarissa got home.
Anne was about to fall asleep. When she heard the sound of footsteps, she rushed out of the room immediately.
"Mommy! You're finally back."
Clarissa looked at Anne who was so sleepy that she could barely lift her eyelids. Her heart ached so much that she quickly took a few steps forward and picked her up.
"Sorry, I'm late. Don't you feel sleepy, Anne?"
Anne yawned and shook her head quickly. "I'm not sleepy at all. I have been waiting for you, mommy."
Clarissa kissed her cheek, took her back to the room and put her on the bed.
"Okay, I will read the picture book with you now. Let's read a chapter and then go to bed, okay?"
Anne agreed obediently.
It didn't take a long time to finish a chapter.
Clarissa coaxed the child to sleep. When she came out of the room, she didn't find Anderson. So she asked Pattie, who had just returned from the backyard. "Pattie, where is Anderson? Why hasn't he come home yet?"
There were a few traces of worries on Pattie's face. When she heard Clarissa's words, she sighed and said, "Sir came back once at seven o'clock. Later, he hurried out after answering a phone call."
Clarissa was stunned.
"What's going on?"
Pattie shook her head.
"I don't know the details. It seems that Old Master Levine is dying. Old Master Jordan had given Sir a call and asked him to go with him."
Clarissa's heart skipped a beat.
Although Old Master Levine had always been in poor health, Clarissa hadn't heard of any signs of his health deteriorating recently.
Why so sudden?
Although the relationship between the four great families was complicated now, Old Master Levine and Old Master Jordan had been friends for decades.
The conflict of interests between families was one thing, but the private relationship between the two old men was another. Therefore, if Old Master Levine was on his deathbed, it was only reasonable if Old Master Jordan wanted to take Anderson to make a visit.
Clarissa thought for a moment and said, "I know. If there's nothing else, you can go back to rest early."
Pattie nodded and left.
After Clarissa returned to her room and showered, it didn't take long before Anderson returned.
In the early spring, the weather in the north of the Flaucford was sometimes warm and sometimes cold. But tonight, it was loaded with cold night air.
When Clarissa heard the noise of the car's engine, she knew that Anderson was back. She hurried out and went downstairs. From a distance, she felt that a chill was brought in by the man, which made her couldn't help but shiver.
Anderson paused for a moment before turning around to close the door. When he looked at the thin pyjamas she was wearing, Anderson frowned.
"Why are you wearing so little?"
Clarissa held her arms to rub them. As she went over to remove his coat, she said, "I'm home anyway. There's no need to wear too much. How is it? Is Old Master Levine okay?"
At the mention of this, Anderson's expression darkened a little.
"They managed to save him, but from the looks of it, he doesn't seem to have much time left."
Clarissa was a little surprised. There should not be a problem for the Levine family to hire the best medical team in the world. If they said that he couldn't make it, then it had to be true.
Although she wasn't close with Old Master Levine and didn't have much feelings for the Levine family, she still felt a bit upset when she heard the news.
However, that did not last long. She quickly recovered from sorrow and said, "There is hot soup in the kitchen. Pattie specially made soup for you. I'll get it for you."
Anderson nodded.
