Chapter 684 Not As Simple As It Seemed

Now that Buckley had awoken, it was more appropriate for him to deal with these things personally.
Buckley remained silent after finished reading the documents.
Despite being the chairman of the Blaine Group and the head of the family, most of the company's affairs had been handled by Roland over the years.
As for the family's internal affairs, Buckley would still seek Nile's instructions to show his respect, even though Nile lived in another state.
As a result, it was illogical for someone to harm him in exchange for benefits.
When Roland saw this, he had no choice but to send more people to investigate.
Before that, he had transferred Buckley to St. Peter Hospital and hired professional bodyguards to look after him.
Although the Blaine family didn't make it public, the accident happened in Flaucford. Besides, it happened in the daytime. Hence, the news had reached a large number of well-informed people.
The Jordan and Levine families, as well as the Hollands, were no exception.
The three families had all sent representatives to pay a visit. Buckley could say no to others, but he couldn't say no to these people.
So, they arranged for a visit.
The Hollands and the Blaines didn't get on well in the first place, so the Hollands' sending their representatives to visit was merely a formality.
Perhaps they also wanted to inquire about the news and see if Buckley was fine, as they claimed.
After that, they went back.
However, the Levine Family and Jordan Family were different.
The two families got along well because Anderson and Marty were close. Also, because of Nile's siblings' marriage, the Levine family was related to the Blaines. Despite the huge generation gap, the relatives' relationship remained intact. As a result, they would be more concerned about Buckley.
With concern in his eyes, Gimmy sat in the ward and looked at Buckley, who was lying on the bed.
"Buckley, I don't think the accident was unintentional. Are you sure you can't find out the cause?"
Buckley shook his head.
"I've investigated it. According to reports, the driver drank alcohol in the morning and then lost control of his car, crashing into my car. It's the same from both the surveillance system and his personal investigation. I didn't find any other clues."
Gimmy frowned slightly.
"Who would drink in the morning? Isn't it strange?"
Buckley uttered with a smile, "Maybe it's his personal habit? Who knows? Well, I'm lucky to still be alive. I am very content, so there's no need to investigate further."
Gimmy noticed Buckley wasn't willing to talk about it anymore, so he cleverly shut up.
After some time, the nurse brought in the food for Buckley's dinner.
Then, Gimmy greeted him and got up to leave.
When he went out, she met Anderson and Clarissa at the door.
"Uncle, you're here too!"
Clarissa greeted him with a friendly smile. After that, Gimmy grinned as he stretched out his hand to tease Marf in her arms, and replied, "Yes. I came to visit Buckley. By the way, you should go up later. He's eating now, so it may be inconvenient."
Clarissa nodded.
"Have you been busy recently? If you have time, you'd better come back to visit. Your aunt has been mentioning you," Gimmy suggested.
"I've been in Flaucford. You can bring aunt to my house if she really misses me! She can also help me in babysitting my children." Clarissa grinned.
Gimmy burst out laughing. "Alright, I'll tell her later."
It was getting late, and Gimmy had something to deal with, so the three of them only chatted for a while.
By the time Clarissa and Anderson arrived at the hospital ward, Buckley had already finished his meal.
Marty showed up as soon as he got off work to keep him company. However, he didn't meet them because he came in through the other door.
Seeing them enter, Marty stood up with a gentle smile. "Anderson, Clarissa, you're here."
Anderson nodded and handed him the item he was holding. Then, he brought Clarissa to the side of the bed.
"Uncle, how are you?"
Buckley gave a pleased smile and responded, "I'm fine. It's just that Charlotte makes such a big deal about it that you all come to see me. I'm sorry."
Upon hearing that, Anderson chuckled. "Your health is more important. It's convenient for us to come over anyway. Don't say sorry."
Clarissa echoed, "Yes. I heard that the accident was quite serious. We were all shocked when we learned it."
"Sorry to make you all worry."
After chatting for a while, they finally got to the point.
Anderson also questioned Buckley about the perpetrator, and Buckley repeated himself.
After seeing this, Anderson did not press the issue further.
He then said a few words to Marty before leaving.
He reminded Marty to pay more attention to Buckley's safety. The accident was clearly not as simple as it seemed.
The fact that Buckley stalled them proved that he knew who the perpetrator was. However, he refused to tell them.
The others wouldn't be able to intervene if he wasn't willing to say it. As a result, the Blaine family would need to handle this matter on their own.
Marty nodded after listening.
He had always thought highly of Anderson's words, so he immediately informed Roland.
Since Anderson was able to guess it, Roland could not have failed to do so.
Thus, even before Marty noticed it, Roland had arranged many bodyguards in the hospital. They'd be able to detect any suspicious people.
The atmosphere was tense, and Sue, on the other hand, was conflicted.
She had already told Charlotte what she needed to say, and she had also seen Buckley.
Logically, she should have no regrets by now.
However, for some inexplicable reason, she felt a tinge of unease in her heart.
She always felt as if she had forgotten something.
As a result, she sat in a daze all day, and no one knew what she was thinking.
Clint felt like a knife was piercing his heart as he looked at her.
One day, he finally couldn't help but wonder, "Sue, shall we leave this country? Let's return to Xushoyji."
Sue looked at him, her previously unfocused eyes finally focusing on him.
She shook her head and said, "I won't go back."
"Why not?"
Sue was thinking about it as well. That's right. Why?
Why didn't she want to leave this place even though she had done everything she needed to do?
Suddenly, an answer flashed through her mind.
Yes! That was the reason.
When she saw Clint, she softly begged, "Clint, can you take me to Charlotte again?"
Clint was stunned, and then his face suddenly darkened.
"Why are you still thinking about her?"
He appeared to be in disbelief, but he was actually angry that she did not fight with Charlotte.
"How much longer will you beg her? She doesn't give a damn about you. Can't you tell how much she hates you? The humiliation you suffered last time has already explained everything. Why are you still asking for it?"
Sue sat there dazed. She looked into Clint's eyes as if she were a lost and pitiful child.
