Chapter 711 Hopping Off From The Plane

Her eyesight was not playing tricks; what she suspected was correct.
Clearly, those two persons had been following them since they boarded the plane.
Clarissa's sixth sense was tingling as she surveyed the situation in front of her.
Instantly, she tensed up and was about to duck when she spied a man sneering and raising his gun.
Before she could duck, a black shadow suddenly flashed past her.
There was a "bang" and the man was knocked to the floor.
This was followed by Nora yelling, "Clarissa, get over here!"
Stunned, Clarissa rushed over.
Although they did not know why they were being waylaid, these two assailants were not well informed and presumed they were two ordinary young women.
So, they did not expect Nora to be such a skilled fighter.
Obviously, these two men were hired killers.
What really angered Clarissa was that ambushing them would put all the lives on board the plane at risk.
Both of them rushed to the door to parachute out. They saw a plane approaching and flew alongside.
A high-pitched amplified voice cracked through the air.
"Calling all passengers onboard the plane in front. We are here to save you. As long as you surrender these two people, we will ensure you will reach your destination safely in one piece. Otherwise, we won't be responsible for any eventualities."
Clarissa turned pale.
The other plane then unfurled two huge banners with blown-up faces of Clarissa and Nora.
The banners were easily visible to the passengers through the windows.
Someone shouted immediately, "I see them. They're over there."
As the woman shouted, she pointed to the door where Clarissa and Nora were.
Both of them panicked. They never expected the other party to be so vicious.
The passengers' lives were put at risk during the ambush, and now they turned the passengers against them.
There was no time to lose as the passengers rushed towards them.
Nora grabbed Clarissa's hand and whispered, "Jump!"
With that, Nora pushed her and jumped off the plane at the same time.
The sky shook with the sound of gunfire.
However, the air turbulence made the bullets difficult to find their marks.
The cold wind whipped Clarissa's face and felt like tearing her body apart.
She could only close her eyes tightly. Her brain was unable to function, let alone wonder where Nora was.
The parachute on her back opened with a "swoosh", but Clarissa could not control it nor focus her attention due to the strong air currents and lack of oxygen.
In the end, she felt that her head was being squeezed increasingly tight until the pain was like her head had exploded.
Everything went black and she passed out.
......
When Clarissa woke up, there were tiny spots of light all around her.
Slowly, she opened her eyes and found herself lying in a shabby little room.
The house was rudimentary and made from mud and stones. The sheets beneath her smelt damp and musty.
She struggled to sit up, only to feel like her body had been sliced apart.
Her eyes were blinking rapidly.
Where could this be?
Where was she?
There was a lot of noise outside of people talking happily. They spoke in the local dialect, so she did not quite understand them, but the joy in their voices was unmistakable.
A bright light appeared from outside, and soon she could make out some people coming in.
It was a middle-aged woman holding a torch leading several men and women. They were dressed in plain rustic clothes like villagers.
When the woman saw that Clarissa was half propped up, her eyes were wide open.
"Yoo-hoo" the woman greeted her happily and came forward. "Are you awake?"
Clarissa was still dazed.
She was unable to respond to the situation or to the unknown people in front of her.
The woman smiled and said, "You carried a big umbrella and fell into the nearby stream. I saw you when I went to wash some clothes in the morning. How do you feel now? Do you feel pain anywhere else?"
It hit Clarissa that they saved her.
Quickly, she sat up and thanked the woman. "Thank you for saving me. I'm fine now. By the way, have you seen my friend?"
The woman was surprised. "Friend? You have a friend with you?"
Clarissa nodded.
After a short pause, Clarissa continued pensively, "She's a woman about my age. She should be somewhere nearby. Have you seen her?"
The woman looked at her and shook her head.
Instinctively, she turned and faced the people behind and asked, "Have you seen this woman's friend?"
Everyone shook their heads in bewilderment.
Disappointed, Clarissa felt her heart sink. Just then, a thin teenager with a small mouth and cheeks like a monkey stepped forward.
He said, "Oh, I know. I came back from my Uncle Jasper's place today. They said that they also saved a young missy. Is that her?"
The woman could not believe her ears.
"No way. Your Uncle Jasper lives many miles away. This woman said that her friend should be nearby. How can her friend be at Uncle Jasper's place, which is so far away?"
Instantly, Clarissa's eyes lit up.
"Yes, it's possible. That should be her."
Of course, she was also not completely certain. Since both of them parachuted down without any sense of direction, it was not unusual to land miles apart.
In fact, it would be strange for them to land at the same spot.
The woman was somewhat unsettled when she heard this.
But in the end, she nodded. "Okay, maybe that's it. But don't worry, since your friend is rescued by Zane's uncle, she should be fine. Take a good rest now. When you are up and running, we'll go and look for your friend."
What a relief it was to Clarissa as she quickly expressed her gratitude and said, "I'll have to trouble you then."
The woman grinned happily, showing her somewhat yellowish teeth. "You're welcome."
Then, she turned to the people behind her and told them, "All right, all right. You've seen it all now. Everyone, please leave."
That group of people should be local villagers. They stared at Clarissa with a little more than just curiosity.
Perhaps it was night and the room was dim, so Clarissa did not notice.
After chasing away the group of curious onlookers, the woman turned around again and said with a smile, "Missy, are you hungry now? Can I get you something to eat?"
Clarissa did not feel hungry if she did not mention it. But now that she mentioned it, Clarissa felt famished.
