Chapter 334 Let's Start Over Again
Outside the room came the sound of servants pacing. Someone stopped at the door and whispered, "Miss Lauren, are you okay?"
Lauren's body stiffened all of a sudden.
Needless to say, she also knew that the servant must have heard the sound inside and came over to ask because she was worried about Lauren.
She glared at the man in front of her right away, indicating for him to let go of her hand.
However, Jameson pretended not to see it. He still put his hand around her waist, pinned her body against the door, and held her tightly.
Lauren had no choice but to respond. "I'm fine."
The servant was confused, but she did not ask any more questions. She turned around and left.
When the servant had left, Lauren glared at Jameson again and said coldly, "You should let me go now."
Jameson looked at her calmly, but he did not loosen his grip. Instead, he leaned forward slightly and got closer to her.
Lauren felt a sense of oppression, making her heart pounding. She couldn't help but flinched.
Jameson chuckled.
"Lauren, you're still into me."
Lauren shuddered in shock.
Jameson was certain about that. He reached out his hand and nipped her chin gently, forcing her to look up at him. His eyes were dark and deep. Although his eyes were not as cold as before, Lauren still could not read the emotions in them clearly.
"Do you know what I've been thinking for the past few years?"
Lauren was confused. She didn't say anything and just looked straight at him.
Jameson caressed her chin and murmured softly, "I always think, why did you leave me when you were head over heels for me that time? At that time, was what you said to me the truth? Were you just with me because you wanted to experience something new? Did you really think that a poor boy like me didn't deserve you who is the heiress of the Jones Group..."
His mind was flooded with memories from the past.
Five years ago, Lauren was still young and full of vigor. She fell in love with Jameson at the first sight. She liked his cold temperament and wild look that he had.
But at such a young age, even if she liked him, how could she easily say it out loud?
The more Lauren liked him, the more entangled and awkward she felt.
Lauren appeared to be nonchalant even though she loved him very much.
Especially since she was the eldest daughter of the Jones family.
Her friends surrounding her were all the younger generation of the rich and affluent in Visstead.
Even Clarissa, before what happened to Sierra, was the apple of the Chapman family's eye.
Comparisons were almost inevitable in their circle of friends. One day, someone asked if she was really seeing a poor boy and was mocking Lauren about it.
For some reason, Lauren blurted out, "I'm just playing with him. What's there to be surprised about?"
And they continued to provoke her by saying that she could only marry a peasant from the countryside and would be aged with the burden of housework for the rest of her life. Out of panic, Lauren said that she, as the heiress of the Jones Group, would not marry a peasant from the countryside. She was dating him just to experience something new. How could a peasant like Jameson deserve her?
But she never meant it that way.
She just wanted to say that the boy she was determined to be with, was not someone who was poor and from the countryside.
He had knowledge, courage and determination.
He was a hidden gem, the one who was incomparable with the vulgar, countryside gangsters.
Therefore, she had faith in Jameson that one day he would be capable enough to prove that he was worthy of her.
But she didn't have a chance to explain during that time.
Jameson stood at the end of the alley and heard all the words she had said arrogantly.
Lauren could never forget the cold and sinister look in his eyes until present.
It was as if she had pushed him a thousand miles away in an instant. They were so close to each other that they were only a few steps away, but at the same time, she felt like there was a huge gap between the two of them to which she could not reach him.
The next day, Jameson disappeared.
When it was less than a week away from the college entrance examination, he left quietly without even leaving her a word.
Lauren was angry and full of hatred at that time.
After all, she had been pampered for too long. Since she was a kid, everyone would cater to her every whim.
But just because of the few words he had heard, Jameson had left Lauren without saying goodbye. What was that about?
During that time, she was looking for him frantically and made dozens of calls to him. Lauren even secretly went to his hometown to look for him.
But her effort was in vain.
Later, Lauren heard from the people who had argued with her previously that someone had seen Jameson going abroad and he was seen with a woman.
She didn't believe that. So after finishing the exam, she followed him abroad despite Dexter being against it.
It was at a racing competition where Lauren had found him. He still had the same old cold look on him, but he was in high spirits. He drove the car fast and steady. As expected, he won first place.
He opened the door, got out of the car, and embraced a girl next to him.
There was a joyful and happy smile spread across his face, which was painful for Lauren to see.
"Look, how stupid I am!"
All the guilt, worries, yearning, emotional entanglement of young love that she had been experiencing all this while was just a trivial romance to others.
At the other end of the world, she had imagined how sad Jameson would be when he heard those words. However, in reality, he was high-spirited and had found himself a beautiful girlfriend. He had never even taken her words to heart and had never felt sad because of her.
In the end, Lauren did not make an appearance. She returned in disappointment.
As time went by, she buried her feelings towards Jameson deep inside her heart. She never showed it to anyone and no one knew about it since then.
Lauren's thoughts drifted far away. As she was reminiscing about the past, she travelled back in time. There was a moment where she stared into the eyes of the man in front of her, she had the impression that it was as if this was the first time she saw him.
Jameson kept on talking.
His voice was low and hoarse.
"I have given up on you before. I thought that time and distance would heal and change everything, including my love for you. In fact, I did it. Four years ago, I seemed to really have forgotten about you. I can fall in love with or even have sex with another woman."
"But why does your face always appear in my mind every time I get to the critical point? Tell me, what kind of magic you have in you? I couldn't even fall in love with any other women and feel sick whenever I get physical with them. For a period of time, I even doubted whether I was a normal person or not.
In fact, your reappearance proved that I am. Lauren, you know this. There is a voice from the bottom of my heart that turns down every woman that is out there for me, just because I couldn't move on from you. And it belongs to you. Now, do you still want it? Can we leave the past behind us and let's start over again?"
