Chapter 644 Forcing Him to Sign
However, Evelyn didn't ask Marty to go in with her. Instead, she asked Marty to stay outside and wait for her.
It was better for her to go in alone.
So Marty didn't insist either.
After all, Forbos was Evelyn's adopted father.
Even if she had no feelings for him, that was still her identity. Perhaps there was something she didn't want him to hear, so he respected her.
Two full weeks had passed since the day she was kidnapped.
When she saw Forbos again, Evelyn felt he looked a little unfamiliar.
If she wasn't sure that the person in front of her was not a fake, and if she didn't see it with her own eyes, she really couldn't believe that a person could have such a big change in such a short time.
The man in front of her eyes no longer looked like the Forbos she saw from two weeks ago.
Although Forbos looked shabby in the past, at least he still looked like a human being.
But now, Forbos, dressed in prison uniform, was extremely thin. His skin was a pale white without a trace of blood, faintly revealing an unhealthy shade of yellow as if he had a terminal illness.
He was so thin that both of his eye sockets had sunken deeply.
At first glance, she thought there was only a layer of skin over the skull. He was so thin that he had lost his facial features, and he looked extra terrifying.
He looked at Evelyn as if he was looking at the enemy who murdered his father.
Gritting her teeth, he said fiercely, "How dare you come! You b*tch."
While facing his insults, Evelyn didn't feel anything at all.
These years, too much abusive words had come out of his mouth and she was already numb to it.
Moreover, she never cared about what he said, so even when he scolded her, she felt nothing at all.
Coming straight to the point, Evelyn said, "I'm here today to ask for your signature."
While she was speaking, she took out a divorce agreement from her bag and placed it in front of him.
Looking at the agreement before his eyes, Forbos was silent for a while, and subsequently, he began giggling.
His laugh was extremely wicked.
Like bats who sucked blood in the dark, one would get the chills just by listening to it.
However, Evelyn was not afraid at all.
Most likely, she knew that the man who could protect her was just outside.
Therefore, somehow, she felt at ease, and her composure was extraordinarily calm.
As she sat there quietly, and elegantly, she looked like a beaming angel compared to Forbos's sinisterness.
Then, she said slowly and patiently, "Sign the agreement. This is what you owe to my mother and me. After signing it, we're even."
Hearing that, Forbos sneered.
"We're even? It's all because of you that I'm in jail and became like this. Now you are negotiating with me? Aren't you being too naive?"
Glancing at him, she was not in a hurry.
Then, she smiled faintly and said, "Because of me? Forbos, When you kidnapped me and tried to make profit out of me, have you thought about today?"
"In your eyes, I can only face defeat and surrender to you without any resistance? If that's what you think, then there's nothing I can do. I can only say that you're the one who brought this upon yourself. You can't blame anyone else."
Unexpectedly, Forbos didn't think that at this point, she still had the courage to speak to him that way.
Upon hearing that, he said with a wicked smile, "You're right. I'm the one who brought this upon myself. But there are times when you need to beg me for something, right? Ha! I know what you're thinking."
As he was speaking, his attitude became less aggressive surprisingly. Leaning back on the chair, he looked at her calmly, and said, "You don't want your mother to bear a blot in her life, right? You want me to divorce her, right? Sure, get me out of here and let me free. Then, I will immediately divorce her. What do you think?"
Hearing that, Evelyn frowned.
In fact, before she came here today, she had expected Forbos would make such a request.
After all, he was a scoundrel. If she hoped, that he could reflect on himself in prison and live a new life, she would be too naive!
Lowering her head slightly, and after a moment of thought, she said, "It's impossible to let you out. Not to say that I don't have the right, but even if I do, it's impossible."
After Forbos heard what she said, his face fell immediately.
"Then you still expect me to sign this divorce agreement?"
All of a sudden, Evelyn smiled slowly.
"It's impossible to let you out. After all, it's the law. You are a murderer now. Even the king would not be able to get you out, let alone me."
With a pause, she chuckled, then said, "But with some tricks, I might be able to relieve your sentenced to death."
Hearing that, Forbos frowned.
"What do you mean?"
Lifting her hand, Evelyn casually played with her newly made nails. Her voice was soft.
"Literally, that's what I mean."
Hearing that reply, Forbos snorted. "A life sentence? You're trying to bribe me with just this?"
Suddenly, Evelyn raised her eyebrows and saw the smile on his face. The smile was emotionless, and it looked as cold as ice.
"Forbos, you must have gotten used to being conceited for so many years! Who says I'm trying to bribe you? I'm clearly threatening you..."
Stunned, for a moment, he did not understand what she meant.
Suddenly, she reached out her hand, putting it to her mouth, and made a gesture.
Then, she chuckled. "You are addicted to this, right?"
Suddenly, Forbos's body shook violently.
But Evelyn blinked innocently instead.
"Don't ask me how I found out. I know much more than you think. Everybody knows that it's very painful to quit if you are addicted. The reason why you suddenly became thinner and in such a bad state during this period of time, should be that you are in prison, and you don't have this here, right?
In a soft voice, she continued to speak regardless of Forbos's change of complexion that was becoming increasingly poor.
Then, she continued, "According to your current situation, death is a relief. After all, even if you're alive, you won't have any good days without that thing. It's worse than death. Every time you get addicted to it, it's like there are thousands of tiny worms biting your body."
"So, you're not afraid to die at all, right? You are even looking forward to that day so that you can really be free."
"But do you know why that day hasn't come yet? Even if the verdict has been made, your sentence is delayed again and again."
Hearing that, Forbos shudder violently and looked at her in disbelief.
"It's you?"
Suddenly, Evelyn smiled. Her smile was innocent and lovely, but in Forbos's eyes, it was poisonous.
"That's right, it's me. I'm the one who instructed them to delay your execution date. If you sign this agreement, I will stop interfering with your matters. But if you don't sign it..."
