Chapter 597 Buying Her Heart?

She knew very well that Marty had a lot of houses so this villa didn't really surprised her.
With this thought in mind, Evelyn completely left this question alone.
After sitting down at the table, she took out his mobile phone and called Carrie.
After the phone was connected, she asked Carrie about things over at the filming site and Carrie told her everything.
Fortunately, her scenes were arranged for filming in the afternoon or she wouldn't have made it in time if she were to makeup now and rush over now that it was already eight thirty in the morning.
After confirming her timing for the filming, she almost hung up the call.
However, on the other end, Carrie seemed like she was hesitating to talk about something. But in the end, she just told her to hurry back to the filming site ro the director will be furious to know that she wasn't there.
After answering her in a hurry and hanging up the phone, Evelyn suddenly asked Marty,
"By the way, how did we meet last night?"
Marty glanced at her and said faintly, "You really can't remember anything?"
Evelyn shook her head blankly.
Marty put a small steamed bun in her bowl and said lightly, "You were drunk last night."
Well, she remembered this point.
Evelyn nodded in agreement.
"I received a call from you, saying that you missed me and asking me to come over quickly."
Evelyn's eyes widened.
Marty continued to say slowly, "At that time, I was busy and I couldn't leave but you seemed to be very drunk. You kept saying you missed me on the phone and you missed me so much you were crying. So I had no choice but to go over and pick you up."
After hearing what he said, Evelyn completely stunned. She was so shocked that it seemed like she had heard the most outrageous news of her life.
The whole time, she looked at Marty in disbelief. After a brief moment, she abruptly shook her head and said, "I... I don't believe it. How could I say that?"
Just then, Marty squinted and without responding to that, he just said, "Well, if you said you didn't then you probably didn't. After all, it's in the past now so it doesn't matter anyway."
After she heard him say that, Evelyn was rendered speechless.
It was fine before he said something like that, but when he put it that way… it seemed like she really did something outrageous to him!
Could it be that last night, she really...
At that moment, Evelyn could feel her heart in chaos as she couldn't believe that she would say something so embarrassing after she was drunk.
However, she had this principle that she believed.
That was to take responsibility for her own actions.
Even if she didn't remember it, she wouldn't deny it if she really did it.
With these thoughts in mind, she stood up suddenly with gritted teeth.
"Are you sure what you said is true, Marty? Did I really call you last night and say those words?"
Marty looked at her as waves of mischief flashed in the depths of his eyes.
However, he didn't show any of those expression on his face. He just said, "Like I said, it is no longer important."
"No!"
Evelyn was persistent. She felt that Marty's words sounded like he looked down upon her.
"I have to get to the bottom of this, Marty. I don't think I would take the initiative to say I miss you. Did you lie to me? Hmm?"
Even in the face of his lies being exposed, Marty still remained calm and composed.
After picking up a napkin and wiping his mouth, he laughed and said, "You can think what you like. After all, I have no evidence and this matter is not important to me."
Looking at his calm face, Evelyn was in a dilemma again.
From the looks of it, he didn't seem the least bit guilty at all!
It didn't seem like he was lying.
Could it be... last night, she really...
Uh!
Even thinking about it sent chills down her spine.
Evelyn couldn't stand herself like this. She felt as though she was too pathetic like this.
She had never expected that all these were just stories that Marty made up to tease her.
After finishing breakfast in an awkward atmosphere, Evelyn stood up as she got ready to leave after looking at the time.
But before she went out, she was stopped by him.
Then, Marty walked up to her and gave her a set of keys.
Confused, Evelyn asked instinctively, "What's this?"
"The key to the house."
Marty said, "Aunt will be discharged from the hospital soon. By then, you can't possibly ask her to squeeze in that little unit with you right? The environment is better and quieter here so it will be more suitable for her to recover. You can move in here with her. I have already arranged for the maids and they will arrive here in two days."
In a state of surprise, Evelyn didn't expect that Marty would arrange so much for her.
After staring at the set of keys in her hand for a while, a self-deprecating smile appeared on her face.
"Are you trying to buy my heart?"
After Marty took a look at her, he said calmly, "I've thought about it, but are you willing?"
Evelyn's face turned cold. "Dream on!"
In an instant, Marty smiled. Then, he reached out and wrapped his arms around Evelyn and pulled her into his embrace before looking down and asking her, "Then tell me, what does it take for me to be able to buy your heart?"
Being looked at by him like this, Evelyn felt a little nervous as if her heart was thumping uncontrollably.
In her panic, she averted his gaze and said, "I'm not telling you."
But after a brief pause, she added, "Alright, it's getting late. I have to go to work. I'll talk to you later."
After that, she ran away in a hurry.
As Marty watched her retreat, a smirk appeared on his face.
Yet, his eyes were filled with love and happiness.
After returning to the set, Evelyn found that everyone knew nothing about her disappearance last night.
Even though she arrived late on set, they just thought that she had too much to drink and slept in a little. No one suspected where she went last night.
Upon realizing that, Evelyn finally let out a sigh of relief.
With the script in her hand, she sat on the bench already dressed in the costume for today. She had on a bun on her head with some light makeup and it looked good for a person like her.
Meanwhile, Anthony was on the other side filming a scene, and it took him a few takes before he finished it.
As soon as he saw her, Anthony's eyes lit up. Immediately after he was done with his scene, he walked over to her.
"Evelyn."
Confused, Evelyn looked up.
When she saw that it was Anthony, she was surprised.
"What's wrong?"
Grinning, Anthony squatted down in front of her and said, "Nothing. I just wanted to come over and ask how you were feeling after drinking so much last night. You must have felt bad!"
After all, most people would have a splitting headache the next morning if they had too much to drink the night before.
However, perhaps because Marty had given something to take the edge of last night, she didn't really feel the headache but instead her body was aching all over.
As for the soreness of her whole body, she naturally wasn't going to tell Anthony about it.
So she just smiled at him and said gratefully, "I'm fine. Thanks for your concern."
"Hey, you're welcome!"
After waving nonchalantly, he added, "Oh right. I had my assistant broil a nutritious soup for the afternoon. I will send some over to you. Don't forget to drink it."
