Chapter 761 Stay for a Few Days
Emmeline frowned slightly and chuckled, "I think you are right."
"But I don't want to return to the Murray Family. Do you have any other place to live outside? Why don't I stay with you for a few days first?"
"Place to live outside?"
For a moment, Keira pondered before she reacted, "Actually, I do have another place to stay, but that is our company's staff dormitory. The surroundings are bad, so I am worried that you won't feel comfortable there."
"That isn't a problem for me."
Without hesitation, Emmeline interrupted Keira.
Looking at Emmeline, Keira furrowed her brows because she didn't really feel like taking Emmeline to that kind of place.
After all, that kind of place...
Seeing that Keira was troubled, Emmeline smiled and assured, "Don't worry, I'll just live there for two days."
With that, Keira nodded and agreed, "Okay then."
After that, the two of them turned around and left.
Inside the black Rolls-Royce, Jara looked at their backs as they left. His eyes darkened, and a cloud came over his face.
Sure enough, Keira's dormitory was not in good condition.
Initially, Keira thought that Emmeline would dislike it, but she went in nonchalantly.
After graduating from high school, Keira stopped studying and currently working as a waitress in a nightclub. Instead of working in the daytime, her shift usually began at six o'clock in the evening.
The dormitory was distributed equally by the company, which had three bedrooms and one living room. It was quite spacious, and three girls were living in there. As it was located in an old housing estate, the environment was fairly poor.
A stone throw away, it was the landfill site. Since Keira was living with other girls, their things were scattered everywhere in the house.
So, as soon as they entered the house, they were welcomed by the untidy surroundings.
At that moment, Keira was a little embarrassed. After entering the house, she asked Emmeline to sit as she began to tidy up the living room.
However, Emmeline didn't seem to mind and sat down spontaneously.
While Keira was putting some laundries into the washing machine, she said, "All my housemates have gone out. I will give you my clothes, and you may take a bath. When they come back, I will introduce them to you."
To that, Emmeline nodded.
Soon, Keira was done with the cleaning. After that, she gave Emmeline a set of new clothes and asked her to take a bath.
Emmeline took over the clothes and went into the bathroom. Half an hour later, she came out.
While she was wearing a simple dress, her fair skin stood out. However, she didn't have the immatureness as Keira did. On the contrary, she gave off a mature charm.
The moment Keira saw Emmeline, she was dumbfounded.
After a while, she chuckled awkwardly.
"I guess this style doesn't suit you but don't worry about it. Since tomorrow I am on leave, we can go to the mall and buy some outfit."
Hearing that, Emmeline accepted her kindness and nodded.
Then, she replied with a smile, "Sure, thanks."
After taking a shower, Keira began to plan on the groceries that she would be buying later.
Back then, when Mrs. Illington was pregnant, Mr. Murray had high hopes.
However, when Keira was born, Mr. Murray was disappointed she was not a son and disliked her.
Since then, he had been out drinking all the time and rarely came home. Moreover, he also didn't really care about Keira.
Even so, no matter how much he disliked her, she was still his biological daughter. So, other than being aloof to her, he never thought of abandoning her.
At that time, Mrs. Illington was not at a suitable age to give birth to another child. Therefore, the fact that he didn't have a son had become his sore point.
And a few years later, Mrs. Illington passed away.
Later on, Keira's life became pretty tough.
As her grades were not good enough, she was not accepted into a good university. With that, Mr. Murray refused to let her further her study.
Therefore, she could only work as a waitress in a nightclub.
Besides, her income was low. Because she was unwilling to accompany the guests, she could only receive the basic salary. Not only that, but she also had to bear Mr. Murray's expenses from time to time, so she could barely make ends meet.
To her, it was too extravagant to eat takeout or have a meal outside.
By cooking her own meal at home, she could save a lot.
Later, when Keira was out to buy groceries with Emmeline, she was still a little embarrassed.
She said, "I'm sorry, Emmeline. I haven't got my paycheck yet, so we can only have a simple meal at home. When I get this month's salary, I'll take you out for a big meal."
Moments ago, when Keira was paying at the counter, Emmeline saw her shriveled purse that barely had any cash in it.
Once she saw that, she had a rough understanding of Keira's current situation. Thus, when she heard Keira's words, she responded with a faint smile.
"It's okay. As long as we are together, I am fine with anything."
With that, Keira's mind was finally at ease.
However, regardless of being short on cash, Keira still bought a lot of high-priced vegetables.
There was fish, shrimp, and chicken too.
After returning to the dormitory, Keira let Emmeline sit aside before she started cooking.
As Emmeline was being imprisoned for four years, she had not cooked for a long time, so she did not intervene.
Silently, she observed everything around her while listening to Keira's chatter. At the same time, she was thinking about something.
Needless to say, she knew who was in the car she saw back then.
Jara was a man who was absolutely nostalgic about the past.
He could drive the same car for many years.
Even if his car broke, he would keep the license plate and use it on another car.
Therefore, she would never be mistaken—Jara was the owner of that black Rolls-Royce.
So, why did he go to the prison?
To get even with her?
Or to make fun of her?
While Emmeline was deep in her thoughts, her slightly long and narrow eyes gradually closed into a fine line.
Just then, the sound of people walking and girls' laughter sounded from outside.
Right away, she regained her senses and looked up. Then, the door was opened from the outside, and two tall girls dressed in fashionable clothes came in.
"Hey, Keira. It seems like you're having a guest."
Those two girls were Keira's housemates and colleagues.
Upon seeing her housemates, Keira quickly put the dishes aside and introduced, "Oh, hey. Meet my sister, Emmeline Illington. Emmeline, they are my housemates, Alisha Byrne and Aurelia Reid."
Alisha was a tall and slim girl with slender eyebrows.
Judging from her looks, she seemed cheerful.
As for Aurelia, she was rather neutral. The moment she saw a stranger, the smile on her face slipped, and she looked rather cold.
Besides, her hair was short, which indicated that she had a straightforward character.
After that, Emmeline stood up.
Then, she greeted them generously.
"Hi, I am Emmeline, and I'm Keira's stepsister."
Before that, Alisha and Aurelia had heard of Keira's older sister.
