Chapter 358 The Birthmark On Her Back

Gillee glanced at her again in disdain. He said in a low voice, "Do you know that just because of what happened today, the Holland family has reneged on the arranged marriage between you and Jaden."
Lara shuddered in shock.
Lara looked up at him in disbelief as her expression changed slightly. "Why?"
Gillee sneered.
"Humph, what else could it be? They don't want Jaden to marry a troublesome person. Look what you've done tonight. Do you think anyone from the upper class of Flaucford would want to marry you?"
Lara was speechless.
She bit her lip. Lara clenched her fist tight as she felt the humiliation boil up inside her.
Gillee sighed.
"That's enough. We'll talk about the arranged marriage next time. It's getting late. You should go back now. Remember to be careful so that they will not be suspicious of you."
Lara nodded, and then turned around to leave.
However, before she reached the door, Lara were stopped by Gillee again.
"Wait a minute."
Lara was stunned. When she turned around, she saw Gillee frowning and handing her a paper bag.
"She gave it to you, so you can keep it for yourself."
Lara was surprised as her face turned pale all of a sudden. After a few seconds, she reached out to take it with her trembling hands.
Seeing that there were a few pieces of cakes inside the paper bag, her eyes quickly turned red. Lara looked up at Gillee and asked in a trembling voice, "How is she doing?"
Gillee looked cold. "Very well."
After a pause, he looked at her again coldly. "As long as you don't make trouble for me and listen, she will be fine. So you should know what you should do, right?"
Lara nodded quickly.
Gillee waved his hand dismissively and said, "Get out."
At the same time, in another room.
After Gabriela took a bath, she lay on the bed, tossing and turning. She had trouble sleeping.
As soon as she closed her eyes, her mind was filled with the scene of Clarissa changing clothes in her room a few hours ago.
The red butterfly birthmark on her back was vivid as if it was alive.
She opened the drawer on the bedside table and took out a book from it.
It was a famous English literature. There was a slightly yellowed photo being placed between the pages of the book.
Gabriela took out the photo and looked at it carefully under the light.
It was an old photo with the corner of it splitting a little. In the photo, there was a baby of a few months old with her back facing the camera. She was playing with her toy while turning her head around with a smile.
There was also a red butterfly birthmark on the baby's back.
Gabriela reached out her hand and gently stroked the image of the butterfly. She remembered what Vivian had said to her a long time ago.
"Gabriela, this is your sister. She was unlucky and was abducted by the traffickers when she was a few months old, so we adopted you. But you can rest assured that both of you are my loving daughters, whether we are related by blood or not. My love for you is the same. So if you get to find your sister in the future, you must take care of each other and help each other out, okay?"
Those words were spoken to Gabriela a long time ago.
It was so long ago that it sounded like it came from another dimension, and even the sound became vague.
But Gabriela still remembered it.
She also remembered the regret in Vivian's eyes when she left, and the gentle smile she wore when she looked at her.
Without a doubt, Gabriela was lucky.
Being able to stand out among so many children in the orphanage, she was selected to be Vivian's child.
Over the years, Vivian had always treated her as if she was her own daughter, just as she had promised.
Although Gabriela was already several years old when she adopted her, she had the basic ability to think and to keep memory as a kid.
But Vivian still treated Gabriela very well and she never hid the truth that Gabriela was her adopted daughter.
Vivian was the one that taught her that blood relations did not mean everything.
Even those who were not related by blood could become their closest kin.
Gabriela closed her eyes as recalled Vivian's death. She felt her heart ached a little.
When she closed his eyes again, Gabriela suddenly came to her senses.
She looked at the photo and whispered, "Mom, don't worry! If it's really her, I'll admit it. I'll do what you told me to do and not let her wander around outside."
Gabriela lowered her head and buried the photo in her chest. It took her quite a while to put it down.
She kept the photo again before turning off the lights and fell asleep.
......
The next day.
Lara suddenly received Gabriela's invitation to go to a newly built hot spring villa in Flaucford.
Although Lara was surprised, since she had nothing to do and some of the Levine family had despised her because of what happened last night, she did not decline her invitation.
After all, Lara needed more people to get on her side including Gabriela who had just taken the initiative to ask her out.
So, at noon that day, after dinner, they drove to the hot spring villa together.
The hot spring villa was located in the suburb of the city. The environment was very good, and there were several kinds of hot springs. It was the perfect season to soak in the hot springs.
After the two of them changed their clothes, they went into the hot spring pool together.
To be honest, Lara and Gabriela were not familiar with each other due to the awkward relationship between the two of them.
After all, Gabriela was the adopted daughter, and Lara was the missing "granddaughter" that had just been found and returned to the family. Therefore, it was inevitable for them to compete against each other.
Therefore, even when they met each other, they would usually say hello to each other without saying anything more.
Hence, at this time, they sat in the pool and were speechless for a moment. They didn't know what to talk about.
However, Lara was observant. Gabriela was never close to her, so there must be a reason of why Gabriela had asked Lara to join her to come here together.
So, Lara found a random topic and chatted with her. She wanted to take this opportunity to find out Gabriela's intention.
Lara was smart, but Gabriela was not stupid either.
However, Gabriela did not have any special reason to ask her out. She just wanted to prove something, so she was not afraid of Lara's trick.
Even if Lara wanted to get something out of her, it was unlikely she would succeed as Gabriela was a shrewd person.
Thus, the two of them went back and forth without saying anything truthfully, although they had been in the pool for a long time.
After a while, perhaps they found it boring to do that anymore,  Lara looked at the time and suggested to get out of the pool to take a rest and eat something.
Gabriela agreed.
Because Lara was covered with a bath towel when she first came out, Gabriela couldn't see her body. Hence, when Lara was getting out of the pool, Gabriela deliberately walked behind her.
She saw Lara stepping on the steps to get out of the pool. Her sexy bikini outlined her perfect and slim figure and there was nothing on her fair-skinned back.
She couldn't help but frown after being stunned for a while.
"Lara, I heard before that you have a birthmark on your back, right? Why didn't I see it just now?"
