Chapter 632 The Reporters

Even if Evelyn did not say anything, the reporters would undoubtedly create trouble as long as she showed up.
As she thought of this, Evelyn's face darkened, and she then gave an order to the driver.
"Make a U-turn and go to the Lavender Villa."
Since the driver was familiar with the place, he obeyed the order and drove away.
Twenty minutes later, the car came to a halt in front of Lavender Villa.
Fortunately, no one knew about this place at this time, so it was extremely safe.
Then, Evelyn and Carrie got out of the car. Carrie was carrying a lot of things. As they were walking into the house, Evelyn's phone suddenly rang.
She looked at the caller's contact. It was her mother.
Without hesitation, Evelyn picked it up.
Iris's gentle voice was soon heard from the other side of the phone.
"Evelyn, are you home?"
Evelyn told her mother that she would return home today after finishing the film the day before. That was why Iris asked her this question.
Evelyn's cold face softened a little, and she replied, "Yes, I'm home. Mom, how are you?"
Iris replied with a smile, "I'm fine. According to the doctor, my body is recovering quickly, and I can be discharged from the hospital soon."
Such good news eased Evelyn's tense mood a little bit.
This was one of the few pieces of good news she had ever heard during this period of time.
Then, she smiled and said, "I'm glad to hear that. I will pick you up when you get out of the hospital."
Iris responded, "No, it's fine. I can go back on my own."
Afterward, Evelyn chuckled softly as she gazed at the villa in front of her.
"That won't do. You don't even know where I live now. How can you come on your own?"
Upon hearing that, Iris was stunned.
"It's an apartment, right? Of course I know!"
When it came to this, Evelyn could only sigh helplessly.
"I can't live there for the time being. I'm staying somewhere else recently. I will take you here when you are discharged from the hospital."
Confused for a moment, Iris asked with concern, "What happened? Why can't you stay there?"
She had no idea what was going on online since she had been recuperating and had not browsed the Internet.
In addition, she was old, so she did not know anything about Twitter.
So until now, she had no clue how badly Evelyn had been slandered online.
This, though, was a good thing for Evelyn.
After all, all her mother could do was to worry about her.
In fact, it would not be helpful.
Evelyn pursed her lips and explained, "Nothing. I will explain it to you when you are out from the hospital."
Although Iris was still a little worried, she could only agree.
After hanging up the phone, Evelyn entered the house with Carrie.
Since no one was staying in the house at the time, it was vacant.
Carrie to put the things down, and Evelyn sent Carrie off.
After a shower upstairs, Evelyn checked her phone while drying her hair.
Her next schedule had already been sent to her by Marissa.
She took a glance at it and learned that there was nothing new to film recently.
The next job was two days away. Besides, she needed to travel abroad to shoot a series of fashion photos for a cosmetics endorsement.
As a result, these two days were simply rest days for her.
Evelyn thought for a moment before dialing Marty's number.
"What are you doing?"
On the other side of the phone, Marty mumbled, "Nothing. Are you home?"
Evelyn didn't notice that there was something wrong with his tone and nodded.
"Yes. I got home not long ago. By the way, I came to the Lavender Villa because there were reporters at my place."
"Do you miss me?" Marty asked, smiling.
Evelyn burst out laughing.
However, she refused to play along with his sugarcoated words.
So she deliberately said while smiling, "No."
On the other hand, Marty snorted and said, "You're so naughty. We'll see if you miss me when I come back!"
How could Evelyn not know that he was just acting like a spoiled child?
Then, she looked at her watch and asked, "When are you coming back?"
"Soon."
Initially, he did not intend to go back so soon, but he could not wait any longer when he learned Evelyn was home. He just wished to appear in front of her right away.
Evelyn nodded and said, "Then let's talk when you get back. Bye."
"Alright."
After hanging up the phone, Evelyn took a rest and took another shower. When it was almost noon, she went to the kitchen downstairs.
Although no one lived here, Marty would have someone refill the supplies in the refrigerator regularly. So it would be easy for Evelyn to come over at any time.
When Evelyn got to the kitchen, she took out the ingredients she needed.
Since she had nothing else to do, she decided to make some food.
Her cooking skills were not bad, but she did not have much faith in herself because she had not cooked in a long time.
At this time, recalling the practice of the past and reading the recipe was enough.
Evelyn planned to make something simple.
After all, there were just the two of them eating, and they could not possibly finish everything if she cooked more.
Hence, she just wanted to make fried rice and mushroom soup.
Once she was done preparing the ingredients, she officially began cooking.
Marty had just walked through the door when he smelled the delicious food.
In a surprise, he raised his brows.
He changed his shoes and walked in. As expected, a familiar figure was cooking in the kitchen, with her back facing him.
Marty's lips instantly curled up into a smile.
Somehow, he was moved.
How long had it been since he last saw such a scene?
It was warm and calm, but it also put him at ease and made him feel relaxed.
He did not make a sound. Leaning against the doorframe, Marty observed her quietly.
Evelyn was so focused on her cooking that she did not notice his presence for a while.
When she was done with the fried rice, she turned around and prepared to take a bowl of mushroom soup.
Just as she turned around, she was surprised to see Marty standing there sluggishly.
She was taken aback. After regaining her senses, she smiled and asked, "What are you doing here? You scared me!"
Marty let go of his arm, walked over to her, and took her into his arms.
"Why did you suddenly think of cooking?"
He did not even attempt to hide his joy in his tone. So, how could Evelyn not hear it?
She gave him a strange look and smiled as she said, "You make it seem as if I never cook. Don't forget who cooked the pasta for you the other day."
Marty couldn't help but laugh.
He didn't expect that she would haggle over this.
Then, he nodded in a serious manner and said, "Yes. It's you."
After thinking about it, Evelyn also felt that she was quite childish and burst out laughing.
