Chapter 326 Looking After The Child

Previously, Clarissa and Lauren had analyzed the future carefully, and Lauren heeded it.
Therefore, she knew that she had to make a trip back to Visstead.
However, there would be no problem if she was going back alone. But she couldn't bring her kid around with her.
The first reason was that Joy had just recovered from a serious illness. He was just a few months old and was susceptible to sickness.
Secondly, she was also worried that Dexter wouldn't let the child enter the house. If there were to be a quarrel or an argument, the child would suffer.
After listening to Lauren's worries, Clarissa could understand what she was thinking about.
Clarissa nodded and said, "Lauren, you can rest assured that I will take good care of Joy. During this period of time, you can go back to deal with your problem. I promise that I won't let anything hurt Joy until you come back."
Lauren smiled gratefully.
"Of course I believe that you will do a great job of looking after Joy."
She paused for a moment before taking a final look at the child before departing. Then she handed the child to Marry, got up and said, "It's getting late. I have to go back. During this period of time, let Marry stay here and help you with taking care of Joy. She has been taking care of him. She knows Joy's temperament and she is experienced."
Clarissa nodded and asked Pattie to take Marry and the child to the guest room to settle down. Then she got up to see Lauren out.
"What time is your flight tomorrow?"
"Eight o'clock in the morning."
"Do you want me to give you a ride?"
"There's no need."
Lauren hesitated for a moment and sighed.
"I hope that everything will go smoothly this time. In fact, I'm also tired of being in a cold war with my dad this year. I will not compromise anything related to my child. I don't expect my dad to forgive me, but only hope that he can let it go and walk the rest of the path by myself."
Hearing her words, Clarissa suddenly felt her heart sink.
But she still gave her a hug as an encouragement.
"It will go well. I have faith in you."
After sending off Lauren, Clarissa returned to the room and went over to Pattie's place to have a look.
Pattie had taken Marry and Joy to the guest room and was arranging everything for them to stay.
Fortunately, Anne often came over, so there was plenty of stuff in the house that could be useful for kids.
In addition, Lauren had asked Marry to bring all the necessities here, so she was not in a hurry.
After everything had been settled down, Clarissa looked at Joy.
Joy was having a good sleep. Even now, there was no sign that he was going to wake up.
A tiny lump was formed in the crib. The sleeping baby looked like a cute little angel.
Clarissa couldn't help but feel warm in her heart. After she tucked her in, she said, "Marry, could you please look after Joy alone tonight? Tomorrow I will find a servant with childcare experience to assist you, so that you can take turns to take care of him."
Marry quickly smiled and said, "It doesn't matter. I've been taking care of Joy for a long time and I'm used to it. It doesn't matter even if I'm alone."
Clarissa smiled and didn't say anything else.
After everything had been settled down, she went upstairs to find Anderson.
Anderson was in the study at this time. When he saw her come in, he asked, "Have you done with all the arrangements?"
"Yes."
Clarissa thought for a moment and said, "New Year's day is two days from now. I suppose Lauren will only be back after the New Year's holidays. I'll be free during this period. I'm thinking of bringing Anne over here. She can keep Joy company as well."
Anderson did not comment on Clarissa's proposal.
"Well, you can go ahead with your plan."
The next day, Clarissa went to the mansion.
When Anne saw Clarissa, she was naturally very happy.
When she learned that there was a little brother at home waiting for him, her eyes suddenly lit up.
"Mom, you and daddy finally gave birth to a little brother? Won't I be an elder sister now?"
Clarissa couldn't help but laugh. She scratched her little nose and said, "Don't talk nonsense. That's Aunt Lauren's child. Mommy and Lauren are good friends, so Joy can be considered as also your brother too."
Anne suddenly realized something.
"Mommy, when will you give birth to a real little brother?"
Clarissa was speechless.
Mhmm...
On the other side, the old lady and the old master could not help but laugh. The old lady smiled and said, "As long as you don't make a fuss about staying with mommy every day, mommy and daddy will be able to give you a little brother soon."
Upon hearing this, Anne immediately pouted unhappily.
"I haven't lived with mommy for a long time. Isn't such a long period of time enough? If that's the case, then I won't want a little brother anymore."
As Anne spoke, she turned her face away in annoyance and snorted.
Clarissa thought Anne was very cute and said with a smile, "The winter vacation lasts more than 20 days. You can stay with mommy for the whole winter vacation. Aren't you happy?"
Anne's eyes lit up for a second before she looked at Clarissa with suspicion.
"Really? You're not lying?"
In the face of Anne's suspicious gaze, Clarissa suddenly paused.
For some reason, she felt a twinge of sadness.
Anne's life had been too bumpy. She didn't have a mother to accompany her since she was young. Although Anderson loved her enough and was patient with her, he was still too busy. Usually, the ones who accompanied her the most were the old madam and the old master.
Therefore, Anne felt extremely insecure deep inside her heart.
She sighed softly as she squatted down. Holding the child in her arms, Clarissa whispered, "It's true. When you get better, you will be with me every day and we will never be separated again, okay?"
Anne was suddenly excited.
"Well, I know you're the best."
Next to her, the old madam's eyes suddenly became moist when she saw this scene.
There was no doubt that Clarissa was truly very kind.
In the past, she had thought that Clarissa would find it hard to accept Anne as her child.
But now, it seemed that she really regarded Anne as her own child and was not biased at all.
Thinking about this, the old madam said, "Clarissa, come with me."
She then got up and went upstairs.
Clarissa got up. Although she was a little confused, she still followed the old madam.
The old madam led Clarissa to her room.
In the Jordan Family's old mansion, an old servant who served the old madam was named Josie. Usually, everyone called her Nanny Josie. She had been with the old madam when she was young and was very trusted by the old madam.
At this time, she was tidying up the room for the old madam.
Seeing them come in, she immediately stopped what she was doing and said with a smile, "Old Madam, Madam, you are here."
The old madam nodded and did not try to avoid her. She directly ordered, "Help me bring over the antique sandalwood box in the drawer."
Josie replied to her with a yes before hurrying over.
The old madam took Clarissa's hand and sat down on the chair. Then she said, "Clarissa, you and Anderson have known each other for a long time, and you didn't hold a wedding ceremony, so I didn't have time to give you anything. In my heart, I like you very much. I know that, whether it is Anderson or Anne, I can trust them with you."
Clarissa couldn't help frowning when she felt that there was something wrong with her words.
