Chapter 966 Anne's Birthday

This sentence had made everyone laugh out loud.
Then, Clarissa walked over and looked at him reproachfully. "Clever little brat. And you're not even ashamed to say that. Come down quickly. You will tire out your Great-Aunt Chantel."
In a hurry, Marf slipped out of Chantel's arms. With a smile, Chantel said cheerfully, "It's alright. You are my favorite great-nephew."
After that, the group of people moved to the dining room happily. At the same time, the Leonard family had sent someone to send a gift. After all, Anne was Clarissa's child. Although she was not her own, in terms of seniority, Anne would still address Aidan Leonard as Uncle Aiden.
Clarissa and Anderson had prepared gifts for her too. Clarissa had given Anne a skirt that she had her eyes on for awhile, and Anderson was much simpler.
He only gave her a credit card. When she reached the legal age, this would be her own money, which she could manage on her own.
Looking at his gift, Clarissa was laughing in tears.
Fortunately, her great-grand parents were more diligent as they had handmade desserts for her.
Anne was so happy that she was eating the pastries while opening the gifts.
When it was Chantel's turn, Anne looked up at her and asked with expectation, "Great-Aunt Chantel, what are you giving me?"
In response, Chantel smiled mysteriously and said, "You are the princess in our family. Of course, I have prepared a special gift for you."
As she spoke, she took out an exquisite gift box.
Anne's eyes lit up and she quickly took it.
After she opened it, she realized that it was a delicately pure jade that had a lotus design on it.
"What a beautiful jade pendant!"
Anne took out the jade in surprise. Seeing that, Chantel smiled and said, "What do you think? Do you like the gift?"
In response, Anne nodded repeatedly. "I like it. Thank you, Great-Aunt Chantel."
When Matteo saw that, she smiled and commented. "Chantel has finally shown her generosity this time."
In a flirtish voice, Chantel replied, "Mom, what are you talking about? I have always been generous to Anne."
The group of people laughed, but Clarissa, who was sitting next to them, had a change in expression.
As she stared at the jade pendant, a distant memory flashed across her mind. Then, she became slightly absent-minded.
It was only when Anderson was calling for her that she came to her senses.
"Clarissa, Clarissa?"
Stunned, Clarissa turned to look at Anderson. "Huh? What's wrong?"
Knitting his brows, Anderson quickly noticed something was off with her.
"Are you okay?"
Pursing her lips, she then shook her head. "I'm fine."
As she said that, her eyes fell on the jade pendant in Anne's hand, and there was a flicker of doubt in her eyes.
After the family finished dinner, they chatted along with the elders for a while. When the clock stroke twelve, it was time to cut the cake, then only it could be considered a complete birthday.
On the way home, the kids were so sleepy that their eyelids were already drooping.
While Clarissa carried Marf in her arms, she let Anne to sleep in the backseat. Although she was only nine years old, she inherited Anderson's genes, so she was very tall. At such a young age, she was already 1.4 meters tall.
Anne was all curled up in the seat and couldn't sleep well.
Seeing that, Clarissa reached out to hold her hand, then adjusted the small blanket on her, which made her feel at ease.
Soon, they arrived at Starbay Villa.
Clarissa woke Anne up and got out of the car with the Marf in her arms. As Anne was in a daze, she reached out for someone to carry her without opening her eyes.
Then, Anderson walked over and picked her up as they walked into the house.
Meanwhile, Pattie had been waiting for them. She knew that they would come back late today, so she specially prepared supper.
But how could they have an appetite to eat? Therefore, Clarissa asked Pattie to sleep earlier, then took the kids back to their rooms.
Only after settling the kids that she returned to her room.
Everyone was exhausted today. After returning to the room, they slept soundly and decided not to bring up the topic about the pendant.
The next day.
When Clarissa woke up, it was already eight o'clock in the morning.
The kids were supposed to go to school today, but Anne suddenly caught a cold. Clarissa only found out about it when she came downstairs.
Anne had had a great time celebrating her birthday last night, so she might have caught a cold. The doctor had tested her temperature and found that she had a low fever, which was 37.5°C.
On the other hand, Marf was whining that he didn't want to go to school as well. Clarissa had no choice but to call the school to ask for leave. Then she asked the servants to send Marf to the daycare center. After that, she tried to feed Anne her medicine.
Anderson had went out early in the morning. After Clarissa coaxed Anne to take her medicine, she lay down again. Only then did Clarissa say with a smile, "You're such a big girl already, and you can't take the beat? After being knocked down a minor cold, you gave up going to school, how embarrassing!"
Upon hearing that, Anne felt a little embarrassed. Blushing, she hid under the blanket and replied in a crisp voice, "Let me play for one day, Mommy. I promise I'll make up for today's classes."
Knowing that Anne was still in high spirits after her birthday yesterday, Clarissa did not force her.
But she still went to pick up two exercise books and put them beside her bed.
"You can rest for today, but you can't leave your study behind. When you feel better later, finish these exercise, okay?"
After receiving the orders, Anne nodded obediently.
Then, Clarissa rubbed her head. "Good girl."
Suddenly, Anne uttered. "Mommy, I want to open last night's gift."
Clarissa was surprised to hear that. Last night, not only did the Jordan family send gifts, but the other families as well as some relatives knew that it was Anne's birthday, so they had sent in some gifts as well.
Some of them were sent to the old residence, but distant relatives didn't know that they would be at the old residence last night, so the gifts were all sent to Starbay Villa.
As the boxes piled up in the living room, Pattie felt that they were blocking the way, so she had moved them to the storeroom before they came back last night.
With a smile, Clarissa agreed. "Okay, but can you get up?"
"Yes, I can."
When it came to dismantling the gifts, Anne suddenly became excited. Immediately, she flipped her blanket and got out of the bed.
When Clarissa saw that, she couldn't help but laugh. Helplessly, she had no choice but to help her put on her clothes.
After putting on her clothes, she smiled again and said, "Let's make it a deal. I can only stay at home with you for half a day. After we are done opening the gifts, I have to go to work. You have to do your homework at home, okay?"
With a nod, she put her arms around Clarissa's neck and kissed her on the cheek.
"Mommy, you're the best."
Clarissa shook her head happily.
When they went to the storeroom, they saw that there were all kinds of boxes of various colors piling up on the ground at the center of the storeroom.
At the moment, Pattie came in and smiled awkwardly. "Mrs. Jordan, Miss Anne, sorry. They were coming in one after another last night, and I didn't have time to tidy them up, so all of them were piled up here."
In turn, Anne answered seriously, "It's alright, Pattie. You can clean up after I open them. Otherwise, if I open the gifts after you've arranged them, it would be more troublesome, right?"
Pattie smiled dryly. After Clarissa dismissed her, she picked up a box. At a glance, she found that it was sent by the Levine Family.
When she saw that, she couldn't help but laugh, "Here. You can open it yourself."
