Chapter 955 Never Gave Birth Before

The news of Clarissa's pregnancy soon spread.
Of course, Anderson's family knew about it, and after the news began to spread, the Leonard family heard about it too.
Hence, Aidan especially took time to see her. It had been a while since Aiden caught up with his niece—Clarissa. Therefore, when they saw each other, they chatted for a long time.
At noon, Clarissa originally wanted to invite him for lunch, but Aidan refused.
Looking at her lovingly, he explained with a smile, "I just took time to come see you. I am having lunch with a friend at noon, so I won't be eating here. Take care, and be more careful with the baby. Don't be too tired. Call me if you need anything."
As he finished his sentence, Clarissa nodded and didn't force him to stay. It was only after she sent him out that she went back into the house.
Unexpectedly, it was only a moment after she went back in, Carlos, Matteo, and Anderson's aunt, Chantel, had come to visit as well.
As Clarissa and Anderson were living in the Starbay Villa, they didn't return to the old residence as often. On one hand, they were busy, and on the other hand, Carlos and Matteo were not like any ordinary couple who felt lonely at old age. They had their own lives, so they didn't like to be disturbed if there was no special occasion.
Therefore, Clarissa and Anderson would only visit them on the weekends.
Now, the old couple actually came to visit. It was obvious that they were here for the child.
In the meantime, Clarissa welcomed them with a smile. Matteo looked at her belly, which clearly still flat and there was nothing to be seen, she seemed to have seen her great-grandchild, as she grinned happily.
"Hey, Clarissa. Don't get up. Sit down! Don't think that it's easier this time because it's your second baby. Having a baby is like passing through the gates of death. Even if it's your second baby, it won't be as easy as having the first one."
In response, Clarissa smiled and asked Pattie to make tea. Then she asked, "Why brings you here today?"
When Matteo heard the question, she glared at her. "Silly child. Obviously, we came to see you because of your good news. How can we not pay you a visit?"
At this moment, Chantel, who had been quiet all the while, interrupted. "Yes, yes. We are all happy for you, so we purposely come to see you."
In the past, Chantel didn't like Clarissa and she'd always give her a hard time.
However, after so many years, perhaps Chantel knew her better now and thought that Clarissa was not as bad as she thought. Or maybe she had accepted that Anderson and Clarissa were in a serious relationship, and they were never going to break up.
In short, in the past few years, she no longer treated her like how she did in the beginning, and sometimes, she even treated her like family.
On the other hand, Clarissa knew that Anderson's parents had died early, and Chantel had always helped to take care of him when he was young. Naturally, she was happy to go with the flow.
Seeing that Chantel was being so friendly, Clarissa smiled and replied, "Thank you for your concern, and thank you for coming. We didn't find out about it until two days ago too. The doctor said that the baby is fine. I just need to rest more and relax a little."
After being reassured that the baby was fine, Matteo nodded repeatedly. "That's great, that's great."
Suddenly, she asked with concern, "How big is the baby now?"
In response, Clarissa replied, "6 weeks."
"What? It's been six weeks and you just found out about it?"
Upon hearing the answer, Chantel exclaimed. "Do you know the first trimester is the most dangerous phase of the pregnancy? What if something happens?"
When Matteo heard Chantel's comment, she was immediately displeased.
Tilting her head, Matteo glared at her. "What do you mean if something happened? What could happen? Don't make a fuss out of it, okay? The first trimester is the most dangerous phase? You said it as if you've given birth before."
"I..."
Upon hearing that, Chantel became really angry. Although she had been married, she had long been separated from her husband because they didn't get along. Now that she was single, let alone giving birth to a child, it had never crossed her mind.
Yet, Matteo was using this as a way to tease her. Obviously, it was not intentional, but when Chantel heard that, she was indeed affected.
Seeing that her eyes were about to turn red, Clarissa quickly smiled and tried to smooth things over. "Even though Aunt Chantel has never given birth before, she's been through over the years. Besides, she was the one who raised me up back then, so she certainly knows this better than I do. Therefore, I understand where she is coming from."
After Clarissa's explanation, Chantel's face softened a little.
After all, it was her mother, Matteo, who said those words. Hence, she didn't take it to heart.
In the end, she pretended to be angry and said, "Did you heart it, Mom? Clarissa knows what to say."
But Matteo answered calmly. "That's because she cares about your pride. Do you think everyone is like you? You're already getting old and yet, you are unwilling to get married. Not to mention you're always hanging out with a bunch of nondescript people. Have a good look at yourself!"
As soon as the words were spoken, Chantel's face, which had been softened, was suddenly darkened again.
Immediately, she sprang up and said angrily, "Mom, what are you talking about? What do you mean nondescript people?"
Matteo's gaze were stern, and it was obvious that her tone was filled with contempt. "Aren't the two third-rate celebrities who were with you last time nondescript people?"
"They are actors and artists! Mom, don't talk nonsense if you don't know!"
"Artists? Oh, why didn't I see them achieve anything out of it? None of them are good. Don't hang around with them."
As she spoke, she seemed to realize something and explained to Clarissa with a smile, "I'm referring to those small actors who don't work hard and always think about hooking up with each other. I'm not talking about you."
Clarissa smiled. Of course, she understood what Matteo was saying.
In fact, she had indeed bumped into Chantel hanging around with a young male actor several times. Because of the nature of her work, she had heard of the actor, and he seemed to be a new actor who had become a little famous for a web series last year.
It was hard to judge what kind of person he was as Clarissa had never talked to him, but Chantel was already in her forties, and that young actor was only in his early twenties. According to Chantel's temper and personality, Clarissa didn't believe that the actor was actually in love with her.
However, these were people's private affairs at the end of the day. Besides, with Chantel's identity, it wouldn't be a problem for her to be the 'sugar mommy' of a young lover.
Therefore, it was inappropriate for her to comment on anything.
Consequently, Clarissa changed the topic with a smile. "Grandma, I might not be able to take care of Anne and Marf later in pregnancy. I might need your help at that time."
With a smile, Matteo responded. "What are you saying? We are a family. We should help each other."
As she spoke, she patted her hand with a smile. "It's definitely not easy for you to go to work and take care of the children while being pregnant. On top of that, with the kids messing around, it will affect your pregnancy too. Why don't you let Anne and Marf stay over with me at the old residence for awhile so you can get a good rest?"
Hearing that, Clarissa shook her head.
"There's no need, Grandma. You can take Anne with you and take care of her for a while. As for Marf, he should stay here."
