Chapter 366 Her Background

"Didn't you hear the doctor say that you can't move? If you need something, why don't you call Nora in?"
Nora had been guarding outside the door, so that no one could disturb Clarissa from her sleep or Nora could take care of her if Clarissa was awake.
Clarissa was a little embarrassed. "My hands are injured, not my legs. I don't need someone to help to get me a glass of water, do I?"
Anderson sneered.
"So you're going to use your injured hands to hold the cup, huh?"
Clarissa looked embarrassed.
After pausing for a few seconds, she said, "I'm sorry, I forgot about it."
Anderson snorted and put her on the bed. Then he turned around and poured a glass of warm water before handing it to her.
Clarissa took the cup from him and took a sipped while holding it. She looked at him and asked, "You haven't answered my question yet. Did you just come back from outside?"
"Yeah."
As he answered, Anderson grabbed her hand and rolled up the sleeves of her pajamas.
Clarissa's delicate hands were wrapped in thick bandages, which were particularly eye-catching.
He frowned slightly and was about to reach out to untie the bandages.
Clarissa quickly stopped him. "Hey, stop it. They just applied the medicine on it before I went to bed."
Anderson stopped and stroked the wound. He asked in a deep voice, "Does it still hurt?"
"Bearable. The medicine Doctor Amy gave me was quite effective. Except for the pain when changing the medicine, I don't feel anything now."
Besides, the injuries she sustained were necessary to save her life. She thought it was worthwhile even if it left scars.
Anderson said no more. He only gazed at the wound with a heart-wrenching gaze.
Clarissa didn't want him to look again, so she retracted her hand and asked, "Who is the mastermind behind the accident? Have you found out?"
Anderson looked at her deeply. "I thought you should know."
Clarissa murmured, "Lara?"
Anderson nodded.
Clarissa had a rough idea in her heart.
There were only a few people who had a grudge against her. But she couldn't understand why Lara, who was already the daughter of the Levine family, still couldn't get along with her.
Couldn't Lara live her own life? Wasn't she trying to make things worse for herself?
Didn't Lara have better things to do? What could she achieve by doing so?
Anderson could tell the suspicions Clarissa was having. He said in a low voice, "It's not only Lara, there's also Gillee."
Clarissa was stunned. She couldn't believe it. "Uncle Gillee?"
"That's right."
Anderson did not hide anything from her. He took out his phone and showed her the recording that he had copied from Lara's phone.
After hearing this, Clarissa was very shocked.
Because the recording not only proved that this incident was planned by Gillee and Lara together, but more importantly, Lara and Gillee were actually father and daughter?
This... This was just too unbelievable!
Clarissa swallowed and drank two more mouthfuls of water before she could digest everything that she had just heard.
She looked up and asked with a puzzled face, "Since Lara is Gillee's illegitimate daughter, why did she pretend to be Vivian's daughter? Isn't it better to be recognized as Gillee's daughter rather than pretending to be Vivian's daughter ?"
Anderson sneered.
"Because Vivian left behind 15% of the shares of the Levine Group before she died. Only her daughter can inherit it. If she is Gillee's daughter, she can get nothing but a hefty amount of dowry and the title as the heiress of the Levine family when she gets married."
Clarissa was speechless.
Sure enough, some people were willing to die in pursuit of wealth. This was true.
She thought for a while but still felt confused.
"If that's the case, then shouldn't she take advantage of this opportunity? Once Old Master Levine dies, she can inherit a billion dollars of fortune. Then why did she still want to come after me?"
Anderson took another glance at her deeply.
Clarissa felt a chill down her spine after being stared at by his gaze, as she felt that there were many indescribable and complicated emotions in his eyes.
She took a few steps back and muttered, "Why are you staring at me like that?"
Anderson sighed. "Nothing."
In fact, he didn't quite fathom out what was going on before.
But just this afternoon, when Old Master Levine rushed to the hospital to see how her injuries were, he vaguely sensed something.
Later, when he got the recording, he confirmed that Lara was indeed not Vivian's biological daughter. With the relationship between Clarissa and Lara, it was not difficult to deduce that Chloe and others destroyed the evidence that could prove Clarissa's identity before Gimmy got to discover the truth.
Therefore, the real child was very likely to be Clarissa.
However, before that can be proven, he decided not to tell Clarissa about it.
After all, if his conjecture turned out to be true, then they might have to reconsider her background. In order to prevent Clarissa from fumbling with a jumble of thoughts, it was better not to break it to her first.
Anyway, no matter who she was, one thing that would never change that she was his wife. That was enough.
He rubbed her hair and said softly, "Stop thinking about it. Leave it to me. I will deal with it, alright?"
Clarissa nodded.
Since this matter involved Gillee, then it would naturally involve the Levine family too. Thus, the most suitable way to deal with this matter was to leave everything to Anderson.
Anyway, no matter what the outcome was, she could understand his way of doing things.
And on the other side, the Levine family's residence.
Old Master Levine also received a copy of that recording.
The recording was sent to him by Anderson.
After all, since Lara was really the descendant of the Levine family, Anderson had to inform Old Master Levine first before dropping Lara.
It didn't matter if he agreed or disagreed. Anderson was just informing Old Master Levine out of his respect for him.
It was also to show that he was coming after Lara, not the Levine family.
When Old Master Levine received the recording, he flew into a rage after listening to it.
He didn't expect that his own son would do such a stupid thing behind his back!
Not only did Gillee allow his illegitimate daughter to pretend to be Vivian's daughter, but he also helped Lara to harm his niece!
What an animal!
However, Old Master Levine didn't immediately lose his temper.
After all, Gillee was his biological son. For so many years, no matter in the company or at home, he had a lot of trusted subordinates and spies.
Old Master Levine was already old. In the past few years, he had left many things in the hands of both of his sons.
Gillee was way too smart. Sometimes he felt that Gimmy was on the weak side. In order to prevent the Gimmy from feeling jealous, sometimes he even helped him a little more.
It was also precisely because of this that Old Master Levine did not dare to act rashly.
However, that didn't mean that he wouldn't make any move.
Soon, Old Master Levine secretly gave orders to his men to retrieve the power in Gillee's hand. Gille was no longer allowed to use all the privileges related to the Levine family, including the company's.
After doing all this, he took out a photo from under the pillow with his trembling hands. Under the moonlight, he could see that there was a young woman in the photo. It was his daughter, Vivian.
He smiled bitterly and sighed before putting the photo back.
