Chapter 249 She Wanted The Truth
The next day, Clarissa received a phone call from Millie.
The news that Lara was taken away by the police caused a stir, so the Chapman family naturally knew about it.
Last night, they got the news earlier than Elliot, but they wanted to see what the Duncan family would do, so they didn't take action.
However, Elliot and Conner not only didn't put up bail for Lara but also said that she had committed a crime and she asked for it.
The Duncan family was implicated by her. The board of directors became highly unstable. The endorsement had been canceled and they had spent a lot of money in vain. They hadn't got even with Lara because of these problems.
So why should they find a way to put up bail for Lara?
Conner even said that if Lara was released, that would be good. If she really committed a crime, the Duncan family would never cover for her.
At that time, Elliot must divorce her.
People in the Chapman family went berserk. Chloe was so angry that she smashed the tea pot in front of her and pointed at Conner, but she couldn't say a word for a long time.
Finally, they had no choice but to leave because Elliot and Conner were too ruthless.
As soon as they left the Duncan family, they immediately went to Starlight.
The reason why Clarissa received Millie's phone call was that the Chapman family were making a fuss in Starlight.
Many reporters gathered outside. After all, there were many actors in Starlight. If they continued to make a trouble, it will not have a good impact on the company and the actors.
Therefore, Millie had to take the risk to call Clarissa and ask her what to do.
Clarissa thought for a moment and said in a deep voice, "Let her answer the phone."
Millie's eyes widened in surprise.
"Is this okay? There are many reporters outside."
"It's okay. Just take her away. Remember, take her alone. Don't give her the phone if anyone else follows her."
Millie thought for a while and agreed.
She asked Chloe to go to Clarissa's office alone, and then locked the door and gave her the phone.
"Answer it!"
Chloe was astonished, but she didn't expect that Clarissa would really contact her. It seemed that making a fuss was really useful.
She thought Clarissa was afraid of her, so she quickly took the phone and said rudely, "You wicked girl! You're still afraid of me, right? I thought that you really had backbone and could hide yourself from me forever!"
Clarissa frowned slightly.
She really couldn't figure out why Chloe could still say such ridiculous words by assuming an air of superiority.
She sneered.
"Mrs. Chapman, it seems that you still don't know who has the upper hand and who is at the disadvantage now. Your tone... makes me uncomfortable, or let's talk another day?"
Chloe was stunned.
Only then did she realize that she got this chance to talk to Clarissa with great difficulty, and she couldn't miss this opportunity.
Therefore, she suppressed the anger in her heart, softened her tone, and said, "Alright, let's not talk about those things for the time being. Tell me! Why do you want to frame our Lara?"
"What's more, what do you want me to do so that you can show up? I know that you are not missing at all. Now you're hiding somewhere because you want to ruin my Lara's life!"
Clarissa's face was slightly indifferent, and her eyes were somewhat mocking.
Our Lara?
Ah! Once upon a time, Chloe also called her "my Clarissa"!
Memories of the past flitted through Clarissa's mind. Chloe and Gianni used to treat her very well. At that time, three generations were living a happy life under the same roof.
But she always couldn't understand why everyone had changed since Lara and her mother came to their house.
Her mother died, and she became an abandoned child from Chloe's favourite granddaughter.
She was thrown away just like a useless tool, and they even felt disgusted when they looked at her.
But it didn't matter.
In the past, maybe she would feel sad and try desperately to figure out the reason, but at this time, she understood that sometimes people could do something for no reason.
She didn't care about it anymore.
Thinking of this, Clarissa took a deep breath and said seriously, "It's not impossible that you want me to appear and exonerate Lara."
Chloe immediately held her breath and asked nervously, "What do you want?"
"I want her and Lena to tell the truth about my mother's death!"
"What?"
Chloe was shocked.
Her face changed, "What truth? I don't understand what you are talking about."
"You will understand, as long as you ask them in person. I believe that Lena will not hide anything from you for Lara. This is the only chance. I hope you can make use of it."
After Clarissa finished speaking, she hung up.
Chloe was still in a daze.
She didn't except that what Clarissa wanted was this.
Her face was faintly pale, and her back was oozing cold sweat.
Clarissa knew it!
She knew everything!
How could this be?
They killed her mother so secretly back then. The people who knew this matter were either dead or far away from Visstead. How could she find it out?
Chloe was startled.
Seeing her frightened look, Millie didn't know what Clarissa had told her that shocked her so much.
But she didn't ask anything. After sending out Chloe, she said, "You have made a trouble, and President Chapman is indeed not here. If you make a fuss again, I will really call the security guards, so I hope you can leave as soon as possible. Otherwise, I will turn nasty."
Gianni looked down on Clarissa, so he naturally looked down on Millie who worked for Clarissa.
Seeing this, he was about to roar Millie angrily, but Chloe stopped him.
Chloe was a little weak, and her face looked uneasy.
Lena noticed her strangeness and said softly, "Mom, what's wrong?"
"Nothing."
Chloe shook her head, glanced at the entertainment reporters outside and said blandly, "Lat's go back first. Let's talk about it at home."
As she said this, they left.
Millie didn't call Clarissa until it was confirmed that they had really left.
Clarissa told her not to care about them and asked her to manage the company well before she hung up.
In the Chapman family.
The atmosphere in the living room was extremely silent. Everyone sat there without speaking.
Just now, Chloe told them that she had talked to Clarissa and how Clarissa requested her on the phone.
That was why the atmosphere was so weirdly silent.
Gianni sat there with a straight face. His cold and cruel eyes were like that of bloodthirsty wolves, glinting angrily.
Lena clenched her fingers and said in a trembling voice, "No matter what, we can't give up Lara. If she really goes to jail, her life will be ruined. I can't let this happen to her."
