Chapter 374 Cold And Heartless
Clarissa was in a state of shock. It took a long time for her to recover from the shock.
"Did you call the police?"
The man shook his head. "No, Mark was involved in too many shady deals. It's not convenient to call the police. We can only investigate and solve this privately."
Clarissa nodded with understanding.
She felt like a heavy weight on her chest, making it harder to breathe.
Seeing how Clarissa was in a bad shape, he smiled lightly.
His good-looking face leaned in towards her as he said with a smile, "Now that we're done with the business, Seven, tell me the truth. I haven't seen you for four years, and you really don't miss me at all?"
Clarissa's face, which was originally pale, suddenly turned red. She took a step back and stared at him with vigilance.
"Jara Holland, I'm warning you! Don't try to pull your dirty tricks on again! I'm not going to fall for them!"
Jara smiled as his captivating eyes narrowed slightly
"Seven, you're breaking my heart. Four years ago, you called him 'Jara', but four years later, you're addressing me by the full name. Why are you so cold and heartless?""
Clarissa was speechless. She didn't want to stay here and talk nonsense with him anymore. She turned around and wanted to leave.
Behind her, Jara put on a spine-chilling smile and said, "Seven, I've got your phone number. I'll call you tonight. Don't miss it."
Although he said that with a smile, Clarissa felt a chill running down her spine. His words sounded like a threat and warning to her.
Her expression darkened. Without saying anything, she left quickly.
After leaving, Clarissa did not have the mood to stay any longer at the gala because she had something on her mind. After greeting Lauren and the rest, she brought Nora out of the venue.
When she got home, it was already ten o'clock in the evening. Anderson was reading in the study. Knowing that she probably didn't eat much at the gala tonight, he specially asked Pattie to leave her favorite seafood porridge.
Clarissa didn't have much appetite, so she just ate a few mouthfuls of food before putting it down.
In the evening, Anderson had been staying with her.
Clarissa's phone rang twice. Anderson heard it but did not make any response. Clarissa looked at the caller ID and knew who it was. When she was hesitating whether to answer it or not, she heard Anderson say, "Have you found out who the person who often sent flowers to you recently?"
Clarissa was stunned. She didn't know whether it was because of the guilty conscience or her hands were shaking, she accidentally hung up..
Clarissa raised her head and looked at him in bewilderment. It was only after two seconds that she came to her senses.
"Oh, not yet."
Anderson's eyes darkened.
"Do you need my help?"
"There's no need."
She quickly said, fearing that he would really help her. At that time, no matter whether he could find out something or not, it would be difficult for her to explain in the end.
Anderson tilted his head and glanced at her.
"Are you not feeling well?"
Clarissa forced a smile and shook her head.
Just then, her cell phone buzzed again.
Anderson raised his eyebrows, looked at the caller ID on it, and tipped her the wink, "You're not going to answer?"
Clarissa felt her whole body was beginning to stiffen. She was in a dilemma whether to pick it up or not. Finally, she decided to hang up.
"It's too late to discuss work. Let's talk about it tomorrow!"
As she spoke, she lifted the blanket and crawled under the blankets.
Anderson's brows furrowed slightly, but he did not say anything. He turned off the lights and lay down as well.
It was a peaceful night.
The next day, Clarissa was awakened by a phone ring before she got up.
She fluttered her eyes open in a daze. Before her eyes were fully opened, she picked up the call.
"Hello?"
"Clarissa, something bad happened!"
She frowned and was a little dissatisfied. "What happened? Why are you being so panicked early in the morning"
On the other side, Millie seemed to have ants in her pants.
"There is a scandal about you! The other side is someone extraordinary. Alas, I can't explain it clearly now. You should go on Twitter and quickly check it out!"
Clarissa was stunned. All of the sudden, she was not sleepy at all.
She quickly hung up the phone, sat up, and logged onto Twitter.
She was ranked first on the trending topics.
She quickly clicked on it, only to see that the title was: Breaking news! Steamy date between the wife of the rich and a young man in the bathroom!"
Clarissa's expression changed as she quickly scrolled it down to have a look.
There were a few blurry photos on it.
It seemed like the photos were taken in a very strange angle. Even Clarissa was a semi-professional, she couldn't figure out from which angle the photos were taken, but even so, the two people in the photos were fairly visible.
Clarissa was facing the camera, so her face could be seen clearly. A man was pinning her against the door, looking at her with his head down. The camera shot from his back, so she happened to block his face.
Clarissa's face fell instantly.
"This son of a b*tch!"
Clarissa knew who was the one who took the photos without thinking.
Yesterday, in the washroom, there was no one else besides her and Jara!
"This son of a b*tch! He is probably using this as a means to warn her for not answering his calls."
They hadn't seen each other for four years, but he was still despicable and shameless as before!
Clarissa cursed Jara in her heart, but she knew she couldn't stop Anderson from finding out about this matter.
The thought of Anderson seeing these photos made Clarissa's head throbbing.
Speak of the devil.
It was rare for Anderson to not go to the company at such a late hour. He seemed to have just come out from the shower and was not wearing any clothes. He was only wearing knee-length pants.
With the towel hanging on his body, seeing that Clarissa was awake, he took a towel to wipe his body dry while asking, "You're awake?"
Clarissa forced a smile. "Yeah."
Anderson seemed to be in a better mood than she had imagined, but there was a hint of coldness in his expression.
He threw the towel to the side and then walked towards her.
"Mrs. Jordan, do you have anything to explain to me today?"
Clarissa looked at his face and swallowed a mouthful of saliva.
"Mmhm... you saw it?"
Anderson raised his brows and replied, "Yeah."
Clarissa smiled awkwardly and explained, "It was a misunderstanding. At that time, I happened to meet him in the bathroom. He tried to stop me to tell me something I had no choice but to stay. I didn't expect to be photographed by the paparazzi. Seriously, I have nothing to do with him."
Anderson narrowed his eyes slightly with a hint of coldness in them.
"Really? What a coincidence! He actually ran into you in the ladies' room. I didn't know until today that the second eldest son of the Holland family is a trans woman?"
Clarissa was stunned and shuddered.
"What did you say? What do you mean the second eldest son of the Holland family?"
This time, it was Anderson's turn to be surprised.
"You don't know his background?"
Clarissa opened her mouth, thought for a moment, before closing her mouth and shook her head.
"I don't know."
