Chapter 903 Head Of The Dark Forces
As Jara spoke, he took another sip of wine, only to find that the bottle had been emptied. Thus, he threw the bottle away, grabbed a new bottle, and continued drinking.
"It was them who did the dirty work before to Clarissa; she is your wife after all. She didn't die in the end because she was fortunate enough to meet me. What if she didn't? Anderson, do you think you can still say these words so calmly now?"
Anderson frowned slightly.
It had to be mentioned that Clarissa's accident was the reason he was willing to give up his company affairs and cooperate with Jara.
But after all, he was no longer a green hand and an active young man.
He was now a mature man who could see the big picture and had a well-thought-out mentality.
He was well aware that both parties were exhausted at this stage. No one would be able to obtain any benefits if they continued to fight.
Therefore, it was better to end things in a better way. In any case, the Icarus Association was no longer as powerful as it had been. They had lost approximately sixty percent of forces.
The only thing left to do was to ruin them gently and steadily.
Thinking of this, he said in a low voice, "I know you're worried about Emmeline's whereabouts, but what if she really is not in their hands? I'm afraid you will miss the opportunity to really save her."
Jara fell silent.
That attractive pair of eyes and brows had turned a little sinister.
While staring at a certain part of the sky, he seemed to have thought of something, and his countenance became even colder.
After a while, he added, "The people I sent to investigate got the result. Guess where they took Emmeline to at the end."
"Where is it?"
"It's Wagleigro."
Anderson was taken aback.
Then, Jara turned to look at him and sneered, "That is where the Icarus Association's headquarters are located. If someone really has the ability to free her from their grasp, we can only conclude that a spy is operating within the Icarus Association! Furthermore, this individual's position is high."
Anderson's mind raced, and he realized what was going on right away.
No wonder Jara was so persistent in subduing the Icarus Association. It turned out that this was the reason.
Since the person was a high-ranking member of the Icarus Association, he would not easily flee unless his identity was revealed.
The men dispatched to track down Emmeline's whereabouts had all failed miserably. There was no clue at all, let alone finding her.
Now, the spy was the only source of hope.
If they could successfully overcome the Icarus Association, locate the person, and get him to speak, they would be able to track down Emmeline's whereabouts.
Anderson reflected on how, at this time, Jara had disregarded everything and was nearly entirely repressing the forces of the Icarus Association in all aspects. Finally, he understood everything.
He answered with a nod, "If that's the case, tomorrow's negotiation is essentially pointless. Why don't we call it off?"
Unexpectedly, Jara directly rejected it.
"No. I want to go."
After some hesitation, he took another sip of wine, and the malice in his eyes grew stronger.
"You and Clarissa will stay here tomorrow while I go with my men."
Anderson frowned upon hearing this.
A bad feeling welled up in his heart. "What do you mean? Do you want to..."
Jara turned his head and peered at him, his thin lips forming a sarcastic and cold smile.
"I'm just giving them a taste of their own medicine. They must pay the price if I can't locate Emmeline!"
Anderson was stunned at his words.
In fact, he didn't agree with him in dealing in this manner, but the idea of Clarissa falling into their hands made him swallow his words. After all, if it was the case, he might act even crazier.
Thus, in the end, he did not say anything.
He just nodded. "Okay, don't worry. I'll take care of things here."
Jara nodded, took the bottle in his hand, and clinked it against Anderson's before continuing to drink.
Not long after the two of them had done drinking, Clarissa came out of the room after a shower.
It was still summer now. She wore a lavender long dress. As soon as she got to the garden, she saw them sitting there while drinking.
Then she raised her eyebrows and walked over. With a smile, she said, "Wine is known to make one's troubles worse. Are you guys worried that tomorrow's negotiations will fail?"
When Anderson saw her, he softened his gaze and gave her a wave.
Clarissa approached. Anderson drew her close to him and sat next to him. "We're not going tomorrow," he stated.
Stunned and confused, she questioned, "Why?"
Anderson remained silent. Clarissa was puzzled for quite some time before realizing what was going on. She then shifted her gaze to Jara.
"Jara, do you really plan to do so?"
Needless to say, Clarissa had already figured out what he planned to do.
It was taboo to break an agreement at the negotiation table.
Jara did not want Anderson to follow him because he was afraid the incident would affect both of their reputations. But wouldn't it be the same if he did so?
Looking at her with some disgust, Jara said nothing.
His eyes fell on their hands that were grasping each other, and he snorted coldly.
"Go away if you want to be all lovey-dovey in front of me. What a pain!"
Clarissa didn't argue with him because she knew his sweetheart was now in the hands of someone else and was in a terrible mood.
Instead, she thought for a moment before responding, "It's not impossible to do so, but don't you worry that they'll kill Emmeline in a fit of rage? Don't blame me for not reminding you at that point. It'll be too late for you to regret it."
After she finished her sentence, Jara snorted coldly again.
Seeing that he didn't want to give in, Clarissa shook her head helplessly.
"Now that we've got to this point," she continued, "I don't think it's a problem for us to take action tomorrow."
"Anyway, we're at odds with the Icarus Association right now. We'll do it one day, even if we don't do it tomorrow."
"I've just done some math. If things were to go on like this, If we keep going like this, we'll have a winner in less than a month."
"If you are really determined to do so, we will naturally accompany you. But keep in mind that a lot can happen in half a month. Have you ever considered who will save Emmeline later if she is actually not in their hands while you waste half a month here? Even if you take down the Icarus Association and become the head of the dark forces if something bad happens to her, what can you do?"
Jara's fingers, which were holding the bottle of wine, paused for a minute when he heard this, and he became gloomy quickly.
In an instant, the atmosphere fell silent.
Anderson caressed her fingers softly but said nothing. He was already ready to protect Clarissa if anything were to happen.
He would be able to protect her and counter-attack as soon as Jara made his move.
