Chapter 986 She Murdered Someone

Although Clarissa was pregnant, she felt that she was fit enough to walk.
On the other hand, Anderson could not help but take precautions.
His good intentions were clear, and Clarissa did not want to disappoint him. After thinking for a while, Clarissa decided and suggested, "In that case, we'll order room service and eat in the room."
Anderson nodded in agreement. After she had decided what she wanted, Anderson ordered the meal on his phone and had the meal delivered to their room.
While they were having their dinner, Sierra and Robert came back to the hotel.
As soon as she was back, Sierra went to see Clarissa as she was worried about Clarissa's health. Clarissa was in the middle of her dinner and got up immediately when she saw Sierra.
"Mom, you are back."
Sierra quickly made Clarissa sit down and asked, "We're back from our stroll. How are you? You're tired out today. How're you feeling now?"
"I'm fine, I'm fine."
Clarissa answered in a carefree manner.
However, Sierra was still worried. She was not a cold person. Although she could not remember what happened in the past, she appreciated Clarissa's care and concern for her over this time. Her concern for Clarissa was genuine and sincere.
She shot a glance at Robert beside her.
"Robert, Clarissa is pregnant and needs regular checkups. She's been rushing around these two days, and it might affect the baby. Why don't you give her a checkup now?"
Her words startled Clarissa, and she asked, "There is no equipment here for a checkup."
With a big smile, Sierra answered, "No equipment is needed. Robert is not only an expert in foreign medicine, but he is also good at local traditional medicine pulse diagnosis."
That explained it, and Clarissa replied with an "Oh."
Robert sat facing Clarissa and instructed her, "Stretch out your hand."
So Clarissa did as told.
Robert used two fingers to listen to her pulse. After listening for a while, he asked her for her other hand.
Robert stood up and announced the results after a keen observation.
"Nothing's wrong. She's fine."
As Clarissa rolled down her sleeves, she smiled and reassured, "See, Mom, I'm fine."
Sierra smiled meekly and replied, "You don't know how to take good care of your body."
Although Clarissa was flippant, Anderson was deeply concerned.
Thus, Anderson wholeheartedly thanked Robert, "Thank you very much."
"You're welcome," Robert replied.
After a few more words, Sierra did not want to interrupt their meal further and went back to her room.
When dinner ended, Clarissa had Anderson accompany her to walk around the balcony to help with digestion.
Right at this time, Anne called her.
Since she had her own cell phone, Anne called or text Clarissa frequently. As she missed her mother, most of Anne's texts and calls were to find out how her mother was.
In truth, these texts and calls were packed with the children's concern and their dependence on her.
As Clarissa walked back and forth to the balcony, she chatted with Anne.
Even though Marf was her biological son, he was closer to Anderson rather than her. On the other hand, Anne clung to her like an actual mother and daughter.
As Anne grew into a little beauty, Clarissa was surprised that Anne resembled her more and more.
Anne's resemblance to Clarissa was so striking that Pattie and the others joked that they were two peas in a pod.
Mrs. Jordan also noticed this resemblance. However, as an older lady, she was experienced and knowledgeable. So, she did not think there was anything amiss.
On the contrary, she bantered with a chuckle that fate bound Anne and Clarissa together as mother and daughter, so they should look alike.
In short, nobody thought that there was anything strange, and it did not bother Clarissa either.
Only Anderson felt disturbed whenever he saw how Anne clung to Clarissa.
When Clarissa and Anne were done with the call, Clarissa prepared to shower then sleep.
Suddenly, Anderson's phone rang.
The caller was Chantel.
As soon as the call was through, Chantel was heard sobbing.
"Anderson, come and save me. Something, something bad has happened!"
Immediately, Anderson's expression dropped, and he asked, "What happened?"
"I... I think I've killed someone!"
…...
Twenty minutes later, Anderson and Clarissa arrived at the underground pub where Chantel was.
These underground pubs dealt with stuff and activities ordinary pubs would not.
Such activities included black boxing, explicit performances, dirty and bloody deals.
It was beyond Anderson to believe that Chantel would come to such a place. All along the way, Anderson was sulking.
Clarissa was also confused and nervous. She understood Chantel's character and that Chantel was scared of Anderson. Chantel would never call Anderson unless it was something she could not resolve.
Back in the hotel, Sierra and Robert heard how Anderson and Clarissa ran out in a hurry, so they gave them a phone call out of concern.
Clarissa could only tell them that Chantel had some troubles without giving details. She told them that she and Anderson were on the way and that they should not worry.
Sierra could see that she could not be of help. So, she exhorted Clarissa to be careful and stay safe. Then, she hung up.
At the pub, Anderson and Clarissa found Chantel seated on a long sofa in a hall.
A heavily tattooed man lay across from her.
The man was thin, dark-skinned, and perhaps 1.5 meters or so. He lay on the floor with blood dripping from his head. There was no indication whether he was dead or alive.
As soon as Chantel saw Clarissa and Anderson, she stood up and ran over.
"Anderson, Clarissa, you're finally here."
Around them was a group of men and women dancing as if they were possessed. Clarissa held Chantel and asked, "What happened?"
"I..."
Before Chantel could speak, a burly man came from the opposite side and stood in front of them.
"Hey, are you her family?"
Clarissa nodded.
As Clarissa gripped Chantel's hand, she asked, "What's wrong?"
The man pointed at the body on the floor, then at Chantel. He explained, "This woman killed my best friend. She has to pay compensation. Since you're her family, then take out your money and pay. Otherwise, if this ends up in court, then paying money won't help."
Other voices joined in. "That's right! Hurry up and pay!"
"You're getting off lightly with just paying for beating someone to death. Hurry up and pay up!"
The other party was many big and muscular men. The atmosphere was scary with the dim lights and smoky air.
However, there was no expression on Clarissa's face.
Anderson's face was also blank.
